Truly an amazing, original story of doing what you love while being who you want. Terry Pratchett's books have never ceased to satisfy, and this show has done the story a great justice.
What an amazing journey this was! The animation was absolute jank with the charm of the late 90s, but the characters were superb! The dialogue was surprisingly good and entertaining, however the story was all over the place I think, I could barely piece together what it was trying to convey if I think about it. Nevertheless it was enjoyable, no bad characters, Death really stole the show! Christopher Lee, may he rest in peace, was extraordinary.
I really love Death. "Now that's what I call music with rocks in!" I love that little "smirk" at 14:17, and he and Susan at the end are so cute! (Sorry to keep commenting on these)
@@Xrisus94 I think this is the actual intent. Band with Rocks in plays early 60s to some late 70s music, while Death's riff sounds something right out of Yngwie Malmsteen. Also, while early rock really had this "i'm going to live forever" mentality, metal has a very different ethos. Despite living through the Cuban Missile crisis, early rock shys away from negativity. 60 and 70 music rarely dwelt on death and stark reality, while its all the 80s and 90s seem to want to talk about. Considering even the cultures in question agree on how this went down, it's a great reference. Death literally kills early rock with metal, fucking brilliant.
He pulled an even bigger power move in the book. There, he can only play one thing: the swan song of the universe. Thus the Music is forced to bring Buddy back to counter it.
@@shoopoop21 'Now thats what i call music with Rocks in' seems to echo how rock fans tend to argue constantly about what is and isnt rock music whilst also being a pun because he smashed the guitar on rock.

Only watching an animated series can I feel joy from hearing Christopher Lee's voice saying, "Yes, it was, wasn't it?" Think of anything other situation. He got tired of God's trumpet malarkie, and got bored with old Nick's Violin, and his son's banjo, so he tried something a little less majestic or sinister, and a little more epic.
This is exactly right, and just what I was thinking, but it must have been impossible to find a way to make sound die - it couldn't just be silence, it would have to be something much more powerful.

I just got back from the bookstore with guards guards when I found out Pratchett had his little chat with death.
something about hearing Chris Lee as Death say "oh bugger" makes my day everytime!

Death on a Magitek motorcycle, bursting out of the rose bed. Now THAT'S music with rocks in.
Absolutely! Now where have I seen that image before?
@@madgeordie4469 Death was riding that like a bat out of Hell, wasn't he?
@@dj1NM3 Very much so!
I want to believe that Christopher Lee actually did that guitar riff as death considering he did have a metal band
The wizards thought Death was coming for them, but they were shoved aside with a polite "excuse me"
Rest in peace Sir Terry Pratchet & Sir Christopher Lee! You will be missed forever!
lars lundquist i didn't even know Christopher Lee! was dead
poor guy
ohh i see
I cant tell why, but death saying "oh bugga" as he rides full throttle off a cliff is really funny to me.
ALSO in Christopher Lee’s voice
😂😂😂
I'm almost certain that this is the only place where you can hear Christopher Lee say "Oh, Bugger!"
“ If I’m gonna live, and if I’m gonna die, I’m gonna do it it as a me!” the best quote ever!

I love how they made Imp progress through the stages of rock in this adaption.
Why are you walking around with that duck on your head?

Ah. Sorry.
Death riding a badass motorcycle and playing a guitar. Pratchet is my new favorite author eh

It’s a pity they made Buddy the new gardener. In the book he works at a chip shop (and the girls swear he’s elvish).
I mean, he looks elvish to me...

they did not have to make death go this hard. i love it
Death can only play one chord. Specifically, the empty chord that signifies the end of music
Death Metal INDEED !!!
😂😂😂
Buddy should have said "I will start off the events with a harp solo that I created during my childhood"
That 'Evlish' joke always gets me.
YES! death on a motor bike and slamming the guitar to kill music! METAL!
Death metal eh?

Never knew death played so well.
He got tired of God's trumpet malarkie, and got bored with old Nick's Violin, and his son's banjo, so he tried something a little less majestic or sinister, and a little more epic.
Didn't he originally use a shard of his scythe as plectrum to silence the guitar, though? That was so much more epic.
This is exactly right, and just what I was thinking, but it must have been impossible to find a way to make sound die - it couldn't just be silence, it would have to be something much more powerful.
I saw Jimi Hendrix at the Roundhouse. He put the guitar down on the stage and it seemed to be alive. Was Terry there that night?
