A young Corelli in his mid 30's with Zinka Milanov, she studio recorded it the next year in 1958 with Jussi Bjoerling and Leonard Warren for RCA.

I saw the fantastic Corelli 4 times. In Tosca with that Vittoria that went around the world. I melted.........couldn't move.

Great to hear Milanov in fine late career form. She even has a fine high C or two remaining on her vocal tree (in response to an earlier comment to Leonard Warren that ˋthese high Cs don‘t grow on trees, you know ´) I am not sure that watching her as TOSCA would have proved as satisfying as hearing her in the role, depending on one’s sense of humor, but the CD represents her well. Corelli contributes a strong performance both vocally & dramatically & with a bit more discipline than one finds on some other occasions. Still I have to admit a guilty pleasure hearing him let loose In that live Parma TOSCA from 1967. Perhaps what I enjoy the most from this Covent Garden performance is Guelfi as Scarpia. Few roles suited him better vocally & here he demonstrates that he had few, if any, rivals with a real Scarpia voice during this time. It may be the most exciting singing I have ever heard from him. Incisive & powerful, his initial entrance makes a greater effect than what one often hears from more smoothly beautiful but, for me, less awesome voices.
This TOSCA CD here which, I fortunately have, is one I am especially fond of & recommend without reservation.
