Thanks so much. Mr. Melton. Very nice video today. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God Bless.
Thanks Derek! I've watched your steak flipper video before (actually a couple of times!) when I was hand forging a steak flipper and flesh forks from RR spikes to get the order of operations. Since I was hand forging I used my small guillotine fuller tool for right at the head and approximate length (minus a bit) to set the "depth" and then forged down the handle to that "depth". Then fullered the end of handle section down further and drew out the rest. Got it done, but alot of hammer work! Love your work and your instagram posts/stories!
Thank you! Exactly what I needed to know. I was avoiding the handle! I don’t know if this is wise, but I’ll go back and work the handle now to get more length. I’m at 11 inches and figure I need at least 4 more.
Thank you for putting this video together. How could a person turn a railroad spike into a long circular rod? Thank you again for the insights you shared in this video.
@@derekmelton Thank you for the insightful response. My brother is our family's handyman - I will relay your instructions to him and he will understand what you mean. Thanks again, Sir.

I'd draw it out to an even diameter and then use a circular swage or form to bend around.
