I remember getting Treasure Island when I was having a bad day as a kid. My mom remembered when we visited a friend who had it and I really wanted that set too. I have good childhood memories about the 4 Juniors pirates sets. Still love them.
Loved these sets had 3 of these when i was a kid. And really liked the scimitars, probably my favourite lego weapon, to me it works well with normal minifigures as well :D
Me and my brother had all the sets growing up. We ended up repurposing the ships to mini figure scale ships and had loads of fun with it. I never knew how many elements were unique to this theme as ive included the jugs in many castle or market builds. Good memories, thanks!
So cool to see that you also held on to your LEGOLAND Pirates bag! It was actually what the kids meals came in. There was also a Clickits one with the very not great Bratz looking characters lol
I was just a bit too old for these while they were new, but little me really wanted Redbeard's ship. Finally, a huge lego pirate ship that floats! Flick off the weird 4+ figs for some proper minifigs and the scale would make it truly impressive.
38:53 That alternate build is great! I think it would be awesome if you used that build as inspiration to make a proper ship for Captain Kragg utilizing the Durmstrang boat hull you conveniently already own!
I honestly don't hate this theme as much as I'm sure many do, I appreciate the times lego embraces more silly things, and it's useful to have things like this for little kids who really appreciate the size of sets more than anything else. Or at least I did
The chrome sword looks more like a twohanded scimitar than a sabre or sword that a pirate would wield, it is so massive :) I'm not crazy about the larger figures, but the sets are somewhat interesting. I'm a much bigger fan of the earlier pirate sets, so I hope you are going to visit those at some point. Still, thanks for visiting these obscure sets that I didn't even know existed!
@@CheeseyStudios You might be able to. These are just great from a pirate point of view, but from a lego and building point of view, using these obscure elements just seems a bit un-lego-like. For sure having a floating ship is great, but it is not like they completely went away from it. I bought the Polar Explorer at a big discount this year with my brother to have a base for a container ship we could design around the boat elements and it is supposed to float as well. (haven't tested it yet)
I still love that back in the day I was in the firm believe that MY pirateship was way better than the one my brother had. Looking back I never had a chance. I had the 4+ one and my brother had the blackseas barracuda
Oh, the horror. I am glad that I was in my dark ages when these sets where around. It looks like an crossing between LEGO and Playmobil. I normally never sell any of my LEGO, but I actually sold these figures I got in a big batch of used LEGO ;)
This was one of the Lego themes that really got me into lego, along with Vikings and Mars Mission. Thank you so much for covering these old themes and sets, really hits the feels!
Glad you got to experience this theme in person, too! As a kid, I've no doubt these would have been a ton of fun. The sets make for a nice and easy introduction to the LEGO System.
@@CheeseyStudios these were my introduction into LEGO, even had the underwater motor to make the big ship float around the bathtub. Yes, the figs were not traditional, but does it really matter more to a 3 year old, than the ability to build all kinds of stuff from big and approachable parts?
These sets were my childhood! I would love to own all of these sets once again. If you're still looking to sell them I would for sure be interested. But shipping from the US to The Netherlands isn't going to be cheap I fear.
Pirates of the Caribbean just needs to come back lol. With all these massive UCS and whatevers, they need to start making more boats and scenes from the movies
18:33 this skull piece means a lot to me, because you can wear it as a mask in LEGO POTC the videogame! Would you please check if there's a possibility to fit it on a normal minifigure like a mask? Would aprreciate that a lot, because I am sooo curious is this possible in a real life 😊 I love this Pirate subtheme, all these big elements and crazy names - especially Scurvy Dog;) Lego was really not afraid to do crazy things back then, wish LEGO would still do so
Used to have some of these pirates, thought they were fake lego for a time, but I saw they were alright so I put them with my ninjago pirates, I mean, there was already a giant and a genie, he fit in fine lol Yeah I noticed its always 2004 changes lol, and thats when I was born OOOoooh the big red ship, thats where it came from, that explains the huge pieces
I love that you combined them with Ninjago 😂 I mean, you're right - weirder stuff has come out of that theme! They're cool figures in their own right, but it's definitely hard to get over that they're not what we're used to.
This theme was my jam as a 5 year old. Though my nostalgia glasses are not on because this looks quite bad now. 4 year olds these days have way better sets now.
Itonically this is the only pirate sets I have had (so far) I still know where Kragg's ship is (Though its not original, I swapped the back portion with the steering wheel for the large launcher from Dino Attack's Fire Hammer set)
Ok, im going to admit it. I now want that jack stone pirate ship... ☠️ thanks a lot, Caleb.. lol I didn't know anything about these sets.. another rabbit hole I have to go down...
It's such a deep cut in the LEGO lore, that's for sure! I could not believe how hard these were to find though. Love that the ship floats. Wish we got more pirate ships that did!
love Lego Pirates, especially the later sets with the Islanders and the shipwreck islands. so... when are you going to review Knights' Kingdom's 2006 constraction figures and sets? i always loved Vladek's 2nd design and his 3rd design made me dream of going back to the 2nd one to give him a gnarly tattered cape and spiky armor parts!
Hopefully... soon. I've been very, very busy at work so I haven't had time to work on many (if any) videos lately. I'm really praying that 2025 will be a bit easier so we can get back to monthly Revisiting episodes!
Fascinating. You say these Jack Stone figures cannot be customized... but they had to be assembled at least once. Is there no way to take them apart? Not with a screwdriver or pliers, etc?
When I was a kid I asked for the LEGO black pearl set, and obviously it was too expensive so my parents bought me the LEGO pirates ship set, I thought it was some off brand junk, little did I know what I actually had
I don't know how these headgear pieces are attached to the figures bit they look like they would fit onto regular minifigures because of the same head diameter. I also noticed that the Jack stones policeman just uses a regular minifigure cap. If they can be removed somehow, they would work pretty well for custom pirates figures
Soooo I forgot I had this small raft. But thinking of it it makes totally sense. I have that big catapult piece the weird rubbery rod and a lot of weird brown pieces
Yaaarrrgg!!!! It be time for thee most bizarre form of nostalgia from the Pirates theme! ☠️ But I really want Lego to bring back the Hagrid hands just for the fun of it 😅
Hey! Unrelated, but I just found a sealed copy of the Knights Kingdom board game - have you seen it before? Played it with my roommates, it was certainly something.
I remember as a child I stole a friend's 4+ Pirates minifigure from his house after he said I couldn't have it even though it was a duplicate... so, Jamie, if you're reading this and want your pirate back, hit me up.
Don't fret! It doesn't update automatically. :) I'll be manually adding all the new names before the next Minecraft episode! I really do appreciate the support, and hopefully you'll be seeing your name on the list very soon.
bro, there's a REASON we don't talk about it. You have disrespected the code, and I don't care if they're only guidelines! You're like that friend from childhood who keeps bringing up the most embarrassing things you've ever done. LEGO wants us to forget about this, but noooo you have to remind everyone about it publicly 🤣
I can't believe Cheesey would just lie to his audience and prove his own title wrong in one fell swoop by being someone to talk about this theme. 0/10 I'm cancelling my channel membership over this betrayal. Obviously what he should have done is post this with an AI voice to keep that title authenticity.

@CheeseyStudios make sure to document this scientific discovery, or their sacrifice will be for nothing
Great now I got a feeling that I have to collect these for my museum 😅 thanks 😂
You at least gotta get the figs, ha! Thankfully they are dirt cheap lolol
@CheeseyStudios Definetly! And while I am at it I might as well collect all 4+ figures😂
They need to reboot the classic themes, especially castle because i dont remember anything except nexo knights

They're pretty durable! I had to give them all a pretty good scrub down before filming anyway, so I learned that they handle water quite well.
@CheeseyStudios that's good, considering how old those pieces are! The old Jabbas sail barge cloth pieces are not able to handle water 😬
