Saw Tegan and Sara this past weekend at Music Midtown and hearing them live was a dream come true! They played this song and countless favorites that I literally started crying in the middle of The Con. You never know how much you love a band until you see them in person and can openly cry at a concert. Great job this weekend ladies! You really did stop the rain storms once you started playing. These communication devices keep us connected with your partner (long-distance ones most especially), but can sometimes reach to a point where we have this false sense of 'knowing them' just by chatting or texting, etc. Relationships and breakups can happen over calls or sms or facebook, and this video just reflected that reality quite nicely, with a positive outlook on moving on.
This song feels so powerful to me, as I should say goodbye to someone that I've known for ten years and called my best friend for almost as long. It gives me hope, like I know I'm not just being stupid, I know that's what I should do after she hurt me. Thank you Tegan and Sara for the song and being a comfort for me!
After doing this for 16 years and JUST NOW breaking into the top 40 and getting mainstream recognition, I think T&S are entitled to make whatever kind of music and music videos they want. Whether or not you like Heartthrob, you can't disagree that with all their hardwork through the years, this success is sorta owed to them.
