This recipe is very similar to my maternal grandmother's. The only difference is that she omitted the corn and served that and another green vegetable and/or a tossed salad on the side. Then our dessert was either assorted fruit (home-canned or fresh), a slice of pie or cake, a cookie or pudding (home made of course!). We always had great food made with love at our house of seven people (three adults & four children).

The printed recipe doesn't mention corn in the ingredient list but it does mention adding it in the instructions.
