- In our second series, we embark on a journey through Egypt, diving into its rich history, vibrant culture, and meeting its people. After completing our trek across Jordan, we arrive tired but eager for our adventure. Whilst the first hotel (Rihana Pyramids View) offers awesome views over the Pyramids, our excitement is dampened when the hotel we visit in Hurghada (Stella Makadi) gives us food poisoning. We made them aware so that they don’t make other guests sick - which was a bit awkward but we felt a duty of care to those who come after us. As we recuperate we headed to Luxor, where we encounter quite persistent approaches from locals vying for our attention. We understand that they’re just trying to earn a living but it’s a bit intense! Despite these initial challenges, our spirits are lifted when we discover a hidden gem of a hotel in Luxor (Nile Panorama). With its rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of village life against a backdrop of desert mountains, and a refreshing pool to unwind in, our stay in Luxor exceeds our expectations. I lived in Egypt many years ago and vaguely remember someone telling me that if the buildings unfinished they pay less tax on it, hence why you see so many building look like they stopped building above a certain level and no roof.
That’s interesting! Yeah it doesn’t seem like a general Middle Eastern thing because they didn’t look like that in Jordan. It creates a real vibe! Thanks for watching!
Quick tips: the exposed brick building, these buildings have been partially removed to widen the streets and they are being refinished by the city so it will take time. Also you can get a room directly in front of the pyramids panorama for the same price.
Yeah I think you’re right about the ones that follow the highway (I know these are the ones I showed in the video!) but I think a lot of the poorer neighbourhoods also have exposed brick work. Thanks for the hotel tip too!!

Nile Panorama is a real gem! It’s funny isn’t it: we went to the big expensive hotel but it was nothing in comparison! Although there is one small hotel that really screws us which you’ll see later in the series 😅 You’ve started dangerous precedent here Kiki… you look forward to our videos but we look forward to your comments 🤣 you’re locked in now - jokes!!
