One of the best cleans and crunch I’ve heard. Not to mention the high gain can get really ballsy. I’m so surprised that I don’t hear much about these amps.
Out of all of your videos, this amp really caught my ear! Amazing definition and clarity! I’d like to hear a comparison with a vintage 30 loaded cabinet and the current one.
Michael thanks for posting this my friend! I have heard of this amp for eyars but never got to test drive one and I have haven't heard one - your demo of this sells it for me! 🙂
sold my purple face 2150 a couple years. Absolutely the holy grail of power amps. I had an ultra lead and a pit bull cl. The ultra lead is truly one of the best amps ever created.
Thanks for the awesome video, Mike! I always enjoy watching your videos. Your video demo a while back of the Friedman BE-50 Deluxe, is what talked me into buying it, along with a Friedman 4x12 speaker cabinet, and I couldn't be more happy. Thank God for 48 month 0% interest plans from Sweetwater, which was what enabled me to afford the rig. Not cheap at all, being 5k for both, but I was more than happy to make that long time sacrifice, to enable me to have my Dream Rig. I, myself, prefer the BE-50 Deluxe over the BE-100 Deluxe, as do, surprisingly many other people. The only thing I that I wish the BE-50 Deluxe Head had, was the Plexi Channel from the Smallbox, that the BE-100 Deluxe has. I'm looking at going the cheapest route to get a nice Plexi sound, from clean to mean, by buying the Wampler Plexi Deluxe Pedal, for $200-$250 dollars, from Sweetwater. ******What is your opinion on that specific Plexi Pedal, for the clean and dirty plexi sounds that it has, compared to other Plexi Pedals? If you were in my position, would that be the Plexi Pedal that you would choose to buy? If not, which plexi pedal would it be? I greatly value your opinion on the matter, since you are an amazingly talented musician, and guitar equipment demo guy!**** Thanks in advance from Sonny in New Orleans, La. 🎸🎸 🔥🔥
Steve makes my fav amps! While they're widely know for being super aggressive for heavy tones they clean up exceedingly well! Many Nashville guys have them in their arsenal. The Fryette speaker cabs are unbelievable too. Great demo of an amazing amp! Lots of color there. Really hears your guitars & pickups. BadA$$ demo! 🤘😎🤘
I had a VHT Deliverance D-120 back in 2008 Loved it could do anything with it. Played a Paul Reed Smith 513 Rosewood back then. Guitar and amp fit like a hand in a glove! one of those wish i hadn't done it things. I sold both so I could pay the mortgage once. least I can say I had them and smile.
@@viperBSG I bet you do! But you know, I have a few guitars and amps I wish I had back as well. Funny, I was chatting a friend about that recently. His big regret is letting go of a mint early 70's HiWatt back in college. I said, too bad we all couldn't be millionaires and just keep everything. Lol! Ah well. Be glad you were so lucky to find such a combo....and maybe one day you will get that rig back!
I've always been intrigued by this head, had the opportunity to pick one up once but the deal fell through. I had an older VHT Pitbull Classic that sounded pretty good, super tight and sorta glassy. Always regretted selling it. Good shit man.
Killer amp, sick playing and great video bro! Love the tuning edit by the way 🤣 Too many videos nowadays have horrible intonation issues and cats that just don't tune (KILLS ME)!
These amps are the real deal, super low noise floor and ball crushing gain. Hard to make this amp sound bad, new ones have the footswitchable less/more which is fantastic for gain junkies.
That thing sounds so articulate in this video - how much of that comes down to using Fanes in that cab? Would love to hear it with the Fryette cab against your Bogner cab.
Hi Mike, don't know if you recall but when you did that great demo on the BE-50, do you know or remember when on the BE/HBE channels, where did you like the gain structure best - low, mid or high? Thanks.
If you haven’t tried one, yet, they’re super articulate with anything, really. Mine is probably the most articulate high gain amp I’ve ever owned, including all 4 of my Soldano amps- SLO, included. I’m using mine in a self-built, ported 2x12, loaded with an Eminence CV-75 and a Celestion G12T-75. It loves both speakers, individually, but the combo is sooooo nice! The Deliverance is my all-time favorite amp.
Thank you so much for demoing the head and the cab with the Fanes! The Ultra Lead is perhaps my ultimate amp and this just makes me want one even more. I've played a D60 and loved it, but the D120 sounds a bit bigger from what I can recall. And it seems to have more of that vicious quick and tight response Fryette is known for.
What Fender Tele is that? Very nice. I own a VHT 50 ST EL84 1995 and an Ultra Lead 2008. Fantastic amps very articulate and for many years i though they were like a Hiwatt. Till l heard the interview with Steve his fav amp of the 1970's was this 50 Watt Hiwatt he had.
Michael can you maybe post a video tutorial of how to record Video/Audio and what you use including cameras, software? Or maybe a link to a current vid already posted? I have an apogee duet into a iMac, multiple mics, UA Ox, Bogner, Friedman, Boogie, Suhr and have no clue how to record Video with stereo Audio simultaneously. Help!
I just got a Fryette Deliverance and was looking at this video for tone ideas. I noticed at 1:21 you mention "overdrive all the way off", which also makes sense from the sound you get (I think). But the panel that shows up at the top is showing the overdrive to be all the way up. Was this a mistake, or did I hear you incorrectly and it is actually all the way up? Thank you for your review.
Funny - I just have one in backorder and it will be my second one as well, as I miss my first Deliverance that much... Should not have sold it, back in 2007(?) - big mistake.
Michael Nielsen yeah it does actually, I was comparing as I watched your video, changing between the less and more channel (mode) I was quite impressed. It’s a great amp.
Hi, could you please share your settings on the van halen parts? I have the d60 since a lot of of years and it's really an awesome amp. Dig your reviews, keep rockin' man!
Thanks for an awesome demo! The Deliverance is one of the best amps ever made! I have the D60 which I use with P50 speakers and a Power Load for headphones. I’m looking for a good pedal to push the front, so you think a tubescreamer type pedal or more clean boost sounds better with the Deliverance? Friedman Golden Pearl?
Ken, I’ve been using a VFE Standout pedal to push my Deliverance 60. It’s a clean mid-boost with HPF and LPF knobs, so you can really sculpt your tone with it. All the distortion comes from the amp, not the pedal. I think this is the way to go.
We will turn full circle and when we're done biting our ass we'll start a desperate search looking back for tube amps like deliverance 120, Marshall KK and peavey 6505. I would love if you play some Megadeth riffs from youthanasia album. It is said Mustaine used a CAE preamp into VHT2150. Other than this little request, cheers from Morocco.
This is absolutely solid. Steven Fryette = High Caliber Guitar Tone... in my younger days I carried the VHT Pitbull Ultralead into small venues with the Indy rock band I was a part of and we filled the venues with super sonic goodness. After listening to this several times, I think this is the amp to run stereo with the Bogner Helios through the 4x12 greenbacks and vintage 30's I currently own and love. Thanks for the demo. Recently, I've been paying more attention to the stories of the architects of tone like Friedman, Fryette, and Bogner. I like Fryette's tale. He loves Hiwatts and I sensed that kind of mentality in the VHT I had for some 23 years. What are your thoughts about the differences between the Friedman be 100 deluxe and the Deliverance 120? (I see that the series II has an effects loop for the Fryette?) I think those speakers are part of the equation for sure.
I'd love to, but I've never seen one in LA. I'm not sure they make it all the way out here. I know Kotzen has one, and he lives in LA. But I haven't seen em around.

I don’t know, maybe I’m old fashioned but I think it sounds thin on the highs and mushy. Not smooth. What was call thick on the lead sounded buzzy to me. It does look cool but if you’re going to do an amp video, put it through it’s paces, add mid, add bottom, scoop mids for metal, cut highs. Looked like it was everything at 12 o’clock or so. Too trebly for blues or southern rock. But, every amp isn’t for everyone but if it has characteristics, show them. Don’t just change the gain. 🙂
The clean tone with the effects added post at about 2:45 is fantastic.

Pitbull and Ultralead were way better amps this one is a major let down for metal players. I’ll stick to Mesa, Diezel and better high gain amps.
