“Rocket to the Moon,” the lead single from Netflix’s event animated film event OVER THE MOON, directed by Oscar® winning animator Glen Keane. Written by Christopher Curtis (Chaplin: The Musical), Marjorie Duffield and Helen Park (KPOP) and with vocals by the film’s lead newcomer Cathy Ang, “Rocket to the Moon” is the uplifting and inspiring number that launches main character Fei Fei on an adventure of a lifetime.

Fueled with determination and a passion for science, a bright young girl builds a rocket ship to the moon to prove the existence of a legendary Moon Goddess. There she ends up on an unexpected quest, and discovers a whimsical land of fantastical creatures. I'm actually crying right now.. My mother died a year ago and coincidentally after 4 months my father got another woman but until now he didn't tell me yet..I knew his relationship together with the woman, because of the notifications on his phone... but sadly, I can't actually move on yet.

Same themes! Even Bungee is there for the same reason Dante is: a psychopomp; a guide to the world of the dead. (Callback to the Black Rabbit of Inlé; white is death's color in Chinese culture)
(As an aside, the Pixiu should have been winged cheetahs; the brother thing would have made more sense, and they should have been Mama's childhood cats!)
People saying this remember Disney renaissance, I mean the movie is direct by the same guy who made The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Tarzan and The Beauty and the Beast so.... yeah definitely have renaissence vibes, lol xD

This reminded me so much of little mermaid. Even the approach of being very delicate then building confidence later in the song

The lyric are so beautiful
The line "can you see what no one else can see" hits so hard. She's talking about the pain that no one is seeing with in her about her mothers loss and how those feelings wash back the moment she sees her father with another woman.
Its traumatic pain she hopes is solvable by a goddess who went through the same pain.
This movie doesn't shy away from trauma and we need this. Especially for kids!
the “longing songs” of 80s-90s Disney animations soundtrack. its the formula. and its once again succeed (i know this is netflix’s)
This is so, so beautiful. Cathy, if you read this, you are a star! Such an incredible performance and this was the 1st take! Emotionally satisfying and vocally delivered with nuance and expertise. I'm so proud and happy for you! Beautifully written too by Helen Park, Christopher Curtis & Marjorie Duffield. I can't wait to hear the other songs! Finally the legendary Glen Keane making his Directorial Feature debut. It's been a long time coming and it looks to be incredible, hilarious and very moving. Can't wait to watch!
"Fly away, wish I had the wings to take me high away" This part really did it for me. As someone still dealing with loss and grief for about four years now, I would want nothing more than to escape from it all, even more so during the first few weeks and months.
Don't forget that Cathy Ang recorded this in one take 😺

i I immediately feel in love with it the second I heard this song.
Has anyone noticed that in the other versions there seems to be some added lyrics? I'm curious as to whether or not it's part of a reprise of the song that comes a little later on in the movie when Fei-Fei actually has her rocket put together and she takes off for the first time. She mentions Paper Lanterns, Astronauts and Bungee in there... so I really hope this means we get a few more songs than just the two we know about.

A Priscila canta demais. Mas é muito 'pop'. Isso é um musical. Precisa transmitir emoção nas músicas. Felicidade, tristeza, raiva... A Priscila canta como uma cantora se apresentando mesmo.

Like some of the songs, beginning and end if the movie but the middle part with the moon under extasy with bonbon figures and angry bird chickens destroyed much of it. That is really pity. So the movie was ok with some good songs, but it could really habve been good

Surprinsingly, the "Fly with me" lyrics (from "As It Is in Heaven") would coincidentally also be a great fit for this movie. Anyways, would recommend both movies.
