Really need to get a LOW D whistle! Every time I hear it I love that sound. The upper reg' whistles are more enlightening with an energetic sound, and the LOW D has such a calming, soothing, almost somber tone. You've demonstrated some very fine instruments on your channel. Very impressed. Thank you! ~JSV
Your accent isn't bad lol but your playing is beautiful, I've only had my time whistle a week so slowly working away at it but I want to be able to play that low whistle it sounds so good .Both of them songs remind me of home Thank you 👍
Stephanie, thank you. So easy to follow and the encouragement really works. Two tunes that you might look at when you get a chance, the lonesome Boardman by the Fury brothers, and the Belfast hornepipe. Keep up the great work. Niall
Thank you (fir your support and comments) :) I'm so glad you like it. I'll certainly take a look for you, I don't know them off hand but I do like a good hornpipe! x
CutiePie Stephanie , you would enjoy both. The lonesome boatman is haunting. The hornepipe is very fast but beautiful. The Dubliners used play it. Good luck and thank you. Most classes in music are boring and the teacher fails to show their passion for their music. Well done to you. You do it well. Keep up the great work. Niall
Good timing with this 😊 ive been giving myself brain damage trying to remember Skye Boat Song for a couple of weeks now 😞 and bingo here you are with that very tune 😊 and Lomond as a bonus 😀. Good work Stephanie 🤗👍
I love The Skye Boat Song, and Outlander. Idk if it was on purpose or not, but both of these songs are in Outlander. Would it be possible for you to make a tutorial for Fallen Through Time from the Outlander soundtrack? It's absolutely beautiful, and probably one of my favorite songs... that and The Monahgan Jig, that song is amazing and very fun on mandolin. I'm not talented enough to play it on the whistle yet. Hopefully soon though.
I'm late to the party, and new subscriber. I love your tutorials. When I listen to some of the recorded versions of songs, I thought maybe they were using a pan flute. Then somehow your channel was recently suggested to me, and I fell in love with the whole approach you take. I do wish one thing, (and sometimes you do), when you use something other than a D whistle, I hope you take and list the whistle you are using. Thank you for all you do. I know videos take a lot of time.
Good morning (it’s 4:30 am for me)...Thanks again for a wonderful start to my day....a song , a smile and that musical laugh of yours...I notice you prefer the low D whistle any reason or just because you prefer it’s lower tones? Is yours metal?
Good morning! So glad you like the video and my giggles! :) Hmm, good question. I don't really prefer it, I guess it's just a better whistle than my high whistles, it was £250, where my Clarke soprano D was about £10...so I like to get my use out of it! haha! And of course, it's in D, which is most helpful for those learning with me. It's metal, yes, it's a bit of a pain actually, it doesn't play well in the cold Welsh weather - it plays so much better in the summer! I'm on the look out for a better high whistle, but i'm undecided as yet :) thinking Kilarney (but expensive) or a Dixon Pro...
CutiePie Oh come now don't you want a Abell only $500. This coming from a guy who just ordered a B flat generation. If money wasn't an object I would like the entire Burke line up. Crud haven't received my first whistle and already have a case of W.A.S.
Stephanie, what a beautiful backdrop you have. Is that a place somewhere in the Uk? It looks as if there should be some sheep grazing around there somewhere. Those songs are really beautiful and you did a great job of playing them. So you are going to post videos every Tuesday and Friday… And make adverts for your clients also. With a schedule like that you will have to hire a maid. Unless of coarse you already have one or your husband does as I do and does all the house work, shopping and cooking. Or you are just a super girl. I say you are just a super girl! You don’t have to correct me if I’m wrong, we can just leave it at that… Stephanie is a super girl ! Should that be just one word… I’m not sure. Thank you for all that you do!
Stephanie, You caught me off guard again with your new marvelous introduction to your channel. You look marvelous my dear. Oh my gosh… What a beautiful dress you are wearing! I know I shouldn’t say it, but I’ve become so starstruck by you and your charm that I’ve almost forgotten that I even own and make penny whistles! How can any man concentrate on tabs when you are standing there looking so beautiful and charming! All I can concentrate on are silly love songs and poems and I’m not even a poet or song writer. Perhaps all is not lost. Maybe I will send them to another “available” Supergirl that I fall in love with someday. To lighten things up a bit… you can take me seriously or you can just laugh out loud, as long as you are smiling… that’s all that really matters. Now about this Isle of Skye… I had to check it out… What a beautiful place! If it were not for you I probable would never have found it. It’s very cold there now I’m sure… Have you been there? And what time of the year would be the best time to go? It’s not cold here now and it’s going to get warmer very soon with some cold spells before April. To a lot of people, this time of the year is the worst time… Some people say depressing. And many fight their depression by going to the Mardi Gras parades. You’ve heard of it haven’t you? Another topic altogether. But for me it’s just too close to spring to get depressed. The animals are chasing tail already… The next warm sunny day we have and the birds will be singing their mating songs. That day could be here in just a day or two. Back when I was playing the violin that I made, I learned a song called the “Flowers of Edinburgh”. I had the music to that one until an evil women named Katrina destroyed it and the entire book with her muddy and salty tears. I think that those extra powerful hurricanes have something to do with what humans are doing to the earth. But that is another topic altogether. That song is one I would like you to do a video of when you get the chance. You might already know that one. It’s really fast and the fiddlers I’ve checked out tonight sound pretty bad doing it. Please let me know if you have heard it and whether you like it or not. It might take some time to learn. Thank you for all that you do!
Glad you like it - it's mainly for the newcomers, because I'm able to add a channel trailer - (hence not psting on a regular posting day) ;) but hopefully it'll help let people know what I do and how they can support me here, on Patreon and on Ko-Fi :) As for the dress, I know, best dress ever ;) haha, I love it, it's new, one of the few items I gathered looking for something with green sleeves for your first song request ;) haha, but green is my favourite colour so it wasn't difficult! I've not been to Skye, I presume spring/summer may be the best time to go, providing you don't mind the mosquito swarms - Scotland gets a few problems with midges when it starts to warm up, just like they do in parts of Finland, not for long though. Glad to hear it's starting to feel spring like with you, hopefully you'll get some gentle sunshine soon, I'n sure the animals will appreciate that as much as the humans. I don't know “Flowers of Edinburgh” off hand, but I'll check, I've probably heard it. I'll add it to my to do list :) I've just learned to play Scotland The Brave, so that'll have to appear here somewhere - maybe a bit later in the year!
Stephanie, I almost forgot that I requested “Greensleeves” some time ago. I’m impressed and happy that you remembered. But, I believe my very first request was the Titanic theme. I think it was already on your list, but I’m not sure and it wasn’t long before you posted it. I was very happy and surprised to see you post it so soon! Now about my last comment… Thank you for answering almost all of my questions. Concerning the question about the Mardi Gras… I’m wondering… maybe you haven’t heard of it. Or, you think it’s an event that is not worth discussing. Perhaps you would be correct concerning the later, because I have lived here all of my life and if I had to describe it in detail I couldn’t do a very good job, but I will try. In New Orleans Louisiana it means lots of night parades, drunkenness and lovely breast flashing when the floats go by. This is suppose to entice the men on the floats to throw lots of worthless plastic beads to the ladies doing the flashing. This celebration or craziness goes on for weeks along the coast from Louisiana to Mobile Alabama. That’s just a short description of it. There is a lot more about it online I’m sure. Now about the Patreon thing that you have started… I’m wondering if that is something that you have just started because I haven’t noticed it until now. Without further study, I would say that it would be a bit scary for anyone to start something like that because you know how people are I’m sure… When it comes to money they can be very conservative. Some will be embarrassed that they can give only a dollar or two, as compared to someone that can afford to give much more. I think that some of the things I have just mentioned are why some young artist don’t go with the Patreon route, as well as their fear of failure. It takes a special and fearless person to set up the Patreon service. And you my love are both! But the main thing to remember is… The amount of support or supporters you receive is not an indication of the value of your talents and channel. I’m sure you know all of this already and I feel that you started the Patreon service mainly to give your viewers a way of showing their appreciation to some degree other than with just sweet thank you comments. To me, everything that you have done so far is absolutely priceless! P.S. I hope that my rambling makes sense to you sometimes, because I have such a hard time trying to express myself when writing or anytime for that matter! Please know that I am always trying to say something positive. And thank you for all that you do!
Burt Eastwood oh yes, sorry of forgotten that on my reply. I've heard of the Mardi Gras yes... Seems like an outdated way to have fun but I guess it's better than not having fun...
what is that whistle called your playing? its such a low resonating tone i really like it. My tin whistle sounds great but its not as soft on the ears as yours.
I'd love it if sometime you did When The Boat Comes In (Dance to Your Daddy). It's such a lovely tune, especially the way Bob Fox plays it. All the whistle covers I've heard of it so far have been really lacking, but I bet you could do it justice! ua-cam.com/video/YLWLFGyacts/v-deo.html
CutiePie. You are nice to watch and play well but the 4th note which you show on your music sheet as F is wrong and it sounds wrong. {It is too low.} Maybe it is your own version but having myself recently been going through dozens of versions of singers and musicians playing this particular tune that one off note ruins for me what is otherwise a nice sound from your instrument and a pleasant sound to hear playing. I mean no unkindness.
The sheet music for Skye Boat reads dedg no f#. The f# should not be in there. Have been a fan for years!! Love your music and the free tabs too!! And you truly are a Cutie Pie...what an incredibly pleasant lady!!

It's an MKpro low D 😊
May I ask, what are the little plus signs + below some of the notes? Thank you :)
Comfy Womfy it means you need to blow harder and play the higher octave note 😊
CutiePie Oh right. 😊 Thank you Sassenach 😬
Very nice ... great help ..... May you can Play also. Eriin Green Store ... i love this Song ... it is so beautyful... thx a lot

Try out serbian traditional music on "frula". I would like to hear that. It would be amazing!

Andrei Ivushkin I wouldn't know, I don't speak Welsh 😉
Really appreciate your tutorials.....but please don't say The Skye Boat Song is "from" Outlander.
Great video but the accent is horrific
Completely agree 😆🤣 one of those things that seemed fun at the time but it's exceptionally embarrassing now 🙈🙈🙈
Aye ma late granny would sing them to me as a nipper 🏴🥃
