I truly love all of your videos but the ones where you talk in-depth about succulents are some of my personal favs! I feel like I learn so much from you!
Thanks for your advice on watering; I opened my iPad calendar and changed the dates for plants I watered today to three weeks instead of two. I’ll watch ‘em for water begging 😉. Really having fun gathering info about cacti and succulents that stay small.
I don't know how you keep all of the exotic cacti names straight?!? You are pretty amazing and I can tell that you have really educated yourself on the subject. How did you get into growing cactus? I never realized how beautiful cacti are.
omg do u know how many videos and articles ive read trying to figure out where i went wrong with my succulent?? and none of them said anything about what was happening, it was a sunlight issue. it flattened and then died. and now i know it was because of sunlight. not water or soil
Very informative👍🏽 I was gifted a little pot of succulents from a client and had no idea how to care for them. I wanted to keep them inside, but I'm kinda glad I put them outdoors now. I will keep an eye on them and with the tips you gave, I'm hoping to keep the little guys alive.
Thank u very much. I'm a very experienced gardener BUT I just started to collect succulents and they've turned everything I know on its head. lol they're so different and cool.
Thanks so much for the tips. I constantly kill my succulents bc I just didn't take the time to learn how to really care for them. I would love to start growing more because I had a cat who constantly ate them too. She passed on to kitty heaven now. Perhaps she will shine some light on them for me haha ❤️❤️
Sam Greenslyfox i know this comment was a long time ago! But if you ever get a new kitty you can always learn how to macrame a plant hanger and hang them up inside. I have all my plants hanging from various places, safe and sound from my plant destroying cats lol!
I love how all of your plants are in white pots! What a beautiful style! I'm glad you mentioned looking at the signs the plants give you, that's a great tip.
Love your video. Im just starting with succulents. Straight to the point , accurate and educational. So many other videos do so much talking and off topic. Thank you for your knowledge.
This video is fantastic! I was at my wit's end with all my succulents dying in the middle of winter (and living in the wet PacNW) but this is a great help! Thank you.
this video is so helpful! I just started with two baby succulents (they're so tiny!!) that I got as a gift from a friend... mine are zipper plant and the other is the pastel grey one... my favorites. they're indoors but receive sunlight everyday because I keep them in my window and my room receives sun the whole day... I was in doubt about watering them, and you helped a lot. thank you so much!!! (your plants are beautiful)
This video is a life saver! I have a pretty green thumb when it comes to all other plants other than succulents. Somehow I always kill mine. Gonna try these tips out thank you!!
I've been watching lots of succulent videos but non of them had told about the problem. now i know why my echecverias are stretching out and some of my kalanchoe are widely opened. thank u so much
Awesome video, love the music you use and the font. I love succulents, and loved your idea of spray painting clay pots white. The white color really shows off the plant, but you can't find white plastic pots anywhere these days. So I'm going to spray paint my own pots. I like to put all my succulents on a rolling cart. It goes to my front porch all summer then rolls into the house in front of the window for winter. Oh and your plants look great with the white gravel too. 5 stars on this video.
Excellent advice and information Christine! It is perfect timing for me as my daughter and I are just starting to plan the purchase of these type of plants for inside the house! I've saved your video as it will be our perfect guide. Thank you from 2 Canadian French girls! I 🇨🇦😍
Awesome tips! After watching one of your decor videos I went and bought 10 succulents! Well..lost 3 of them but have learned not to over water or which ones need sunlight. Keep the videos coming, these plants add such a Zen element to a home.
I really enjoy your videos! You cover such a wide range of topics and you share so many great ideas and information. Thank you, Christine, for the time and effort you put into all your videos for us! Please continue the wonderful job you do for us for a long time!
Thanks! You definitely sound like an expert, and I’m sure that these videos are helping so many people. I actually appreciated how quickly you talked. It kept me engaged and I felt like I was able to learn a lot more in a short period of time. I always joke that I have a brown thumb figuratively and literally, so I have been scared of plants for a long time. (And they have been scared of me) LOL. Praying that I can keep these two new haworthia succulents I bought alive.
DID I TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOOOOVE, LOOOOVE YOUR TIPS? NO MATTER WHAT ARE THEY ABOUT :) PLEASE GIVE AS MANY TIPS AS YOU CAN! I"M READY TO DIGEST ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS!LOL!!! THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR WHOLE CHANNEL! HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!
Your videos are so helpful and educational... and I love the way you style your white pots...... my next DIY project ...... thank you for the inspiration 🙂
Hi Christine! Thank you so much for this video! I have a tiny little Echeveria that is experiencing stem stretching and until now, I had no idea what was causing it! Would love to see a video on correcting that (ie. trimming it and letting the stem scab over as you mentioned in the video?). Thanks again!! I am always in awe of your talent and knowledge concerning all of your hobbies and interests!!
I'm getting a cactus or a succulent for my birthday and I'm really scared it's going to die! But you told me what type of cactus to get for beginners and that really helped! Thanks and this was a good video!
Hi Christine...I just read your blog and am so excited you are coming to our west coast!! I live in Vegas and the dry climate is heavenly...especially on the hair! Ha!! Good luck with your move now on to your video!!! Love ya!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo CAROL
Hi Christine :) unfortunately I missed the instagram post that we could ask our questions for this video... thank to you I started growing some caucuses and succulents and I even succeeded to propagate 4 little babies. It is a really nice new hobby. This weekend there will be a small cactus show and I hope to buy some more rare plants, because what you can get in shops in my area is very basic.
Christine, this video is an absolute gem! Please, don't stop making videos on cacti and succulents. You're so knowledgeable, I don't know what my plants and I would do without you.
Thank you for sharing this is very informative. Could you please make a video like this for orchids? I have had the worst luck with my orchids for the last few months. Thank you!! Love your channel 🌺🌻
Great video Christine! Can you do a more indepth video on the signs & symptoms of over & underwatering for different types of succulents. I'm still guessing at it but since I am using a gritty mix, I haven't lost any yet. That would be so very helpful to me. I appreciate you insight into my favorite hobby. Thanks!!!!
Thanks so much for this video. Been wanting to try succulents now I'm going to today! I took notes and I'm off to find some. Thank you so much another great video !
You have such beautiful succulents, and I love the white pot! I have a couple echiveria (spelling?) that are stretched out. I didn't know why until you mentioned that in a prior video. I'd love to know how to fix/propagate them. Unfortunately where I live there isn't any direct sunlight indoors, and it's cold outside most of the year, so the only place they'll survive is inside. I've bought sempervivum for outside, which I love, since they'll survive the winters here. 😊
excellent video! will def bookmark it and I already send it to my son who is showing interest in them... i always loved them but they seemed to delicate I never dare... would love you to do do a video like this on orchids!!!! :)
09/03/16: Hi Christina: 2 month anniversary since breaking my left ankle but today I got to Home Depot to check out their sale on cactus and succulents and came home with five plants, a nice bag of appropriate dirt, small white stones, and a beautiful round bowl in which to plant them. I already had a square glass container so now I have two beautiful cactus and succulents to take care of and hopefully they'll do well in the big front window. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope you are well.
This was such an amazing video and easy to understand. Thank you for all the tips and tricks. (Syringe) I have recently moved to a place that has crows everywhere so I’m not even able to leave my succulents outdoors so they’re currently living in doors. I’m also on a plot of land where the sun only covers the front part of the house. And the back in some areas only. For the most part they do well because this isn’t the first time seeing I have to move them in during the winter but soil and watering is something that always scares me. I buy Miracle Gro Cactus, Palm and Citrus soil and I have heard (and just exactly how you say,) to water until it starts draining outside the little hole. Well by the next day, the soil appears to be dry on top. Even knowing this I won’t touch it because I know I just had watered them and I’m really hoping that the soil is nice and moist inside. But sadly, I’m also at work 8 hours a day so I’m only able to give them sun for around 2-3 hours when I get home. I can’t leave them on shelves near sunny windows because I have a cat and she unfortunately knocks things down. So they’re all on one very tall shelf until I get home. I hope they make it. But is that normal? The soil to be dry on top? I wish I could send you a picture. I’m also currently propagating using the water method in a mason jar and it’s been amazing! Now I’m ready to transfer to a pot, is it smart to let the wet roots dry first and then repot? Any help is appreciated and love all your videos!
I forgot to ask you if you are aware that there are excellent salsas that you can make from cacti? I am thinking that ethnic mexican markets sell the type of cacti leaves that you make salsa from. Maybe you could do a vlog about it? That would be awesome Christine!
Extremely helpful video!! 😊 I'm new to having succulents and watching s few of your videos has already shown me that I've made a couple rookie mistakes. Still hoping they push through 😥
I recently bought a purple pearl echeveria, my first succulent, but I kind of wish that I had picked a green one that needs less sun. I'll do my best to keep it alive, but I'm already feeling pretty nervous. This made me feel a little better.
I wish I knew about the dry soil to dry soil when repotting. I lost a lovely aloe because of root rot. I did get some cuttings to grow from it though (my first successful attempt) so I might see if I can transfer one of those little guys to the pot and see how they go
Thanks for this video! so much information, I'm learning a lot! Your succulents inspire me and I'm growing my own. Looking forward to more of your tutorials!
Thnx for sharing Christine :) great advice. Would love to see more vids on succ/cacti 😉 I've been propagating for a little while now and hope to sell at the markets asap. Love your little setup with your baby succs. Love your market stall. Love your vids. Have a happy day 😊💕💙💜💚
I have been getting into the hobby of growing succulents and cactuses lately and this video was really helpful and informative, thank you! Maybe you can include the caption with the name of the succulent/cactus when you mention it? Again, thank you for the video :)
Thanks for the video! I agree what everything u said. From experience hawarthias are sooo easy! Aloes and snake plants are great for low light! I’ve killed my Echeverría cuz I don’t have much light in my house😪
God! thanks for explaining under watering signs and overwatering. i had researched why my succulents getting mushy but wrinkled in the bottom, all my researchs told me that if it wrinkles, it's underwatering. so i water more. but it didn't get better. now after watching your video where you explain the signs that the bottom gets wrinkled but mushy - now i know i've been overwatering! Agnes Gufi if you don't water for a while the bottom leaves will get soft. So just make note of when you have watered them and let them bottom leaves get soft and then maybe water again. I always tough the bottom leaves whenever I get a chance just to see how long they stay turgid that's a indication it's holding water longer. Just remember beach weather is the weather they love. If you can mimic that your succulents will thrive.
Yay I'm so glad that I found your channel! I love succulents but I haven't had much luck growing them inside. Thank you for the tips I will definitely try again! Can I still grow them inside if I live in a cold climate?
Can you do a video on air plants? The ends of my air plant are turning almost black, but not sure how to remedy. Also thanks for the tips on the succulents, I now realize mine aren't getting enough sunlight. Any tips on how to remedy the stretching of the leaves?
This is such an AMAZING video Christine :-) I LOVE my cacti and succulents and all these tips are INCREDIBLE :-) thanks a million for sharing and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and happy growing from Ireland and have a BRILLIANT Friday ahead XXXXX
I love these succulent videos, Christine! I was in dire need of this video, I kept killing my succulents and I had no idea why :'( I'm going to try again! And I want to pot it in one of your DIY ideas, which I also love hehe. One tip: maybe put the succulent's name in text on the bottom of your screen? I tried googling what you were saying but it was so fast! Google corrected me: Crassula Ovata, Haworthia, and Echeveria.
even though this was a month ago, and easy way to deal with stretching is to decapitate the plant. cut it off up until the leaves growing are close together again, then take all the stretched leaves off. the stump may produce babies off the side of it so be patient. then put the top in water OR wait for it to callous over then put it in dirt. hope this helped if u still needed it
I love succulents my fav & do hear how easy they r to take care however I've had no luck whatsoever ur video was helpful however would u consider a video on how to plant once u bring them home?
Thanks! It was a pencil holder I found on clearance at TJ Maxx. Originally it was black, so I spray painted it gold and drilled a drainage hole in the bottom. It's a DIY project from my video "5 DIY Decor Ideas For Succulents". :)
Hi Christine! can you please do a propagation videos for succulents? I can't seem to get the hang of it. I've looked to see if you have a video on propagation and I didn't find one on your channel.
Thank you so much! Now I know what happened and what I can improve! I would really like to see how to get roots on the cut of top of a succulent! Love i
Thank you so much for this video! I have been trying to grow succulents and they are slowly dying :( Your video has helped me understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to keep trying. I really enjoy your videos, you inspire me! ;)
I truly love all of your videos but the ones where you talk in-depth about succulents are some of my personal favs! I feel like I learn so much from you!
Thank you so much! Omg I could talk about succulents forever haha.
I love the succulent lessons!!! I think this should be a series, how to propagate, what to do in different seasons, etc.
Thanks for your advice on watering; I opened my iPad calendar and changed the dates for plants I watered today to three weeks instead of two. I’ll watch ‘em for water begging 😉. Really having fun gathering info about cacti and succulents that stay small.

Thanks Nicole! :D

Love how packed full of info this is! Now I know what happens to my succulent 😞

Great! Will do the propagation video very soon! :D
Thank you for this video. I live in South Dakota and I have been struggling with my indoor succulent garden.

I wondered what do use as white gravel Color in your pots . Love the fire sticks can’t find it in Melbourne
Extremely helpful video!! 😊 I'm new to having succulents and watching s few of your videos has already shown me that I've made a couple rookie mistakes. Still hoping they push through 😥
Very nice and an encouraging video for newbies like me.
I’m getting my first little cactus (potentially cacti) on Wednesday and this video helped me so much! Thank you!! ❤️🌵
very well done video!! can you do an indoor non succulent care video too? your so knowledgable!!
would love to see how you propagate and an update on your succulents! thx
Great! Will do. :)
I did get some cuttings to grow from it though (my first successful attempt) so I might see if I can transfer one of those little guys to the pot and see how they go
I never comment UA-cam videos but this one is really a good one, and very informative! Great work and video editing 👏👏
Have a happy day 😊💕💙💜💚
Thank you soooo much for this video and the others pertaining to succulents. I have been getting into this. Lots of great advice! Great channel.

Thanks for the video! I agree what everything u said. From experience hawarthias are sooo easy! Aloes and snake plants are great for low light!

Oops I have been over watering mine and need to change the soil adding some gravel ! Great video 🙂
Thanks girl! No worries, it happens. Glad I could help. :)
I would love to see a video on how to fix a stretched succulent. It's almost spring and one of my succulents is super stretched right now.
even though this was a month ago, and easy way to deal with stretching is to decapitate the plant. cut it off up until the leaves growing are close together again, then take all the stretched leaves off. the stump may produce babies off the side of it so be patient. then put the top in water OR wait for it to callous over then put it in dirt. hope this helped if u still needed it
after your videos i fell in love with succulents :)

The gold elephant pot is SO Cute! Do you recall where it was from, please?
Thanks! It was a pencil holder I found on clearance at TJ Maxx. Originally it was black, so I spray painted it gold and drilled a drainage hole in the bottom. It's a DIY project from my video "5 DIY Decor Ideas For Succulents". :)
