No. It is proof that his live performances are edited and fixed for this kind of videos. Not that I give a fuck, mind you. He can suck as much as he wants or be as awesome as he wants, I don't give a damn, but facts are facts, and this video is edited.
Lmfao. You're really going on every comment and telling people that this is "edited". That's sad and pathetic. Yes, it's edited, but Lars did play double bass. As I mentioned in my other comment that you also replied to, he played it, and you can hear it live on fan recordings. The double bass in the live recordings is both fast, and sometimes it's inconsistent and obviously not as loud as this. Yes, it's been reinforced with drum samples, and compression, but that's done in every single live recording and every single metal album since Pro Tool came into existence. Every single metal album that you've listened to that was recorded from 2005 and beyond is littered with drum replacement. They get rid of the original drum sound that was recorded and replace it with a sampled sound, like a trigger but post-recording and in the studio. That's why Andy Sneap's albums sound the way they do. They do it both live and for studio recordings. That's nothing new. Yes, it's edited. I'm an engineer. What's your point?

This song absolutely shreds. I've been listening to this song almost 25 years and it still blows my mind at the speed and heaviness. This was really groundbreaking as I don't think any other band was playing this fast in 1984
+billshatcat Everything in music is compressed. Do you actually think death metal drummers can hit 250bpm double bass without the help of triggers and compressors? No. Everything is edited. It's just to ensure the best possible sound. A compressor makes everything sound uniform, so one part isn't louder than the other. Lars played the bass drum, it wasn't subtle, it wasn't quiet and there are fan-recorded videos proving it.
Yes, they can, but not consistently, and the hits aren't "clean, uniform, and equal velocity hits". That's near impossible. They sound uniform to the naked ear, but once it's recorded and you're in the studio listening on monitors, you can hear the difference. It's striking to hear how different it sounds. You can even see the difference in the sound waves. All those hits are replaced by drum replacement software. That's why everything you hear on metal records sounds so uniform. Nothing about the drums are the real recorded drum sounds, except for probably the cymbals. That's pretty much it. Everything else is pretty much stripped away and replaced with drum samples. But that isn't the point. You're trying to detract from the performance Lars gave and idk why. He actually played the double bass in this and there are fan videos proving it.
