- The unbelievable true story.
Tickets for #YoungWomanAndTheSea are now available: www.fandango.c...
Daisy Ridley stars as the accomplished swimmer who was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1905. Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers, she overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the staggering achievement - a 21-mile trek from France to England. “Young Woman and the Sea,” which also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia, Christopher Eccleston, Jeanette Hain, Sian Clifford, and Glenn Fleshler, is directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Jeff Nathanson, based on the book “Young Woman and the Sea: How Trudy Ederle Conquered the English Channel and Inspired the World” by Glenn Stout. The producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and Jeff Nathanson, with John G. Scotti, Daisy Ridley, and Joachim Rønning serving as executive producers.
Finally, a live-action Disney movie that is not a remake.
No, it is just riding the coattails of Netflix's Oscar nominated Nyad. 100% Original 😮💨
@@SarahBoones13thLawyerYou know that this one is also based on a true story, right?
This upcoming movie may save disney. Not entierly. But, I can imagine this movie being a hit.
@@vincenthoule5643 it is just a limited release, disney needs to have more faith in original projecta, disney being disney, though it was originally a streaming disney+ project
And yet they just couldn’t help themselves from stealing the “old man and the sea” title and turning it post-woke early century modern
Just glad they didn’t cast a guy in the lead.
😂
Might be Daisy's best film since the sequel trilogy ended
While the film seems reminiscent to those inspirational sports dramas Disney used to make back in the 90s and 2000s like Remember the Titans, Miracle, and Iron Will; But in a way, I couldn’t help but think about how this movie reminds of Amblimation’s Balto where it’s an underdog story (no pun intended) about triumph over adversity and against incredible odds through inner strength for loved ones.
This movie and story were incredible! I hadn't heard of Trudy's story before, but the amount of adversities she faced to accomplish all that she did were astounding. I highly recommend everyone see this film.
Couldn't agree more. As far as inspirational women, Trudy and Bethany Hamilton are miles above most for me
pathetic, disney doesn't know what is a woman.
Surprised it's an actual woman...
This actually looks pretty nice.
Release The Kraken!
No
Yes he is!
Her "coach" would have if he could have
Had to turn off the comments on the Mufasa trailer 😂😂👎👎
Lol yep. When will these people learn that removing people's ability to speak only makes them look bad. Not the people they're silencing.
Blame UA-cam Kids
It doesn’t have comments because of UA-cam kids
@@TheGamingManiacDS it is youtube kids because disney didn't want to have comments
Go away Disney.
When are tickets available in Canada?

Love watching your videos. I am from Newfoundland.
Just finished, and I really love it.
Daisy has a haircut
Looks good.
I can't wait for this! It looks really well done!
We need more movies like this. Looking forward to seeing this one--looks awesome.
It's absolutely precious how they try to inject feminism into films like this where they portray women as putting men in their place. Of course, a simple google search reveals that a man crossed the English Channel more than half a century before this woman did it so when you're only good when compared with other women, you prove the father in this film right.
Man or woman swimming the English the Channel is courageous and inspiring. It has nothing to do with feminism.
@@MrRjstruve It shouldn't have anything to do with feminism. But it does because THEY injected it into the film.
It's a bit more inspirational when you realize only 5 men had done it while many died attempting it, or failed numerous times, and Trudy broke the record by 2 hours
@@Dr.Acula76 She only broke the record because she had calmer seas and swam a shorter distance overall than the previous attempts. In any case, that's not even the point. The point is, Disney (and Hollywood in general) is completely incapable these days of telling any story of female achievement without denigrating men. The misandry is truly off the charts and it's sad so many people defend it.
@@Dr.Acula76 The only bigots here are people like you, Disney and most of Hollywood who constantly try to discredit men. Imagine if inspirational stories of men couldn't be told without denigrating women? You'd be throwing a fit and you know it. Stop pretending you have some kind of moral high ground when in reality you're defending blatant misandry that has infected the entire film industry and beyond.
Disney bots out in force in the comments, but the down vote ratio doesn't lie.
Are there sharks in this movie, because they would take it to new heights?
No there not sharks
@@henrymockingbird9645 There are jellyfish though, according to the trailer.
This is gonna be the greatest story ever . My neighbor Erin who’s an Olympian was invited to the Walt Disney studios .
Woke

Stupid comment
❤❤❤❤
The only really UNBELIEVABLE part of all this is that they released this as a DRAMA.... not as a 'Còmèdy' .... what an absolute Klunker
What exactly do you mean by this comment? Have you seen the film yet?
@@trevorriches136 its about the incredibly stirring inspirational tale of a Woman who swam the English channel ....the usual modern garbage ,... there was some jellyfish and some sexism but she made it across somehow ...
Stunning and also brave at the same time
@@Gianfranco_69 all that info was in the trailer. I’m asking if you’ve seen the movie yet? Because the movie actually does a good job of showing Trudy herself (Daisy Ridley) failing time and time again, and then learning from those mistakes to become an even better athlete. She actually plays a genuinely well-written character in this film. There were some moments of comedic relief, but the movie as a whole was not a comedy.
This is so good!!

In Kraken (2024)
This true story came after the Olympic Games in Paris a century ago in 1924. Trudy is one of my Olympic heroes who turned against and proved the patriarchal society wrong by swimming across 29 miles from Paris to English Channel. I'm fully supported by this.
21 but who's counting? More like 50 with the currents
That looks like Rey.
Is Daisy Riley that actress who played Rey in Star Wars.
@@DisneyPrincessGirl-j1l yes
''A woman of that time'', so cool to hear that. We have to get it in our heads that women now don't get this treatment anymore, like they did back here, so its refreshing to hear the lovely Daisy Ridley say that here, i respect her even more now. I just wish the brunt of woke actresses said they same, but no its usually 'we deserve equality', you have it, this isn't the 1920s now, its 2024. No doubt in some places on Earth, women are treated like crap still, but in the US, UK, brunt of Europe, South America, Australia, parts of Asia, you are treated the same as men.
In many ways yes. However there is plenty of data indicating that in the UK, in some areas of life, there is still some catching up to do.
@@Seajay1504 Right, so how do you feel about places in the Middle East, Saudi or Qatar then, the UK is nothing like them for women's rights.
@@olliesmith2890 I think the UK sets its own standard and aspires to achieve that. Why would we British have any regard for socially backward countries?
@@Seajay1504 I clearly meant, the UK is wonderful for women's rights, compared to those countries, bit obvious what i meant.
@@olliesmith2890 yes absolutely
WOKE
Honestly, it's a sports movie based on actual American historical events and featuring a straight, Caucasian athlete. Even by a troll's standards, it's the least woke a film can get. But people like to use that word so frequently, it loses meaning.
I agree
Not this time. Not woke. Just garbage. Yes it might have woke writing in it but woke or not nothing would save this soon to be turd burber.
I’m sorry daisy ridley but you are not rey you never were

@@henrymockingbird9645 woke
It even follows the HERoes journey 😂
If it's the Rey actress she won't need any training to do this. She'll just be naturally amazing at swimming.
Hahaha that very funny hilarious even then she’s not playing Rey doofus just because Daisy Ridley played Rey in Star Wars that doesn’t mean she’s gonna play Rey for the rest of her life
@@henrymockingbird9645😂 you completely missed the point he was making.
Is this another wokeness propagation or a real deal? I love swimming and want to see this movie, but I despise Disney's policies.
I just saw the film yesterday. It actually does a pretty good job of showing her fail and learn from her failures, instead of her just being perfect at everything on the first try. It’s a solid movie!
This is an excellent and inspiring movie. As a former high school and college competitive swimmer, and ocean race swimmer in Hawaii and Alcatraz, I really enjoyed this film and saw no wokeness in it at all. In fact, I felt it stood up for traditional women's rights. Appropriately coming out at a time when transgender men try to invade women's competitive swimming. I would like to see Disney come out with more films like this.
@@DrWesterdahl Thank you for the nice review!
@MrVeryfrost Like you, I also despise Disney, but my friend's daughter talked me in to watching it and I wasn't disappointed. Very inspirational story. Only other woman I find this inspiring is Bethany Hamilton (as a surfer I may be biased)
