@@lilmao4482 Of course things change. When you want to adopt a child you have pass a lot of checks though. Why should a biological child be any different?
@@Sapphire867 cause people can stop an adoption, not many people can stop a birth. I'm against abortion btw but people can change after they give birth so if they did do a test before wanting to conceive a kid would they have to do it after? And if they fail what would happen to the kid? Not all adoption centers nor foster homes are great either, even foster parents can be great when they first get the foster kid but end up being assholes too...
Gosh that reminded me when I was like 14 I went with my best friend to her baby cousin's birthday party, and there was this little girl obviously from a poor family and after a while of getting to know her she wouldn't let go of me,she would constantly be in my arms and when I had to tell her I had to go home she just hugged me for five minutes straight and started crying, later my friend's mom told me she was sexually abused by her uncle and was struggling at home,my heart still breaks whenever I think of that
"Thankfully, his mom wasn't as controlled as I was." _oh no, she's gonna keep her cool and not do anything_ "She tried ripping her husband's head off-" _hell yea!_ "at the police station" _HELL YEA_
When I was in high school a was talking to a friend and a teacher overheard what happened to me and got me to talk to cps and the police. I said please don't call my dad, you'll make my life worse, both times. Both of them contacted my dad in less than a day.
I’m getting so MAD at CPS right now. The kids that get beaten for low test scores, have cuts and bruises, and all others don’t get jack. The kids who haven’t BATHED ONCE IN A WHILE get called upon. I’m so glad that the person and sisters that got beat daily grew to 18 years old in time. I still hate that CPS didn’t do jack.
Abuse comes in different trees mental and physical + others you can just down it to one if a parent slaps you it may not harm you much physically but it will harm you mentally even if it’s a bit
@@GlitterGirlBellaBruises are absolutely abuse. Corporal punishment always causes more problems than it solves. No child ever deserves to be hit by their parents.
"I had a five year old wrap me up in a bear hug and beg me to adopt him so he could have a mommy who loved him. He'd known me for two hours, and I'd told him I liked his drawing." i had to pause the video and cry a little bit when i heard that
They’re selfish and don’t want to either stay abstinent til they’re ready to raise a human or don’t like they way condoms feel. If I had parents like these I would’ve been fine being aborted.
Fun fact: this is very true from personal experience. So basically, not beating, but a lot of problems (not gonna state what.) at home were going on, and CPS didn’t give a fuck. But then when I walked to school in the rain.. here comes CPS!
Bouncer: "This is a Legends only club. Who do you think you are comin in here." Lady: "I'm the mom from the gay kids story" Bouncer: *sweating * "r-right this way ma'am..."
She's fuq¡ng amazing. I applaud her with all my might. That's how I want to react when people tell my friends/myself crap for being who they are, but I can't risk getting in serious trouble.
I like how CPS did nothing when multiple kids were being beaten by their mother but then CPS takes the kids away because they didn't have a damn bath.... CPS sucks bruh.
That's called neglect. If you have taken a college psychology class, you would know the link between neglect of a childs hygiene and behaviour. It's a red flag. Not always, but in most cases.
Abbygail Kulp a teenager who doesn’t know how to bathe himself because his mother does it, and whose said mother has mental problems is a huge red flag for neglect. Since an adult woman is bathing a fully capable teenage boy, I’d wager there might be some sexual abuse going on.
that lady who tried ripping her husband's head off need an award for the best mother. I mean never mess with a mama bear and her cubs or you might just get killed (sorry if that didnt make any sense)
Das a super mom right there. 5’2” and only 100 pounds? That’s smaller than me and I’m still in high school. And it took four police officers to pull her off him? She’s a beast and I support her
If anyone's wondering, yes CPS really does send a full report to your parents if you call them. And yes it gets more children beaten and/or killed than anyone wants to admit. CPS does nothing helpful 99% of the time Edit: this is the most liked comment so i felt i should clarify a couple things. CPS in the US isn't entirely bad, however my job (that i had up until i got pregnant and had to switch practices) exists solely because of CPSs incompetence and indifference to actual abuse cases. It's true they can only do so much but the sheer amount of people they don't help is unfathomable. I hated my old job. Yes it was a job i knew i was helping people and it did feel great to help them but i hated that my job existed. And when someone asked about my job i could never answer honestly without crying "I just took on a new client whos 14 and has no legs because his dad got drunk, shot him and he had to have them amputated. Now he wants to live with his aunt but the dad is refusing to give up custody so he won't lose any unemployment benifits" Also it's true the foster care system is full of children CPS has helped by removing them from their homes. But the system is completely overrun and its part of why CPS is so ineffective. People don't want to deal with "problem children" so very very few are fostering the children that so desperately want and deserve to be loved and kept safe.
And if they do get them away from their parents, they just send them to Foster homes that treat them just as badly. Makes me sick that America is this way
@@bunniiac Only on rare occasions are foster parents actually good. I had a friend who's sibling is in foster care and his careless, druggy parents have gotten him removed from an amazing foster mother. She worked hours and provided him well, but somehow they have him removed and restarted with a complete stranger. Justice system is crazy
Baller Shot Caller That’s true, but I’m guessing he was probably handcuffed when she went off on him, and also figured punching someone in the middle of a police station, even in retaliation, maybe wouldn’t reflect well on him.
@@midnightmist9924 Idiot. Maybe research how many cases CPS blatantly ignores. 9/10 CPS ignores clear abuse that even comes from the child's mouth and they just ignore it and the child continues to get abused. I've talked to actual abuse victims for years. Maybe you should do the same.
My motherly nature makes me wanna adopt all of these kids and give them love, hope, and so much validation. These poor kids dude. I'm crying especially when the part of the homophobic dad came.
I wish my mom was like you, I’ve had multiple extreme panic attacks In front of her and she tells me I’m overreacting, she had the same reaction when she saw cuts all over my arms, when I asked to get mental help, and when I told her I wanted to die, long story short we don’t talk anymore
When it said the part where the girl got raped by her father I literally started sobbing. It’s terrible that there are actually people who live in these types of households...
Kid: Calls CPS because of serial abuse and physical harm of all three of them CPS: *nothing after over an entire year of useless waiting and investigation* Kid: Refuses to bathe because his Mum wasn't there to do it for him CPS in a Matter if less than four hours: *WE GOTTA GET THESE KIDS OUT STAT!! those two stories back to back genuinely pissed me off because CPS almost constantly will reliably do the WRONG thing
Or to think about it CPS was called because a mom made her daughter walk one mile and immediately took action. But that kid beaten for answering wrong had to wait almost a year to get help he needed
Well if she was bathing them at age wouldnt that count as sexual abuse. Plus that's not a good parent. If he doesn't know how to bathe properly that's neglect plain and simple.
Clever bc parents can abandon being a parent but kids can't abandon being kids cuz everyone has been a kid before (called childhood) so dont abandon your kids
@@allyma3 But you have to know how that comes about. If it happens once or so, parents can easily say their kid had an accident. A pediatritian might ckeck if that sounds plausible, but if it does, you can not just take the children away. Your kid having a bad fall might happen if you just don't look for a few seconds, which is not even neglect, depending on the kids age. If a child is vruised over a long time, or out right tells CPS that their parents hit them, it is a different story, though.
Cps had the time to waste on my parents when my sister’s middle school nurse reported that she, a type 1 diabetic, was having high sugar levels after lunch, but they can’t deal with actual abuse???
we got taken away because my sister was a trouble making cunt, thats four kids all because my sister wanted to be a defiant bitch, she's always been a terrible person, hope she's fucking happy, thats where i saw my first weiner, got beat daily, and learned how to flip people off, all at the age of 2-4 dont remember how old i was age wasnt an import thing to remember at that point.
Myoukei ikr, one day I missed a shower bc I was up doing homework and my hair got oily and the school called CPS on us 💀 in like 6th grade and I was like wtf there are some kids that are actually suffering why don’t u just help them instead of me I’m perfectly fine 🤡
@@มาช่า-ญ9ณ meanwhile i went long periods of time without showering in middle school without anyone aside from this little shit on the bus saying anything about it, what is wrong- with people
This is pretty much what's wrong with CPS though. They will avoid removing the child at all costs if the child is scared of or wants to get away from their parent, thinking they can just counsel away the "dysfunctional family" (which means falsely treating everyone in the family as if they have equal power, so as not to offend to abusers, which makes the kids pissed, which makes them look like the instigator since years of childhood abuse and shitty parenting leads to no emotional regulation, and using that they gaslight the kid into as if they're responsible for their parents' behavior in front of the parents who are eating that shit up since they don't have to take responsibility for their actions). Then they get someone who's just fallen on hard times and separate the family. Really it should be the other way around and they get financial aid for poor families
"why would CPS do nothing?" or "why would CPS do that?" the reason is that the case workers have 20x the case load they should have and the managers are usually against them and they are heart-breakingly underfunded
i dont get why that lady tried to kill that girl by giving the abusers the damn report. It would have been better if thst girl just got a knife and killed the parents.
@@Kris-wo4pj Probably should have done so. Logically speaking, it has several merits. 1.) Siblings are free from the abuse 2.) The abuse combined with the juvenile status could be a mitigating circumstance in the trial 3.) Less pieces of shit in the world
Kris yeah, I can understand the underfunding, but to give the report to the parent was like a death sentence... I hope that isn’t apart of the standard protocol
The one where the kid said “can you adopt me I want a mommy who loves me”. Only because she said she loved his drawing. Made me Cry, more than the abuse ones. 😭😭😭😭
That second story... I hope the cops took their time pulling her off of him. If that man is in prison - and I'm sure he is - he's not making it out alive. There's something oddly comforting in knowing that even the most hardened criminals in there have that one line that they won't cross; and that's harming a kid.
@@evadedenbach1226 Yeah, the only people lower on the totem pole than child harmers are pedos and child molesters. Those guys are in so much danger of getting beaten to death that they get put into PC (but I REALLY wish they'd get put into GP).
@@evadedenbach1226 I'm not sure about the animals one. I'd say that one depends on if it was intentional or not, what animal it was, and how you killed them.
I watched a mother slap her baby in the face when I was with my family out in public, the baby was crying extremely hard while the mother was yelling at the baby, some people should not be parents..
Just call the police, you can make things worse by antagonising the abuser. Just call emergency services, stay on the phone and don’t let them leave your sight. If they get in a car, give the plate number to emergency services.
MOST of the time they don’t. When they said CPS only made one visit and sent the parent the REPORT, /Thats/ what happens. CPS is fucking abysmal and doesn’t give a shit about abused kids. It’s disturbingly frequent and yet doesn’t get talked about nearly as often as it should.
Unfortunately a lot of times they do nothing or make the problem worse by telling the parents. Then the kid gets pulverized again for revealing the parents' shitty treatment of them.
I’m an abuse victim, they don’t care. My care worker watched as I was slammed against a wall for “running to fast in a race against my little sister”. I tried to die. And when I gave up and just accepted life my dad (the abuser) asked me why I wasn’t still trying during a fight, when I said how strangling myself didn’t work he said “there are other ways” The police said to “get a therapist” and “we’re not the people to tell” these all take place over multiple years and more have happened with half of them being lost to time with the youngest memory being at four
9:10 Definitely an accurate portrayal of how a lot of CPS cases _actually_ go: CPS comes for a house visit with the parent sitting right next to the kid, sends a very detailed copy of the report to the parent, and radio silence from then on.
Heard a story where everyone said the mom was unstable and the kids should go to their dad. Years of interviews. Even the mother herself said in an apparent moment of clarity ‘I’m scared I’m going to hurt them’. CPS only steps in after Mom and her bf beat the oldest boy to death. This is a world without justice.
yep. I was heavily abused by my mom for 11 years and throughout that time I called cps for help. they’d come for one visit and never come again, or suggest some “””supports”””, aka bullshit.
I know that way too well. I reported to a counsellor at my school that my father was constantly physically abusing my brother and always emotionally/mentally abusing me and my mother. CPS came for a visit, talked to my parents and then I never heard from them again. It’s been two years. I love my mom but she grew up in the 60s-70s so she thinks it’s normal to be called a useless piece of shit by your husband and throwing your son down a staircase. Sometimes I pray my dad gets in an accident just so we don’t have to deal with him anymore, even if we would be financially unstable.
this makes me so horribly sad yet so grateful. I have a completely awesome home life, loving parents, 2 older sisters, completely normal. It takes things like this to remind me how incredibly lucky I am.
2:40 This whole story reminds me: Among bears, fathers have a bad habit of trying to eat their own cubs just because they get hungry. As a result, mothers are some of the most protective mother animals in existence. It's said the most dangerous place to be, is directly between the mother and cub
it’s not always the father who are the ones who beat the kid, in a lot of cases it’s the mother. its happened to me and even had cps involved. I still stay in contact with my father
The one where the student was beaten by his father for being gay... it had me sobbing. How could someone do that to another person? Especially their own child?
@Purple Citrine I’m so happy he found a nice family. My mind can not comprehend how a MOTHER would try to murder their own, innocent child! What has an infant done, that you would want to take their life?
••SpottedLeaf•• What made me sobbing was the Story where these things happen Mom and dad get high Dad beats mom Dad rapes daughter Dad Punches daughters stomach until babies die That’s just fucking heartless HEARTLESS
“What has an infant done, that you would want to take their life?” Be unplanned. Babies aren’t always planned, and even if they are, sometimes parents get sick of them. My mom’s always complaining about us doing nothing at home, that we should be already moving out, etc. The reason why? _We’re underage_
Nova Typhoon bruh. It’s not always the dad and the dad does not always rapes the daughter. The sons get raped too. My cousin had a mom who got high and drunk and she would beat him really hard. But people ignore it cause she’s a women and it’s “discipline”
CPS to Mom who beats up all her children for fun: Nah, you're cool, btw this is the report your child handed in CPS to Mom who let her child do a 1 mile walk to school: Only a monster would commit such crimes!
I have a friend, he's 16. We met on discord and we're in a chat with several other people ranging from 15-23. My friend's mom constantly mentally abused him. Tells him he's useless, worthless, threatens to put his guinea pig down (he love that guinea pig like you don't even know). His dad is a deadbeat who still lives there, no job, just sleeps all day and is up all night playing Madden and other stupid games on the computer. His mom is disabled in some way, I'm not sure but I think she might be schizophrenic or something. But she says all these terrible things about him and expects him to practically be a mind reader, but the moment he says anything (even in agreement), he's wrong. Anything he says or does is wrong. And I feel so bad for him. I don't think it's ever scaled to physical abuse and I hope to God it hasn't. He only lives a few hours away from me and I'm always telling him if I need to go get him I can and I told him when he's 18 if it's that bad I will go get him so he can stay with me. I love all my friends in that group, but I am very protective over everyone (they consider me the mom friend) and if I could I'd gather everyone up to take care of them. I guess he'd even told his mom about me and she agreed that if he wanted to see me that badly she'd drive down and meet up with me. Y'all don't know how bad I'd love to meet this kid, and get him away from his terrible home environment.
I have a friend who whenever his dad comes home from work he is usually in a shitty mood and tends to take it out on him. My friend is autistic for Context and he told me that his dad threatens to give him and his brother the belt. I have never wanted to almost call CPS on someone before
“Not as important as other stories” excuse me? Child labor is terrible and all though it doesn’t seem as serious as other stories it still is very important.
It's not excactly that bad tho, there are children who have to scrub floor day and night, that's child labour. The kid in the story is simply helping out with his parents job, that's not child labour, I always have to clean the house till late in the night, it's honestly no big deal smh
@@nagitoez2532 Hard work at a young age is okay for the most part. It's the fact that this kid wasn't getting a proper education due to that responsibility that makes it wrong.
Its not actually illegal though in most states. It was actually super common when I was in school for farmers kids not to come for the first month. To the point we didn't do a lot the first month so they wouldn't be too far behind.
I’m in student council at my school. My counselor took me to see a 5 year old knowing I’m really good with kids. The kid had a black eye, his elbow looked like he got shot, and couldn’t talk. But soon enough he explained how his mom beat him up after he tried to protect his 2 year old brother from his mom beating him up because he spilt a single drop of water on his shirt. The police were called and the mother was arrested,. Turns out his mom basically kidnapped him by taking him from his dad. The moms going through 20 years in prison. She started in September
My husband is a cop, he got into an altercation and came home with the beginnings of a black eye. The kids ask them what's wrong with his eye . He decided to tell the kids that I pop him in the eye because he didn't clean his room . He said it jokingly, but our youngest he was in kindergarten . He told his teacher that Mommy gave daddy a black eye. His teacher called CPS and they came and interviewed all my children at their schools. Thank God the older kids explained everything. My oldest just died laughing when he was asked if his mother hits his father. We learned not to joke too heavily with the younger ones. Edit best part was when I had to leave the room so she could ask him if he was afraid of me 😂 I'm 5ft he's 6'3 I'd have to stand on a step stool for me to even reach his eye.

I'm in that weird phase of life where I'm mature enough to act more adult-like than my teachers but I sleep with a toy otter. In my area, this kind of stuff is so common it's really sad. Everyone I know has been neglected, emotionally and physically abused, suicidal, uses self-harm as a coping mechanism, is severely depressed, and has probably been traumatized. no one does anything about it, even when kids left and right are confessing to being so afraid of their parents. One of my best friends in 6th grade had gone to drug deals with her father and hinted at being sexually abused by his friends. She was malnourished and only ate ketchup, and she was the sweetest little cinnamon roll you'd ever meet. When I hear stories like this, I want to hug every last one of those poor children and give them a good, hot meal and a bath. Seriously, I stole from the fridge to give one of my starving friends some food. Nothing has been done, for any of them. My sister's friend was abused by her boyfriend, who threatened suicide and almost sold nude pictures of her. Y'know what happened? Nothing. my sister refuses to call the police because she's scared of what would happen to her friend. I get traumatized just thinking of some of the worse things that I've witnessed, and I'm still only a kid. It's horrible, and none of them deserve it.
in high school, i was sent to the counselor because of self harm and i broke down and told her everything i had been through in my home life. she was in tears at the end. Instead of calling cps, she banned me from her office and i was only allowed to see the counselor that would straight up tell you he didn't care about your life, just that you were trying to go to college. i wish people had better training on mandated reporting.
"It makes my stomach curdle how cps could do nothing just one house visit and gone." I'm not even gonna say anything about that but sometimes they just don't care only few people in cps actually care.

I get so mad reading the one where CPS did nothing and gave the parents the report because I went through the same thing, except I had applied to graduate high school early because my parents were not supportive of my identity and it was getting scary. Nothing on my essay indicated actual abuse and they denied my application to graduate early but CPS showed up a month later, did not care that my parents were in the room when they talked to me, and gave them the letter I was promised they would never see. I was failed by my high school and CPS. My only regret was not going to the people in my high school and asking why. I was too scared and there was a lot of obvious corruption. A suicide attempt and years of being a nonfunctional person later, I'm still suffering because of this stuff.
Obligatory “not a teacher but” story, but my grandmother used to work in a daycare with plenty of very small children, including several infants and toddlers. The daycare had a policy that if a child was asleep when dropped off, the parent had to wake the child and show they were healthy before they would take custody of the child. When my grandmother asked about it, the owner of the daycare explained it was because they had encountered parents who would severely beat a child, sometimes even breaking bones, and then drug them with enough cough syrup to knock them out. Then they would drop the kid off at the daycare and try to cover their asses when they came back and ‘discovered’ their child severely injured by the ‘monsters’ at the daycare. Thankfully my grandmother never actually had that worst case scenario happen on them but several of the other day care workers said they had a few times where a parent refused to do just that, and walk off in a huff. Needless to say they called the cops on each and every one of them.
A) if you’re 16 and can’t wash yourself that’s a major red flag- unless you are physically incapable of doing so yourself. B) At certain age seeing your child naked is wrong, much less you washing their genitals (this is sexual abuse and it is extremely wrong) C) This shows the mom is either doesn’t want her child to grow up or is manipulative and crazy D) Image how much brainwashing/damage the mother must have caused her child.
@@thecowilsoninc4175That is very true. However, once roaches are discovered, clean people deal with them immediately. Even my cat would kill them on sight.
@Charles Szasz People should have to raise a dog and/or cat to a certain age whilst consistantly keeping them above a certain level of health and well being before they should be trusted with the life of another human.
I've thought about that too, but I think things would get messy pretty quick. A whole legal structure would have to arise to address enforcement and monitoring. Politicians and courts would have to figure out how to punish people for having unprotected sex without intent and verified competency to raise a child. This would be a particular challenge with teenagers. Questions would arise such as, can a cop arrest someone in the act of having unprotected sex? What measures do you take to verify whether or not fertile people have unprotected sex? Rape kits? Drug tests? Do you start verifying peoples' fertility? Do you start sterilizing repeat offenders? What are the long-term consequences of all this? How do you protect civil liberties while implementing this? Individuals would be hiding unlawful kids from the system to avoid punishment and putting unlawfully birthed children up for adoption at greater rates, taxing the foster care complex. A black market could potentially form as individuals rejected from child rearing seek illegal means of acquiring children. Forced abortions could be be enacted, but that'd lead to a lot of people being traumatized from having to abort their illegal fetuses. The system to verify child rearing competency would be an inevitable cluster fuck. Privileged individuals would inevitably be favored over non-previleged, leading to issues of discrimination. Corruption, to some extent, would arise, as people figured out ways to grease the gears to getting their child rearing licence. The whole licensing apparatus would cost a ton of tax payer money and require many intricate layers of bureaucracy. Trying to privatize the affair in any way would be an unmitigated disaster. The results of making child rearing a regulated industry would not be pretty on neither a legal, ethical, cultural nor systemic level. But I understand where the sentiment for such a system comes from.
Where I came from, CPS always gave the parents a 2nd chance, even when my friend was stabbed by her mother. We would never say anything after the 1st time, because the beating we got after the visit was so bad, why would we ever say anything again.
A few months after I was born, my bio dad left. (I still contact him today he’s pretty nice) but my mom married another man. (My step father who I HATE) John Eric Talkington. Anyway, he abused us a bit. He would step on my fingers a lot and I know at least some of the time it was on purpose. He also burned me and my siblings hands with hot water. He would serve us food and if we weren’t hungry enough to finish it he’d hit us with the belt. Twice he hit me with the metal end. Once he even threatened me and one of my sisters with a pan. My mom was working to become a lawyer so she was hardly home. Whenever she would come home I’d be running to her with very red thighs from being spanked. Almost every night my parents would fight and us kids couldn’t sleep.some nights me and my brother would sit on the stairs and listen. I didn’t like to sleep alone so often times I’d sleep in their room. I was too scared to be near my step father though. I’d sleep/hide behind chairs the most of the time. A lot of times I’d cry myself to sleep because of the constant fighting. I never knew it was bad though, I thought this was how all dads were. He kicked our dog for no reason and she’s traumatized of tall people now. We went to 2 counselors and they helped plan a divorce.one of my favorite teachers was a school counselor. I trusted her. She ended up telling my dad to get a divorce and calling my mother a horrible and abusive mother in court. She locked us in our rooms for a reasonable amount of time. (As punishment) we ended up getting kicked out of our house (by my dad) and had to move. (Me, my mom, my oldest sister, and my brother.) School was starting soon and we needed to get our stuff from the house. It was pouring rain and my father locked us out. I called the police so he would let us in. He said I was stupid for calling the police for that reason. On my eighth birthday my sister, (second oldest was stuck with him so was my sister closest in age.) was talking to me. He told her to come home and she refused. He called the police and she had to go home. Later he moved to Nevada and me and my mom took my 2 sisters to the airport. (Due to some of my fathers lying in court she had lost the fight for custody) they left and me and my mom bawled the way home. I still miss my sisters. The court had prevented all of us but my oldest sister from contacting each other. Later we saw another counselor and she decided we shouldn’t see my sisters. Still mad about that. My father made me feel worthless. After we had to move I also had to move schools which was awful. I got called kitty, pet, and was meowed at, petted, and stuff like that all of my third grade year. In fourth grade some of my “friends” had said that nobody should be my friend and that I should kill myself. They thought I couldn’t hear them. I almost listened to them. I’m doing better now but still a bit traumatized. Never called the cops except to get in. Never called CPS. He still did much more but I wanna leave that there. If you ever meet John Eric Talkington he lives in Nevada, and he’s an engineer. If you meet him.... tell him his daughter hasn’t forgot.
Hey, so do your sisters still live with Eric? You should call support services, or talk to a teacher that you trust enough. Talk to someone please, this can't keep this way.
That moment when you realize calling CPS will just add more stress on the child, and they're more than likely to be abused and mistreated in foster homes anyways.
I think my recommendations for any kids in these situations, document everything, write in a diary/journal, try to get footage, much easier these days with soo much technology around but might not be available to some. Unfortunately in some cases its best to leave the situation and run away if you dont think they will believe you. Some children have to resort to suicide before these things are even discovered. Some people should never ever be parents and completely advocate that these parents have their privates mutilated that when they use the bathroom it is unbearable and i would be ok with a lobotomy. They wouldnt have any base human rights under any convention.
7:18 CPS did a similar thing to me and my siblings. Most people that I know my age that went through got abandoned by CPS as well. I hate them. They just leave kids in abusive situations. One of my coworkers best friend killed him self because it took CPS over a year to even talk to him. They are a very screwed up organization and need to be replaced. Screw all of them.
CPS.. Or “DCS” in my area Is so flawed It hurts Why? You have stories like the ones in 7:27 Where children were in need of DESPERATE HELP and weren’t given any And then you have mine (Lmao tragic backstory time) When I was a kid my brother used to sexually harass me. I never told my mom because I was scared to get scolded because I believed it was my fault. It went on for years because I was scared of saying anything but eventually I did fess up when my mom found a vibrator in my room when I was 11. Simply happened because she asked me where I got it. And I said my brother. We were handling it well on our own Our mother talked to my bro about it and he confessed He apologized to me We weren’t aloud to be alone together anymore Both went to counseling .. But then a counselor called DCS And within weeks they took my brother and I away from my loving mother who didn’t do anything wrong, We were in foster care for a year.. Or group homes He didn’t mind his home but- My home was terrible. We were restricted to the point where we weren’t living anymore Literally just surviving Everything I did was “sexual” Couldn’t wear skirts or dresses (not that I wanted to anyways) Worst thing was that I’m Pansexual And I once kissed a girl And well- My home was mostly Catholic so- I had no friends Nobody to hug Nobody to cry with I could only talk to my mom once a week and only for 10 minutes WITH SUPERVISION She couldn’t even know the suffering I endured and even now, two years after all of this I still have troubles telling her without breaking down. I now have severe anxiety and depression All because of DCS If you get anything out of this entire video or comment it’s this: CPS, or DCS They ruin children’s lives By interfering when they shouldn’t Or not getting involved at all Don’t trust them They won’t help you They’re in it for the PROFIT. Thank you for listening to my TEDTalk.
you never HAD. HAD. You do now. you HAD. Edit for clarification: Im talking about they never HAD any friends, so bc they used the word "had" they do now.
Sounds kind of like what I went through. My mom got with an abusive guy and they decided being alcoholics and beating my brother and I were fun. Brother had been taken away by CPS (DCF in my area but was called SRS back when I was in care) as a young child from a baby sitter who my parents hadnt fully vetted. They got him back but not before he, at 2 yrs old, was molested by a 4 yr old girl who the foster home KNEW had been molested! So he got home and would molest ME (I lived with my maternal great grandparents from 4 months to 2 yrs. Brother is ~15 months older) I guess I told my grandma who told grandpa but also told him not to say anything about it (he told mom this when I was /7/ after grandma passed.) So for nearly 7 years or so I was being molested when he could have had HELP (Thanks a lot for failing me gram.) That was when the physical abuse got worse. Any show of affection/niceness to me from my brother or to my brother from me was seen as "sexual" and we got beat for it. I remember our ex step loser actually kicking us because we hollared "good night" to each other from our beds in our own bedrooms! Anyway DCF (SRS at that point) stepped in the morning mom and ex step loser had a huge blow out fight. We went to school after having obviously cried and we never went back home. Then the state decide bro would go to my dad (the GOOD parent) and I'd go back to mom after they both did a series of classes. Dad did his. Bro only spent 6 months in care. Mom didnt do SHIT and I was forced to spend 8 years bouncing through 27 different placements. That racked me up to 10 different schools (not counting the ones from moving with my mom before going into care.) This includes 4 highschools in my first 2 years of highschool before going to my dad. (Bro turned 18 and moved out.) I had a couple of "good" foster parents in the beginning but after that they were just all using me for the paycheck they got and the free maid service I could provide. As of now I'm 31, have severe social anxiety and one of the worst cases of ptsd you can have outside a warzone and living off under $900 a month of Scocial security (about half is Disability with the other half being supplementary security income because even the feds know that disability payout is shit.) CPS really fucked me over.
it makes me happy to see how many of these stories had a happy ending involving cps but man cps does not give 2 shits about foster families and their foster child. my parents were foster parent for a handful of years and there were so many situations where we wanted to intervene but couldn't because we weren't legally allowed to. My parents would often end up spending about 10 fold of what CPS actually gave them to take care of the foster. I remember once a foster child's dad spent the night at my house because of bonding or something (i honestly do think it helped in the end), but jesus christ i was so scared because the father was known to be abusive and a drug addict. Another kid had mental illnesses but we couldn't take them to a councilor because of legal reasons with the parents. The kid had around 5 siblings and they were all separated eventually. I really hope there's better CPS in other states because i feel like there is very little funding given to the one in mine
Here in Canada (or at least Ontario) it is slightly better but not entirely. My cousin, also a mother who works for CPS helps take care of kids with mental disabilities (ADD, Autism, PTSD etc.) and she tries to help them lead a happy life. Although sadly sometimes the kids go back to their abusive parents or end up moving to a different area where the workers are not as loving or nice as she is. Sometimes CPS doesn’t help but makes it worse.
Your parents are good people by the way for becoming foster parents. I’m sure they helped those kids in many ways, even if they weren’t there for long (:
When I was a little child and went to school with bruises all over me, the teachers just were told to look the other way, one teacher felt I needed to be punished because I wasn't smart enough, so he sent a letter home, my dad beat me until he was exhausted. At the time I didn't know but my dad had damaged a nerve in my hip, I still to this day limp, The reason I wasn't doing well in school was I was being abused at home and I was having a had time concentrating. The sad thing is when a child is a punching bag for their parents it seems to encourage every bully to hit and harm them also. I am so glad that they have CDS and I hope the children are in a much safer place once taken from their hateful parents.
The teacher who said a five year old begged her to adopt him so he could have a mommy who loved him, really killed me inside. I couldn't help getting misty eyed. He was that deprived of love that a stranger saying she liked his drawing was enough for him to latch on. I can't even imagine what torment that poor child went through.
My mother's told me this story a few times: She's the youngest of four sisters. The oldest, we'll call her Hannah, is ~20 years older than my mom. The second oldest, we'll call her Rachel, is ~12 years older than my mom. When my mom was a child, she'd spend her summers at Hannah's house. Their dad wasn't around and Grandma was rather ...negligent as a parent. Rachel took after grandma in the area of alcohol consumption, smoking, and sleeping around. She had a different guy over every week, which wouldn't exactly be a huge problem, except she'd choose to spend her money on "date nights," alcohol, and cigarettes instead of taking care of her infant son. She'd leave her son with Hannah quite frequently, usually with filthy diapers, terrible diaper rash, and moldy sippy cups of spoiled milk. Hannah had called CPS before, but they never did anything. So finally, one day when my mom's about 10 years old, Hannah tells her to get in the car and buckles up Rachel's son to take him to CPS offices to show them what kind of state he's been left in. Rachel shows up to Hannah's house to pick up her son, only to find everyone gone. (Hannah had told Rachel multiple times that she was going to get CPS involved.) So what does Rachel do? She calls the police and tells them Hannah _ripped_ her son from her arms and kidnapped him, _and_ that Hannah was armed (which she wasn't. I mean, she owned a gun, but it was still in her house). So of course, the police are looking for Hannah's car. My mom - again, she's like 10 at the time - was in tears and nearly soiled herself when they were pulled over and surrounded by police with guns drawn screaming at Hannah to get on the ground. They never charged Hannah with anything. They never charged Rachel with anything, either. And CPS was involved, and actually had custody of Rachel's son for a few days and ultimately decided that _apparently_ she was a decent mother and gave him back to her. Rachel's son is in his 30's now, and he has no contact with her, as that neglect continued through the rest of his childhood and CPS failed to do _anything_ about it.
@@erikseavey9445 my sister is a child protection specialist and because of our upbringing, she's more understanding than many of her coworkers. She is much more willing to work with the parents (depending on the situation) instead of removing the kids outright. Whereas many of the people she works with might remove the kids as a first instinct (which can also be good, depending on the circumstances).
I legit only just realised what happened when I was a child. When I was in year 5 ( 9 years old ) I started acting differently, I was starting to refuse to speak to people I stopped talking to my friends and I just cut myself off of all forms of closeness to anyone, I remember I did this because every time I spoke at home I would either get ignored or yelled at and my friends started bullying me so one day I just stopped talking to make sure I would never get yelled at or bullied ever again, my teacher noticed my change in behaviour and she tried to talk to me but I refused but she noticed I read a lot of books and decided this is how she was going to gain my trust, first she just started small conversations about the books and then I started talking to her more and then one day she asked me why I stopped talking and when I told her what happened she had a meeting with my mum and referred me to a child psychologist, I remember after that meeting my mum was super angry and she was swearing about how the teacher was rude and I was terrified that I did something wrong and she grounded me for telling the teacher that she was a bad parent, and when my mum grounded me she stopped talking to me and pretended I didn’t exist and because I had no friends she decided that instead of not letting me see my friends I would be locked in my room for hours with no books. After that happened I stopped speaking to my teacher again and then refused to talk to the psychologist. At the time I had such hatred for this teacher because she made my mum mad but I just realised that she was trying to help , I really want to find this teacher and just thank her, she is the only one that has ever tried to help and my mum still refuses to let me see a psychologist because in her mind it will be proof that she is a bad parent. I suspect I have ptsd but I can’t get it diagnosed and in Australia I can’t see a psychologist without a parent knowing about it until I’m 18. I suspect she didn’t call CPS because I ate well, I was always wearing the best shoes and new uniforms and I was never physically hurt but she saw straight through my mum and tried to help. I am so grateful for her.
Hello, a fellow Aussie here. Yeah that's some emotional abuse right there. Even if you can't get it diagnosed yet, there are lots of councilling services like headspace who could point you in the right direction. You could also see your GP and discuss your situation. I hope you can get help!
Dear OP the way your mother is treating you is NOT ok and it is not your fault. Pls call kids help line if you need someone to talk to or go to a library and look them up online to find resources. kidshelpline.com.au 1800 55 1800 Know that it is not your fault and unfortunately it appears your mother does not have the right parenting skills to fulfil the needs you are entitled to and deserve. These posts just remind me of how blessed and incredibly, incredibly lucky I can consider myself for having parents that loved and supported me. Sure, not with everything and all the time, but looking back on it all I definitely was a happy kid and I like remembering my childhood and teen years these days. Bless all of the kids from these stories. I really hope their life got better.
The story from cps and 14 was a huge eye opener. Almost immediately people assume parents are evil but sometimes they just need help themselves but abuse is still wrong
I love this .. I used to beg my teachers to call someone, my stepmother was so cruel to me and her own children :( I remember crying because they would just call her and address it but never the cops and that made everything worse for us . One day I called the cops myself and told the cops, all the reports I'd given were documented at the school and both my dad and stepmother were arrested (( both on heavy drugs and fighting at the time of arrest ))and their children (my step siblings) were put into foster care but thankfully it ended up being with a church couple who treated them very well! I wish I'd had an adult at that time who cared like these people do ! (: it warms my heart to see that people do look for the signs of abuse and report them. Please never stop !!!!!
Child: Gets beaten and begs to be put in Foster Care. CPS: Hmm... Take this candy. Bye! Child: Goes to school smelling like body odor ONCE. CPS: HOLY MOTHER OF CRAP WE'RE GONNA SAVE YOU!

This makes me feel blessed for having such incredible parents. I feel so horrible for these kids and hope they got mental help and are feeling better ❤
Isn't it always the case though like really read into the situation like REALLY read into it. They were beaten almost daily one of the sisters almost died cuz her head was shoved into a bath tub, one of them files a CPS report but they took a long time to respond and even gave the abusive parent a copy of the report. Sad to say who ever was running the show back then was either a "Family friend" or just a really sadistic ass bag
One of my friends was suicidal (I didn't know at the time) His parents would beat him, ect. He tried to kill himself. He told me to meet him at his house. When I got there he was in his shower, crying. He told me he fell while trying to commit suicide. Later he told me he wasn't crying because he fell, he was crying because he didn't die...
My uncle called CPS on my parents because we weren't going to school and he knew why we couldn't go yet he still did it, we (my siblings and I) were so scared because we love our parents and we had to the interview the next week, then a few weeks later they come to the school we started going to and interview us again, fortunately we are still with our parents :)
This shows that CPS is shit. They conduct multiple appointments for people who weren’t going to school but only go to people who are actually abused ONCE. AND DON’T DO ANYTHING!!
I’ve told my parents multiple times that I don’t feel safe, and I’ve been traumatized. I love my parents, but I hope someone gets called just so they know how much they’ve impacted me.
My parents aren’t abusive but yeah as soon I don’t need them, I will require scissors. I remember some terrible shit they’ve done. My dad hanging my favorite stuffed animal over the guardrail of stairs when I was ten because k kept throwing stuffed animals at him. The time I tried playing Defender PS2 with my dad and had the worst time ever, only to forced to finish because I “had to learn how to lose.” What the fuck does that mean!? One time I thought I had broken my Xbox (this was only a couple weeks ago) and my mom scolding saying that if I didn’t control my anger I would one day end up killing someone because in her mind, that’s how murderers work. Now now, say what you will, say what you will, but I SHOULD’VE at least beat her to the ground right there and then. That Xbox is my life and my nearly sole source of joy right now (thank god it’s not broken). Then there’s the time me and my mom and dad were all having an argument that I forgot the purpose of, because I sorely remember him walking up quickly to me like he was gonna punch me. Hid from him for a whole week after. Then he got really toxic after I forgot his birthday. How fucking childish do you have to be to have beef with your 13 yea told son over that!? He got mad at me, and later said HE’D forgive ME if I apologized for forgetting his birthday. Slowly closed the door while giving him the evil eye. My mom yelled at me when I was ten, because I’ve been home schooled for nearly my entire life, and at around 9 or ten I decided tests were a waste of my time and energy and just speedrun them any percent. For high school I didn’t want to take an elective (they all were disinteresting) but my mom insisted I had to, so I took psychology. My grades tanked for multiple reasons, and I once complained I couldn’t get enough work done because of psychology. She said something along the lines of “but didn’t you want to take psychology?” My literal only thought was “are you fackin stchewpid!?” Later the same year I hadn’t even completed half of my high school work by summer, so instead of addressing the issue my mom made me work 4 times as hard over the course of this summer. This has achieved nothing for me or what I now suspect to be a case of undiagnosed ADHD or something. … Okay maybe my parents are abusive. I literally unironically googled “reasons to live” once
@@wieldylattice3015 Doesn't seem like your parents are abusive, Not the best parents sure they could work on their Empathy but Considering everything and how bratty you sound while writing this comment and how horribly you degrade your parents because of minor inconveniences, It sounds like you're just a bratty kid who thinks any amount of parenting is bad and basic education isnt nessecary

My mother yells at me a lot. And when she gets angry enough she will start hitting us over and over. She says she yells at our dad hitting us when we do something bad. But she will hit us over and over while we are screaming in pain laying in the fetal position. Begging her to stop. I have learned not to talk to her when she is angry at any of us. I will hide in my room until it's over. It doesn't happen frequently but when it does it is freaking terrifying. She also yells at me a lot over small things. Such as me eating a little but more food because I haven't eaten all day. Or not doing the dishes as soon as they appear in the sink

If anyone's wondering, yes CPS really does send a full report to your parents if you call them. And yes it gets more children beaten and/or killed than anyone wants to admit. CPS does nothing helpful 99% of the time
Edit: this is the most liked comment so i felt i should clarify a couple things.
Now he wants to live with his aunt but the dad is refusing to give up custody so he won't lose any unemployment benifits"
Also it's true the foster care system is full of children CPS has helped by removing them from their homes.
I had a friend who's sibling is in foster care and his careless, druggy parents have gotten him removed from an amazing foster mother. legend
"why would CPS do nothing?" or "why would CPS do that?" the reason is that the case workers have 20x the case load they should have and the managers are usually against them and they are heart-breakingly underfunded

the one where cps didn’t do anything infuriates me. like are you serious?
sometimes they dont....
And when I gave up and just accepted life my dad (the abuser) asked me why I wasn’t still trying during a fight, when I said how strangling myself didn’t work he said “there are other ways”
The police said to “get a therapist” and “we’re not the people to tell” these all take place over multiple years and more have happened with half of them being lost to time with the youngest memory being at four
I KNOW RIGHT?!?!! THEY HAD SO MUCH TO GET THE PARENTS IN JAIL!!!
9:10 Definitely an accurate portrayal of how a lot of CPS cases _actually_ go: CPS comes for a house visit with the parent sitting right next to the kid, sends a very detailed copy of the report to the parent, and radio silence from then on.
MrHatoi That’s not right.

I love all my friends in that group, but I am very protective over everyone (they consider me the mom friend) and if I could I'd gather everyone up to take care of them.

@Charles Szasz People should have to raise a dog and/or cat to a certain age whilst consistantly keeping them above a certain level of health and well being before they should be trusted with the life of another human.
Thats called Eugenics and we frown upon that heavily
Mike Vasquez You belong in China with that horrifically authoritarian attitude.

I hope you get help and support wherever you are.
Hey, so do your sisters still live with Eric? You should call support services, or talk to a teacher that you trust enough. Talk to someone please, this can't keep this way.
I swear area 51 is in Nevada so he's probably an alien
In his 50s?
Monica Rains yep
Yeah while I (hope) their a least ONE person who actually does their job they need to change how CPS works honestly
CPS.. Or “DCS” in my area
Is so flawed
It hurts
Why?
You have stories like the ones in 7:27
Where children were in need of DESPERATE HELP and weren’t given any
And then you have mine (Lmao tragic backstory time)
When I was a kid my brother used to sexually harass me. I never told my mom because I was scared to get scolded because I believed it was my fault. It went on for years because I was scared of saying anything but eventually I did fess up when my mom found a vibrator in my room when I was 11.
Simply happened because she asked me where I got it.
And I said my brother.
We were handling it well on our own
Our mother talked to my bro about it and he confessed
He apologized to me
We weren’t aloud to be alone together anymore
Both went to counseling
.. But then a counselor called DCS
And within weeks they took my brother and I away from my loving mother who didn’t do anything wrong,
We were in foster care for a year.. Or group homes
He didn’t mind his home but-
My home was terrible.
We were restricted to the point where we weren’t living anymore
Literally just surviving
Everything I did was “sexual”
Couldn’t wear skirts or dresses (not that I wanted to anyways)
Worst thing was that I’m Pansexual
And I once kissed a girl
And well-
My home was mostly Catholic so-
I had no friends
Nobody to hug
Nobody to cry with
I could only talk to my mom once a week and only for 10 minutes WITH SUPERVISION
She couldn’t even know the suffering I endured and even now, two years after all of this I still have troubles telling her without breaking down.
I now have severe anxiety and depression
All because of DCS
If you get anything out of this entire video or comment it’s this:
CPS, or DCS
They ruin children’s lives
By interfering when they shouldn’t
Or not getting involved at all
Don’t trust them
They won’t help you
They’re in it for the PROFIT.
Thank you for listening to my TEDTalk.
This is 100% true, I've seen both sides of it in my life and I definitely agree with you
This is actually so sad
you never HAD. HAD. You do now. you HAD.
Edit for clarification: Im talking about they never HAD any friends, so bc they used the word "had" they do now.
Oh my God, I'm so sorry, hope you're much better now.
9:18 I feel like if a teacher has had her own children taken from her by CPS, that's probably a sign that she shouldn't be a teacher.
good on that mom! it's so refreshing to see a parent stand up to their spouse for their children
3:02 best mum ever. this is the most satisfying thing ive seen all day.
it makes me happy to see how many of these stories had a happy ending involving cps but man cps does not give 2 shits about foster families and their foster child. my parents were foster parent for a handful of years and there were so many situations where we wanted to intervene but couldn't because we weren't legally allowed to.
Sadly, it's not much better in the US :-( it's really screwed up how children are treated in the world and then wonder why they become bad adults.
I’m sure they helped those kids in many ways, even if they weren’t there for long (:
reading stuff like this really makes me think of how lucky I was as a child to have good parents
My mother's told me this story a few times:
She's the youngest of four sisters.
Seems like they're more likely to tear kids from good parents than the bad ones.
Yeah I thought CPS was only bullsh** in my situation but apparently not.
I have no friends and I don’t get grounded. My mom just doesn’t believe me. Idk y tho.
Dear OP the way your mother is treating you is NOT ok and it is not your fault. Pls call kids help line if you need someone to talk to or go to a library and look them up online to find resources.

Know that it is not your fault and unfortunately it appears your mother does not have the right parenting skills to fulfil the needs you are entitled to and deserve. Hang in there as it will get better and there are many good people out there. If it gets too much for you to cope with then speak to someone at your school.
"One family literally lived in a cave" I'm sorry, wtf? "...this is in rural Appalachia" now it makes sense

Anyone else think the CPS-letdown in the middle of the video had a stink of someone in an influential position to it?
Isn't it always the case though like really read into the situation like REALLY read into it. They were beaten almost daily one of the sisters almost died cuz her head was shoved into a bath tub, one of them files a CPS report but they took a long time to respond and even gave the abusive parent a copy of the report. Sad to say who ever was running the show back then was either a "Family friend" or just a really sadistic ass bag
Ashy Washy I would’ve called CPS after the mom was beating the girls one by one while the story teller heard the screaming and stop sweeping
OH NO. Poor man/women/person , i wish they are better now, send them a hug :(
My uncle called CPS on my parents because we weren't going to school and he knew why we couldn't go yet he still did it, we (my siblings and I) were so scared because we love our parents and we had to the interview the next week, then a few weeks later they come to the school we started going to and interview us again, fortunately we are still with our parents :)
This shows that CPS is shit. They conduct multiple appointments for people who weren’t going to school but only go to people who are actually abused ONCE. AND DON’T DO ANYTHING!!
My siblings and I are homeschooled, and one of my mom's greatest fears is that cps will be able to take us away because of that
I’ve told my parents multiple times that I don’t feel safe, and I’ve been traumatized.
…
Okay maybe my parents are abusive. I literally unironically googled “reasons to live” once
Did I mention the time my mom got toxic during croque? Another time when I ad to “learn how to lose”? Have never played croque since
