Omg getting a random yoshimatsu video in my recommended is astonishing... he's absolutely my favorite composer, and this is my favorite piece of music. I saw someone asking for a takemitsu video, and he's my second favorite!
When that oboe comes in, simply breathtaking. A rushing torrent of diatonic and pandiatonic notes in the foreground, and stable harmonies in the background. Then the piano comes back and it’s just incredible.
Its great to see so many positive comments about Yoshimatsu...with one or two exceptions of course! But Ive always loved his music and think it takes a lot of guts to write music like this when a great deal of your contemporaries are willingly lost in an atonal wilderness and think that the ONLY way forward!!! This is beautiful art music...timeless!!!
