This was playing on the Graceland's front lawn on the morning of Lisa Marie Presleys memorial service.
It was very sad but also very beautiful. Then the Memphis mass choir took over.
I was there.

My uncle did one hell of a job at my my great grandmothers funeral and even though I’m biased. That sight at the funeral was the greatest sight I have ever seen in my life, regardless of how sad it was. Our whole family of 100+ people were singing along. It was beautiful

My mother had a beautiful singing voice until she had to have ghastly leukoplakia removed from her vocal chords. It broke our hearts, but not as much as it broke hers. To hear her singing on a Sunday was the highlight of our week. This was her favourite hymn, it is mine too, we played it at her funeral & it was rather strange to hear, without hearing her singing along to it. Many people become addicts because of accidents that caused major trauma to their bodies. Sobriety and salvation go hand in hand. Only Christ Jesus can break those chains IF we let Him. Not knowing Elvis i don't know what his relationship w/ Jesus was like i just appreciate the fact that he knew Father God and His only begotten Son and hope that he was right with them both before he passed. I was there & her famous Daddy singing this out on the powerful sound system on Graceland Lawn at 9 am in the morning it was an almighty sound, prior to the Memphis coral choir coming on for Lisa Marie's funeral service.
It was a moment in Rock n Roll history I will treasure for ever.

My father was a musician, he was in the Sioux city orchestra and was a music teacher. He was in multiple choir groups and growing up was one of our church singers. One of my childhood memories was that whenever they wanted this song sung, they had my father sing it as a solo.

I cannot hear this song without it bringing back the wonderful memories of when as a young boy I observed my aged Grandfather sitting in his big wooden chair on the podium at the front of his little country southern baptist church singing this song with great enthusiasm as he prepared to give another inspirational Sunday morning sermon. I will never forget. RIP.

This was one of my late dad's favourite songs. It's 3 years today since he passed away... And I'm playing this in his honour. We also played it at his bedside on 25 June 2017 and at his funeral. He used to put this on repeat on long roadtrips to Cape Town to visit my mom's family. I miss you so much poppa bear.

This exact version was played at my fathers funeral this past Sunday may 14th 2023 . It was in a massive funeral home . The sound was like Elvis himself was there singing . I was really surprised to hear this when it started playing . It was the most perfect song for him . He also sang amazing grace first . While the officers were standing at attention during the entire service dressed in uniform with white gloves . When they closed the lid on the casket there was a black fella that was at least 6ft 10 or taller stood facing my father , clicked his heels and gave the greatest salute I’ve ever seen . I was so proud to be my fathers son . He was a 50 + year police officer/ detective for Knoxville Tn . He and his twin brother both retired at the same time .
