Agreed 100%, even the simple things like changing into 4 different outfits, and rotating the wrestlers is still incredibly memorable & satisfying. Today, just digital still images.

As a kid, i was stuck on this screen for what seemed like an eternity, thinking the game was broken until my cousin came by and asked "You know you use the dpad, right?" and i never felt so foolish in my life. Fucking love this game tho!
What I loved about WCW games is they never took themselves seriously, and treated it like it is, a video game. They always added so many characters you've never seen before both fictional and real.
A true gaming audio masterpiece. When you game with this song, it only can increase gaming understanding and further the descent into a game and or gaming
This would be great training montage music. You have a world title shot at the Garden, your wife and kids are depending on you. You're waking up at sunrise, pounding raw eggs, running across town, pumping iron, sparring on the mat, beating the heavy bag, all while your retired mentor shouts encouragement at you.
I love the image of the fog around the ring. I wish theyd make a new game like this. Im sure it would be half the price of any of the new games that are forgotten in a year.
This takes me back! Literally the only wrestling game I have on the N64, missed out on No Mercy cause I mostly moved on to PlayStation and play the WWF Smackdown Series.
The fact that THQ is making an AEW game. I saw the demo, and it's the same game mechanics that was established since WCW/nWo World Tour & Revenge and WWE Wrestlemania 2000 & No Mercy.
I still remember watching my brother and cousin play this The match : Ric Flair vs Hollywood Hogan And this menu tune is forever etched in my brain. Anyway Happy 27th anniversary to WCW/NWO World Tour

Knowing how WCW often stole well known songs and revamped them for entrance themes and production music...I can't help but wonder if this or any of the other music used in this game was inspired by real songs by actual artists?
This AKI game definitely had the best soundtrack, imo. To me, the gameplay quality got better with each next release, but I think the music got shittier.
When choosing a wrestler was bad ass
For real though, especial when their animation changed right in time with the music
Agreed 100%, even the simple things like changing into 4 different outfits, and rotating the wrestlers is still incredibly memorable & satisfying. Today, just digital still images.
i would love if someone did a cover song of this with actual instruments
Absolutely. They made it so epic. Nowadays, you get some kids bop on these stupid games that barely work.
I always avoided picking wrestlers like ric flair because they were in their undies
I literally came back to listen to this because I love the part with the horns 😂😂😂
Even though I own this, I do as well.
Why ain't Horns the devils instrument instead? They're HORNS
Literally all of us!

Fucking love this game tho!
The music signals the dominance of WCW at the time in 97.
Nostalgia of sleep overs 🙏🏻

This song is etched in my memory
I kid you not, very few video game songs make me feel as warm and fuzzy as this one.
Ahhhhh I’m so hyped up those horns
While each AKI N64 release got better, this game holds a special place in my heart. This soundtrack is so good.
A true gaming audio masterpiece. When you game with this song, it only can increase gaming understanding and further the descent into a game and or gaming
The gong and those horns still get me to this day. Thank you 90's/2000's Nintendo for legendary, unforgettable main menu themes like this one.
Sounds like M Bison music
I still have this game hidden somewhere in my room , with wcwnwo revenge n wrestle mania 2000 n no mercy

Who was better, Sting or 'Sting'?
TriplomatX Sting was better although ‘Sting’ had on the NWO shirt when you changed his costume lol
My cousin and I, every few years will text each other: “Sting”. Just that, in quotes. And it’s always amazing. No one seems to remember that.
@wolfee27 STINK IS WRONK
Kanyon. Who betta then Kanyon?!
@@LookingForBucho lmao that was the height of the fake Sting's career...being included in this game lmao
This song is the definition of "GETTING HYPED"
Man I remember spending wait to much time on the character select screen in this game
dude this song actually sampled the big blue theme from f zero. like that one one noise in the background is the same melody, just slowed down
Memories!
Memories in the late 90's at my friend's house after school.
...(grabs a wooden table) Open wide, here comes the airplane!
we really had it good as kids. spent hours on this game. i had my own storylines in my head.
This takes me back! Literally the only wrestling game I have on the N64, missed out on No Mercy cause I mostly moved on to PlayStation and play the WWF Smackdown Series.

Finally got an N64 in 1998 as a 10th birthday present, and this was the first game that we got for it along with WWF War Zone.

Why does this sound like the Boomer Kuwanger stage from Megaman X though?
I never notice that until I read this comment
Yeah, it does.

This was probably the only good WCW video game.
Revenge was pretty good too.
Wcw vs the world wasn’t bad either
