The Aburi Accord is a significant historical agreement that emerged from a meeting held in Aburi, Ghana, in January 1967, during the stages leading to the Nigerian-Biafran War. The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials from both the Nigerian government and the Eastern Region.
At the heart of the Accord was the attempt to find a peaceful resolution to the escalating conflict between the Nigerian federal government, led by General Yakubu Gowon, and the secessionist Biafran authorities, led by Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu.
The Accord aimed to address key issues, including the allocation of resources, control over regional affairs, and the status of the Eastern Region within Nigeria. During the meeting, a series of agreements were reached, with both sides consenting to a framework for a federal system that would grant more autonomy to the regions, including Biafra. The accord also outlined plans for a ceasefire and the withdrawal of federal troops from Biafran territories.
However, despite the initial optimism surrounding the Accord, subsequent disagreements and mistrust between the two parties led to its collapse. The failure to implement the agreements laid out in Aburi ultimately led to a full blown civil war, which resulted in significant loss of life and widespread suffering.

Imagine a whole past oba of benin Samuel Azouzua was the brain behind Gowon for not allowing him to return power back to the region after ABURI ACCORD
This statement is wrong in two respects.
1. Solomon Akenzua was not the Oba of Benin. He became oba some 10 years after the incident you allude to.
2. Solomon Akenzua should not be held responsible for whatever Yakubu Gowon decided. The final decision and responsibility lay with Gowon.
Lies he was the secretary to that delegation in ABURI ACCORD,pls don't misinformed us here ,the past Oba of Benin was the one that told Gowon that if he sign the ABURI ACCORD agreement that means Gowon has sold Nigeria at that time he hasn't become at all at all the Oba of Benin .

2. Yakubu Gowon is responsible for any decisions he took while he was Nigeria's head of state regardless of advice Solomon Akenzua or anyone may have offered him. Do you agree? Yes or no?
Gowon did the unthinkable and unpardonable, his stupidity and selfishness is mainly why we are in these mess today. I will continue to say these, it's either regional government or disintegration period
There is a reason why God gave Gowon long life. Is for him to see the Nigeria he killed 3 million people to protect. Unfortunately he takes pride even today that he kept a disunited people together.
