Takes me right back to my teens! Had a 97 TSI AWD and then traded that for a 99 Eclipse GSX. Wish I never got rid of ‘em! After the Need for speed/Fast & Furious era it’s getting so hard to find a nice stock example of these, especially the Talon’s.
I'm still finding them everywhere in central canada, I sold my mint condition 100k mile 92 talon awd in 2021.........seen it 3 months later with the passenger side caved in and the nice rare momo exhaust system hacked up and fart cannon added, was super disappointing. Means my 90k mile 2gb eclipse gsx, 98 tsi awd or my last 1g awd aren't being sold period even tho I've gott'n back into the supra game.
I had one of these. It was a 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD. The 4G63t engine was an amazing platform that's capable of some amazing power figures. I have built many of them, including one that I built and swapped into my 1992 Plymouth Colt hatchback. This Talon is what's known as a "1gb" meaning a 1st generation, second design. My 1990 had a different rear end.
Those Chrysler engines were actually Mitsubishi engines rebranded with a Chrysler value cover. Go with an Evo. Unless you don't care about that then go with a Honda motor.
besides center caps, the wheels are also distinctively missing lugnuts. and someone BETTER save this poor thing. 80's and 90's surviors are rare as hens teeth 'cause they usually get driven into the ground or were turned into "rolling radios"...and finding out that there's a surviving Eagle out there is jaw dropping enough.
Sprayway makes an aerosol carpet spotter works fantastic for stains. I'm a reconditioning specialist at a local subaru dealership. Also try a red drill brush
On that flat paint... try using some transmission fluid. It's an old, very old, car show trick. Just wipe it on, and watch as it shines up like new. It will only last for a few days, at most, but it will give you a very good idea of what it would look like when it's repainted.
@@eaglepoint56 I was just a kid with no money and an old rusted crappy looking car and some old guy told me about it, and it worked remarkably well. It was also great in that it kept idiots from sitting on your car, since they'd get oil all over them. As I said it would generally last a few days - although I mainly used it when I was going on a date or going to show off since it shined up the car like it was brand new. Not sure how a used car salesman would pull this off since the coat would literally feel like it was coated in oil.
My roomate had one of these new back in college and it was amazing. You have to find the stock engine. Its an awesome driver's car if you get it running again. My roomate had a sweet 90s Alpine radio and subs. It would thump!
You can find 4g63T for from $2k to over $7k, depending on what you want to do with it. You should definitely take that back to factory config. It's really the only way.
That wheel was missing two studs and a center cap! Hope you saved it! Just make sure you get the correct 4G63. I have a 90 Tsi AWD and a 95 Tsi AWD. Miss those cars a lot! Can still get pretty clean ones for under $10k.
Hope you like doing lots and lots of welding to fit that engine in this car. It won't look very much like the original car when you're done. Good luck.
Ty for sharing, awesome work getting it back to standards ... I had couple of these ..... from the Talon's -- Black tsi awd 91, and a 92 + 93 gray once as well ... I think this is the n/a talon -- not the turbo ... normally those came with 16in wheels and a cooler on the right side ... but I didn't see under the hood so only guessing since i didn't see any TSI stickers ...
Just an FYI Eagle was Chrysler's captive import brand originally for former AMC's captive brand engineered products inherited from Chrysler's purchase of AMC in 1987. Eagle was also the brand for AMC's badge engineered Renault cars. This brand was largely phased out by the mid 90s. The Talon got a brief life as a badge engineered clone for the first and second generation Diamond Star Motors or DSM cars including the Mitsubishi Eclipse and first gen only Plymouth Laser.
I detail out of Kentucky and if theres any stubborn stains in the carpet i usually remove the carpet spray my carpet cleaner on it let it sit for like 5 to 10 minutes agitated and then pressure wash it

Citrus force max asd works great for stains use it full strength let it dwell while your doing the plastics then go over with your normal carpet cleaner brush and extractor

Great video! The engine is actually a Mitsubishi turbo RG63. These are found in the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Lance EVO. The Eclipse GSX drive train is nearly identical to that of the Talons.
Being in the UK Eagle is not a name i know off but after looking via google was these based on the Mitsubishi Eclipse? How hard is the running gear from them to get over there? Great video guy's and keep them coming 😃
Believe it or not, the eclipse (and the Plymouth Laser) were based on the Talon platform, powered by Mitsubishi (then owned by Chrysler-Jeep-Eagle). Even after the Eclipse and Laser were discontinued, they still made the Talon. These were the quickest cars on the road in the early 90's.
@@bellwethertrucking3650 That’s not accurate at all. First, Chrysler never owned Mitsubishi. These DSM’s were just a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. The Talon was the second to get discontinued when Chrysler dropped the Eagle brand in 98. The Plymouth laser never made it to the 2nd gen design, it was discontinued after 94. After the Talon ended in 98, the Eclipse got two more generations on its own running up until 2012 when it was discontinued.
@nsean479 Being from a UAW family, I always caught so much grief for liking imports. At one of the union picnics, they had an early 70's Fairlady 1600 that they were charging $5 to whack with a sledgehammer. 😭

5/12/24 its missing the Eagle symbol that is in the center of the wheel.
