- This video is not a tutorial but a demonstration that a negative scraper can cut dry pine cleanly. It was in response to comments that you can’t do it.
Watch to the end to see the grind I put on my scraper.
The negative scraper is a tool that my Great Grandfather used a lot and passed the grind on through the family tradition. #woodturning #scraper #tools #handmade
You and Richard Raffan are my favorites to watch. Thank you for your knowledge. Patrick from Idaho USA
Thank you, Richard is one of the true old pros.
I agree 100%
Both are my only sources as a beginner wood turner.
Adam from Tasmania, Australia.
I asked Richard Raffan to do some spindle videos and he sent me a link to woodturner 21
He’s a legend ❤️
You're a master! Love watching your skills. I will not be attempting this, though 😁 Will continue honing my gouge skills and learning the 'feel'. Your 'feel' is incredible, and wonderful to watch you administer it. Especially the skew!
Thanks for posting your videos. Adam from Tasmania, Australia.
Thank you for taking time to comment it good to know the videos are enjoyed.
Love the ribbons hitting the camera
Keep the videos coming 😊
Thank you
Nice work!
Thanks!
Beyond amazing.
Thank you
Great video as always, would like to see you make something unusual perhaps where several turned parts come together and obviously making a longer video. Best regards..Terry..
Thank you. Have you checked out my Teddy bear video?
Pahat kayunya tajam sekali👍👍👍😧
Thank you
Very cool.
Thank you
Appreciate the video, so very helpful! How do you sharpen your scraper when its length gets so short? That would not fit on my grinder’s tool rest without removing the handle.
I do it completely freehand, I don’t use the tool rest
Interesting video, when would you favour this chisel over your skew?
I never use a skew on faceplate work. And never use the scraper on spindle work.
@@woodturner21 thanks for the clarification
Nice work! How often did you have to refresh the burr to turn this piece?
I didn’t refresh on this piece this is real speed and not edited it’s exactly as you see it.
@@woodturner21 I thought so but wanted to make sure. Is the scraper HSS or something more durable? Your great grandfather was way ahead of his time! Thanks for the videos…I love watching.
@@randyshearin644 it’s V10 steel harder than HSS
Идеально!👍👍👍
Thank you
Супер!
Thank you
Do you slip stone the top or do you go to the grinder to sharpen both surfaces when you feel it is not working for you 🤔
I grind the bottom bevel regularly. I only grind the top bevel occasionally.
👍👍. 👏👏🇺🇾
Thank you
