I think about how awful it's been being quarantined for 14 days. I can only imagine what it's like sitting in a jail cell knowing you are innocent. GOD help those suffering this fate.

We are trying desperately to find someone to help our daughter. Thank you for your comment. It just seems impossible. I have sent emails after emails but haven't heard from anyone. It is destroying our family especially her young children.

Nothing compares. You feel as nobody believes you, every time you meat someone new, the fight is over again. You are never ever free again, and those who are responsible are.

I have suffered from an Intentional Premeditated False Arrest and Wrongful Conviction in 2002. This was done by Scioto County's well known criminal police and courts... It's horrendous!!

Thanks Lauren for the very informative discussion about the causes of wrongful convictions. My wrongful conviction, as you know from helping me for the past three plus years, falls under 2 out of the 5 causes you describe in your video. Misidentification, Government Misconduct/Bad Lawyering. Thanks for all your efforts and the efforts that led to the exoneration of the many wrongfully convicted you helped to date. Keep up the fight.

Wrongful convictions are one of the scariest and nightmarish experiences that can happen to a person! Thank you to the organizations and lawyers fighting this! There are so many terrible cases, like the Memphis Three for e.g. where I consider the govt. “misconduct “ as criminal. When the prosecution or the police hold proof of innocence and keep it secret, why on earth are these individuals not held accountable in a court of law?! These are not human mistakes by authorities but abominable and should be considered criminal behavior.

  • @adammann98

When I was arrested and charged, I was denied bail and told by my lawyers that if I did not plead guilty I could be sitting in jail waiting longer for a trial date than the amount of time that they were seeking and that I could be given twice the amount of time or more for not taking "responsibility " if found guilty at trial.
So due to those circumstances, I pled guilty knowing that I was innocent, because I didn't want to sit in jail waiting longer for a trial date than the time they were seeking, especially when prison Conditions can be cruel and unusual and trial dates can be unreasonably delayed and convictions can be wrongful and appeals can be often denied.
I pled guilty knowing I was innocent because I did not want to deal with the stress, fear, frustration, malice, or the confusion caused by systemic racism.
I pled guilty knowing that Elizabeth May Terry (lizzie terry) made false allegations in order to have me locked up so she could steal twenty-three thousand dollars of furniture and electronics from me in retaliation for cheating with her sister.
As a victim of systemic racism you do not committ crimes, you just suffer the consequences of crimes like an innocent bystander.
Systemic racism made me the victim look like the criminal and the actual criminal look like the victim. Even when you tell the truth they will make you out to to be the liar and then make the actual liar out to be the one telling the truth.
They will pick sides without knowing the truth or without seeking the truth, and then concoct or make whatever side they think they can make look like the truth.
Everything you say or do they use against you especially in the court of law where everyone in positions of authority are white or have to answer directly or indirectly to someone white. That's white supremacy. Racism, that has been perfected and systematized.
I do not need anyone to tell me that I'm innocent when I know that I am innocent. The video proves I'm innocent. The same video that the judge refused to watch.
I pled guilty knowing that I did not committ any offense, knowing that I was innocent, just to get out of jail and they knew that. Now that I'm out, I take that guilty plea right back. I giveth, therefore I taketh.
I shouldn't have went to jail in the first place. They will lock you up, ruin your life, take everything from you, then release you with nothing. That's racism. They didn't have to lock me up when they knew they was eventually going to release me. They could have released me from the beginning so that I wouldn't lose everything.
What a system. Not only does it tolerate racism, it requires racism.

I plead guilty to a crime I did not commit. I was 21. Met my public defender for 5 minutes. Was offered probation to plead guilty and took it. I had spent 3 month in custody with no contact with my family or any legal counsel. All I knew was no one was advocating for me or doing any kind of work on my behalf and that my accuser (my own mother) was wealthy and would stop at nothing to see me put in prison. The only evidence against me was her eyewitness account. No one else was present. So I was told by my public defender that a trial was a coin flip on who they believed and that I could take the plea deal and then get my record expunged down the road. So I took the less terrifying option since I was facing 10 years in prison for AHAN (a charge that is now retired). I was sentenced to 5 years probation and did 1 year before my mother's constant harassment of my PO and my good behavior got me off of probation.
But my life is ruined. Cant get a job, an apartment, insurance costs are higher, when I have had a job there is no upward mobility because of my record. Also my reputation is ruined.
Part of the reason I was let off probation early was to pursue a pardon or even exoneration. I just do not have the money to pay a lawyer. My mother is dead now too so I don't know what effect that would have either.

Are people in USA not educated on asking for a lawyer and saying nothing else. If nothing is said their words cant be twisted. I'm shocked by the amount of wrongful convictions in USA. Ive watched a lot of crime documentaries and interrogations and a majority of people seem to not ask for lawyer and sit there for hours being accused, badgered, berated and threatened by the police by which time they're tired, confused and are willing to say anything to get out of the situation. Am I missing something in my interpretation of what's happening ?? Why don't they say from the very beginning that they want legal representation and nothing more. I don't get it.

They have held my son for 13 months, before he got a discovery hearing. A month after that. An arraignment. The public defender has only talked to him a few times and has not been trying to get evidence on our side. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly. Lassen County California, thinks they can do whatever they want and are doing it to many people, especially people without money. The ethics committee and internal affairs, are in the courthouse too. So I guess, they police themselves. I don't know where to turn.

I am working part time with putting together a independently produced documentary on wrongful convictions in the US. Similar to Sean Penn's Witch Trial documentary (if you all haven't seen it pls do) so the question I have is, could we use this video clip within it? we would have no issue providing a copy for your review once in the final stages of completion if you wish. pls let me know, the documentary is a non-profit, no financial gain and will be distributed for free. This clip would be used solely for informational purposes only.

We have a serious problem here with the district attorney and the judge and the public defender's office line to the jury and stating that purchase statements or evidence of facts and when they already been proven the witness has been impeached and already proven perjured and they're trying to prosecute someone for their speech like being called section 422 we want all of this stopped and if it isn't stopped there's going to be serious repercussions on the system here we're going to cut all your funding completely out for all these criminal threats and threatening officers with violence and yelling and screaming you're guilty when you are guilty of fraud and deceit and crimes of moral turpitude for the last 200 years

I want to let folks know this Happens everyday in our court rooms. I got convicted for 40years to LIFE for something I didn't do. They convicted me by the Jury even after the jury Hearing DNA was of two other people & not me but the Expert Lied to the jury & the DA would not turn over the Discovery to my Lawyer. I was Held in a room & interrogate me for over 9Hr where I was not even allowed to use the Bathroom, no food, & I just wanted to sleep because I was so tired but no one cared I lost all Hope & gave in. Latter on they tested for finger prints on the Gun & the police said in court that while testing they accidentally smudged the prints. Then they tested for DNA but did not tell anyone else & with held the results from my Lawyer untill the day of trial & said they did not have my DNA but two other people but yet still convicted me 🙏💯👁️‍🗨️

Innocent people should never suffer. Free Dr. Aafia Siddiqui a neuroscientist and mother kidnapped in Pakistan and held unjustly WITHOUT trial under the authority of the U.S in Afghanistan and now at Forth Worth Texas under bogus charges as an excuse to retain her. This poor innocent woman has suffered rape and torture since 2003! This must stop now! Shame!

Can anyone help me? My ex husband was wrongfully convicted over a domestic dispute.. most of those things can be proven to be untrue. However because he has bipolar disorder he was used as the scapegoat, because of a time in the past he attempted suicide by cop. This is honestly a sad story and an innocent man is being punished right now and I feel nothing but guilt and want to help him because he truly is an innocent man.
