Elite: Dangerous - Massive Alien Base Discovered
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- With a small release new secrets appeared in the game universe and the Canonn research group wasted no time in tracking down signals from beacons, fighting their way through hostile NPC's and decoding a message that brought them to a massive alien base, presumably of Thargoid origin.
/ canonn
MadRaptor produced the activated device footage at the end - please check out his work:

There's Scott...finding crazy shit in the galaxy...then there's me. afraid to leave the vicinity of underwood station
At least you're past Threvithick!
@@viola_case ahh good old LHS 3447.
May I recommend trying your hand at deep core mining? It's a good kickoff for anyone who's trying to get their foot In the door.
@Alan Justin not sure whats more sad the fact that your spamming on UA-cam or the fact that you're spamming about hacking your gf's account XD
Holly Lee It‘s not sad at all, that and the bot that responds to it are bots, they neither waste their time spamming nor did they hack anyone‘s stuff, it probably leads to a scam site and the dude that programmed these is making good money off of it
They should add an "I want to believe" ship decal as an reward for when you run into enough Thargoid stuff.
Maybe an X as well?
Muka hantu 👻👻👻👻👻👻👻 ibngmgvd
Idk... i've seen those weird things before...
alien eggs
corrosive materials
weird signals
unidentified structures
Ridley Scott already warned us about that.
omnomnom
there's 5+ of these sites, all with subtle differences.. by far the most interesting alien addition to the game so far, and it's even better, you can spot them from orbit, makes finding new sites much easier.
Can you see them from orbit without Horizons? I've not been able to even partially get involved in the alien stuff, but maybe now I can at least get a glimpse.
DoctorWhoFanBadWolf yes I'm curious about this too
Cmdr Flint maby you need to visit these places in some sort of order???
Large tentacle like structures....check....Iris eye like structure in the middle......check....Gurgling like sound effects............check...Elder Gods and Cthulhu confirmed. Please check your sanity at the airlock and breath in that sweet, sweet vacuum....
No, this is a job for a exturminatis
8:46 unknown Organic Structure? Pew-Pew-Pew it!
Adequate space explorer approach. Humanity is doomed.
Thank you. Excatly! We are so stupid!
Thankfully astronauts and pilots are selected very well irl...for now anyway, who knows it could end up like a regular drivers license lmao
... once again, a great addition to Euro Screenshot Simulator 2017.
How do you guys find such sites?
I'm a rookie explorer on my first trip to a nebular, only a couple of thousands LY away (so, not really far away).
I enter a system, discovery scan for planets, scan for all surface details - and then?
How do I even know where I have to search for anything?
I have absolutely no clue...
+Andreas Heidrich follow the Cannon research group
Thanks mate :-)
-Buying this game recently, gradually falling in love with both it and the wealth of youtube videos about its gigantic world - pretty good
-Suddenly remembering one of your favourite youtubers has loads of stuff about it that you've never got round to watching - *priceless*
Obviously this is Shai Hulud and the planet is Arrakis a couple million years after the death of the God-Emperor of Dune!!!
You... I like you.
:D
Indeed, this one is... developed.
maybe after the Honored Matres used the weapon of the Enemy on the planet?
Blessed be his comings and passing!
Elite: Dangerous sort of reminds me of Ready Player One, nobody really knows what's going on and it seems like a real thrill to discover this content, and not simply reading guides on the game's wiki page.
And people get overly excited about it because there is literally nothing going on in this game and people go like OMG A NEW HALF ASSED ASSET ISNT ED AMAZING?
Half assed how? Also you think people over hype Elite? what about No Man's Sky, that was and still is worse in every way. :3
it may be half assed, but it's still the best in what it offers.
There is no proof of it being the "best", infact its not that good at all in comparrison to other games and its fans all seem to have the superior to everyone else complex, maybe something to do with it costing 10x, maybe 100x the price its actually worth at a push anyway. The ships are over expensive for a start...
tell me 1 that does what Elite does, but better.
"Go to this planet and check out these coordinates..."
Is that really a *discovery*?
T Hirakawa They know where the place is, they dont know whats there
Assisted discovery
That's not really how it works, you find an unidentified beacon and then it transmits a message like once an hour or so. You pickup the message, it's a bunch of mess and use NATO decryption to make sense of it. It shows coordinates and the planet in the same system and then you actually fly there. One decrypted by a single player though it's marked in EDSM and additional sites like those and there's no longer a need for others to do the same.
I would just love to be able to step out of my ship for once and explore on foot. Just imagine all the possibilities.
-Walking around your ship, with total immersion
-Being able to jump through the rings of a planet
-Having FPS battles with people
There's just too much to mention. Many things to think of. Once they do add this though, you'd have 3 main ways to get around. Either from Flying, Driving, or Walking. This would just add much much more variety in the game with much more opportunities, and you guys know this. If you think deep enough you'd be overwhelmed with the possibilities that come to mind.
+Your Lord it may come eventually. Right now if you have a room scale VR setup you can walk around the cockpit of ships.
Hey I'll try that, thanks!
That is coming in another two year season pass process and you have to buy the base game and horizons again.
I ran into Thargoids once...
I was in a hauler. They melted me. Can’t remember what system, but it was inside the bubble.
And then Scott discovers an entire base.
Control pad works wonderfully, I use an Xbox controller on PC.
Personally, I prefer to use a gamepad for the SRV.
TechyBen PS4 controller works a million times better IMO. You can snap to the different menus by pressing certain corners of the touch pad. Not to mention you can look around by pressing R3 and moving the controller around.
you can look the same with xbox controller too, most people who had a xbox controller when elite came out already had binds like that before elite added their own default controller setup like a year later and i dont know what ps3 controller is like (with windows support/drivers etc) but with xbox you can have 3 or 4 button binds for every digital input so you can literally bind every single control to something on the controller
Been playing this on my Xbox One X with the Elite Controller, just awesome.
Just to think we can now have game's like this running (very well) on a home console is incredible, something us console owner's could only dream of if lucky have to put up with a shitty, cut-down version of not too long ago.
The more I see of the Thargoids, the more they remind me of the Mysterons. Maybe it's the fact we've never seen any in the flesh and also their penchant for shining lights at things.
Just wait for them to pop their 6 pool
nah we're still safe till they get Spires, then we'll be drowning with Mutas.
when my eyes went down the list of suggested vids skimming through the headlines my first thoughts were like 'what.. alien base?... elite? just another alien ufo clickbate crap?.... or... wait a moment.... what?'
it apparently went completely past my attention that Elite has received a 2014 follow up version... Elite was a special (probably live changing) kind of experience back those days and I never knew there's a new version... and, well... obviously some graphical improvements have taken place since :D
curse my 14 light year jump limit,
outfit a hauler for exploration, or a cobra if you can afford it.
Oodain and do the rags to riches route. I wish I did that, I'm currently way too far into my tens of thousands ly trip to a random asteroid station, to turn back and do that instead.
Go to high extraction zones and get bounties
your jump limit is underaged, she must be more than 16 to do exploration, remember that
python life
PS4 Players do not only play on the dualshock 4 controller. Thrustmaster developed a HOTAS which is no 4. This was specifically put in as another controller by Frontier. With this extra controller Elite Dangerous is a Dream to play and so intuitive and ads another dimension to the game.
As of July 1 2017 0350 UTC, there are 38 confirmed sites, 28 unconfirmed, for a total of 66 so far.

hey scott, do i need any dlc to make this game enjoyable? or could i pick up the base game and still enjoy it?
Also, is this game really just a grind? or is there a vast amount of activities that progress you to do?
LackingExperience it's a grind with not much to it and online is a terrible idea unless you are in a combat ready ship due to greifers
but if you are alright with being a space trucker then you'll be ok
LackingExperience buy the game and horizons, exploration in this game is lovely
draconianwarking Come on now, not everyone is a griefer, quite the opposite, and you can always join PVE exclusive private groups.
MrShadowofthewind all it takes is one guy who wants live target practice
As Someone who hated the grind just a while back. It ain't that bad anymore. Mission payout is buffed and it isn't that hard to do a mission in your sidewinder that'll award you 100k. (back in the day i remember not getting much more that 3-4 k if i was lucky 20).
I also hated the "ship gap" in the beginning. For almost every profession there was a ship that you'd get stuck in. For a long time. I was stuck in the Viper for instance, when i moved on to trading so i could AT LEAST switch up to the cobra. Which i then had to earn 1.000.000 > for so i could get a type 6. ( roguey.co.uk/elite-dangerous/ships/ ) roguey's site is awsome, i used it for X3:AP all the time. Sort by price, and imagine there was nothing between the viper mark 4 and the cobra mk 4, there was also no imperial eagle.
That's a 700k gap. That i had to deal with way back when. It sucked.
There are now more viable ships you can fly in between. so it ain't that boring any more. There's still of course a bit of gap present. But it isn't as bad as way back in alpha, beta.
For instance, i want to go exploring but i only have 3 million in assets total. and the best discovery scanner is 3 million already... so shit. That's why i'm doing rare trading now until i can get an ASP or something similar.
I can't tell you anything about horizons since i've bought the 100 get-almost-everything edition back in alpha/beta. For a while i really was angry i didn't refund back during the always online debacle. But i don't mind now :)
I'd reccomend not sticking to one profession. do some combat, some trading, some mining etc. Currently the game is "space trucking sim" since i'm doing rare trading in my Type 6(buying a dolphin today i hope :) ). But that's my choice. I could also buy another ship and to do combat missions.
Holy shit, I love Scott’s KSP vids I didn’t even know he played ED. Truly a space renaissance man.
im loving this game on the X in 4K quality mode
"What kind of propulsion, that is?" -Yoda Manley
Thank you Scott - love your style ... very refreshing among all the scatterbrain UA-cam contributors. Thargoid structures remind me of Prometheus' organic spaceships and structures ... Elite Dangerous devs keep adding new material for exploration and investigation ... keeps surprising me ... nice pace of keeping an otherwise declining (?) game interesting and up to date. Don't stop working on it devs, ELITE is a nice fun alternative between StarCitizien and EVE. Keep to this recipe and you will have a market in the Space exploration/trading/shooter genre. I have played ELITE 35 years ago ( ! ) on my Commodore64 on a 640x460 black and white television with wire frame graphics ...smiles. ELITE and Sundog were the best games back then and the recipe still works it seems.
Hi Scott, I'm going to test the power of different types of rocket fuel in the same rocket engine as a high school project. The rocket will be sitting on rails with Newton springs to indicate the thrust that is being delivered. My physics teacher likes and approves the idea, fortunately .
My guess it was a mobile industrial area of some sort. It probably was building at least Corvette/Clipper-class or maybe even capship-class starships. It has likely exhausted all the planet's useful resources and the Scavengers are ROVs picking any remaining useful materials before the factory ship leaves.
I'm sure that the central structure is the starship itself and everything else are waste products and off-casts from the ship fabrication process. Why couldn't Scott get into the first one? Simple: The factory ship was getting ready to leave and the inner airlock doors were sealed. The second one discovered by the Canonn clan is likely active. The display they found may be a navigational aid or it could be a strategic map showing targets identified by the UAs and UPs.
Check out the elite subreddit right now, lots more stuff recently discovered. People have discovered starmaps from audio spectrographs as well as gaining access to one of the bases thats still active that seems to be projecting a galaxymap from some alien object.
We do know now that they're indeed Thargoids, this was the result of the CG during E3.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
And I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but for those interested in using a controller in the future, if you want to check messages it's X+dpad Up (Xbox controller). X+left, right, down will show the Nav panel, Functions panel and Helm panel respectively. You can use free look as well, but like you mentioned, it doesn't focus in and it can be a bit shaky.
I keep hearing and finding a lot of weird stuff surrounding specifically Merope, and the other Pleiades stars named after the Greek Pleiades. I'm wondering if, because of the Greek myths connections to Orion, any of the system in the Orion constellation might be involved with the Thargoids?
I searched for Phil Schneider... why UA-cam returned this result???
That is absolutely fucking incredible. I played ELITE until i had blisters on the good old commodore 64 as a youngster. I tried elite dangerous when it came out but i guess with age my gaming skills severely diminished and i just couldn't get the hang of flying properly. It is amazing to see what it has evolved into. Always remember the Thargoids interrupting jumps in the original , ah the memories. Great video.
My belief, Its like a parasite, eating at the core/ or just the planet and it is some sort of resource gatherer/ mother ship/ communication site
scott the second time i went i could lock onto it from several light seconds from it it was identified as unknown structure.
Yep, once you find it it'll be marked from 1000LS out making a return easy.
8:50 thats probably an air vent or something, heat looks to be coming out of it
Exactly what I thought, too. It's a very generic portrayal of heat refraction in games.
Nah, that's a space cancer vent
Scott it has been confirmed they are Thargoids. You cannot say we don't know anymore.
calling it, the mouth is the thargoid's mailbox.
hey scott, can you send me your ASP Explorer build that you are using, thanks
@szyzyg @Scott Manley Hey Scott, if you want to use a controller for Elite Dangerous please let me recommend changing the default controller settings the game defaults to. I do not know why but ever since horizons has come out they default the controls to an advance controller preset that really isn't that great. Instead switch it over to Default Context (try saving going back in and saving a few time, it really doesn't like switching to this sometimes). If you are in default context preset, then your main a,b,x,y buttons will have actions on single press, but also when you hold the buttons will have a context menu come up showing you key combinations. Like holding Y (triangle for PS) and pressing left on dialog opens galaxy map, Y right opens system map, Y up jumps to supercruise and Y down jumps to hyperspace. This is the controller design used by the xbox version (and presumably the playstation version) that allows the user to access most of the controls you have access to on the keyboard.
TLDR: Go to settings and switch to Default Context for Gamepad support, it is how the game was designed to be played on consoles.
The console controls are not the same as you mentioned, and it is configurable to make it easier to use for what its worth.
The Xbox One X does seriously good justice to this masterpiece. Awesome game.
They seem to be terraforming the immediate area around the structure creating an atmosphere. Might explain the color shift you see from orbit.
It is truly amazing how far they've come with Elite.
I hope you meant it in a sarcastic way.
@@fingpolak I mean from its inception in 1984. They still need to fix some stuff.
those players should work at Bletchley park
0:15 I wish jumps were really that fast!
With a controller you can hold X on Xbox or square on PS4 then use the dpad to lock onto the different screens in the ship. Makes it a lot easier. I honestly find
that playing with a controller is the way to go if you don't have flight sticks.
what is the song you used at the very end when you offer additional videos to check out? it sounds fantastic!!
Looks like the remains of the Zerg Overmind on Aiur xD
The game looks nice, but the main thing preventing me from getting it is the fact that the single-player mode is online-only, according the Wikipedia page for the game. So, basically The Crew, in my opinion, but a space version.
Scott, scientifically and physically, compares to how you do it in KSP, how can spaceship like in this video be able to perform it's real-time maneuver? Is it sheer power? Planets gravity doesn't seem to affect the ship movement at all. This been bugging me for some time.
You need a UA in your cargo to open the doors, Scott. Give it a try!
My first thought on the scavengers were the sentinels from no man's sky ugh
Every time I play this game in it's current state I just get bored, but you make it look fun again, maybe being by myself in this huge galaxy is just overwhelming.
No, it's because the Devs are GREAT and i mean GREAT. at visuals, and sound design. but horrifically awful at making the games base content fun, and Scott Cut's a lot of the monotonous jumping, and grinding out for us (which i really appreciate).
Everything boils down to grinding for a better ship, that's what they rely on. instead of engaging content, they add in new things to grind for, like power-play and engineers.
I think they made it TOO big. much like No Mans Sky, too much relying on Procedural generation, though obviously, NMS makes this game look good by comparison.
i just hope that we aren't locked out of trying to negotiate and/or work with the thargoids.
Thats the best game i have ever seen in my life
Hello past me
I wouldn't mind joining you Scott I just got the game and I already have the hauler. I'm using trading and delivery to work my way up to a good ship.
hey scott, what is your favorite ship? at the moment i am flying an upgraded keelback with a fighter bay. very versatile allrounder ship. great even for exploration. but i am already looking forward. any suggestions?
That's curious, I watched many of your scientific videos but it is the first time I see you playing a videogame. I searched and could not see you playing X: Rebirth though, which is somewhat like Elite: Dangerous, but single player and with a slightly different focus. Any reasons?
if the smaller ships were barnacles is this thing Charybdis ?
Here's a theory, you know how one of the things you covered in your last E:D video was a small 'Thargoid' ship seemingly refueling, or something, from a barnacle, what if these 'bases' are the same deal, only scaled for use by massive capital ships?
Need a little bit more foreplay before trying to put your Uplink through that door. It may be lacking lubricant.
did you try flying in from the top with the actual spaceship, maybe its a port for docking of the sorts.
It looks like a tremors - was that the movie? - sand worm dead - coming up one for some reason one last time....
You were pretty entertaining. Definitely subbing
Those "bases" look somewhat to the ones found in some of the Xcom games. Cool.
That's a Vong Worldship!
Wait... VONG? RUNNNNNNNN!!!!
RUN!
Run from the horrible rape of canon!
Worldship ? Did you mean warship* ?
Nope, Worldship. Gigantic sea-star shaped semiorganic mothership thing.
Make it easy on yourself and submit, Scott Manley.
6:18 Lol the way you said "MMM SCAVENGERS"
Hey Mr. Manley?, I noticed that you have A LOT of money, how did you get all of that? I am "okay" at combat, and excellent at trading, and moderate at exploration, I wondered, is It all because of just grinding, or something else?
I'm not even playing this game, and I'm watching every video he makes about it.
Hi Scott. I remember having seen one of your KSP videos where you tested what the maximum reentry velocity was, but I can't find it. Is it gone or am I just too dumb to find it?
Like LV might be a just been there retreating riddance, Elite's Galaxy still has it's casualties, I would think that sure all faction's would be interested. Croissant? not yet but an idea for a name if I ever get that excuse to try to meet the Empress
i've seen this discussed and shown all around the internet, but i still wait for the scott manley vid for it!
Oh look, the art design team discoverd H.R Giger
I feel like I might have made a discovery in elite dangerous but I couldn't check it out because I didn't have a planetary approach suite at the time.
Nice one Scott - am 1000's of ly's away from all the buzz atm - no hurry to return either ;)
She's not just going to let you in there. You'll have to wine and dine first.
I like the TK-421 reference.
A nod to the movie Alien.
it looked like youre sitting in mid of the repulsion system or the CMD-Bridge
(if it is really a Ship of the Thargoides)
could be a mother ship ??
Space Sarlacc? More like Yuuzhan Vong worldship. Hear anything go hiss or boom? RUN.
So the alien base it's a bunch of static meshes with ugly textures? Wow, FD did it again..
Looks like a mega sarlacc, that eats capital ships rather than bounty hunters.
The scavengers and the general aesthetic they went for with the thargoids is really reminiscent of the aliens from he 90's version of Battlezone.
every time I think of something interesting to look up, It's all ready a damn game!
* Sees a giant superstructure on a planet, maybe thargoid tech, looks like a giant Sarlacc*
Cmdr Scott: Let's land and get on the SRV to get litteraly inside it!
I'm a big noob and just started this game but you know you can use X + Dpad to see your different panels
My theory: It's a shipyard or underground city. The 'geysers' are atmosphere generators or vents which create breatheable air for the aliens. The scavengers are possibly repurposed workers by the aliens since the base is abandoned.
Played this with the Alien Theme in the background, immersion +100%
x+up on the dpad opens social, x+right opens nav panel etc. its pretty nice and easy for console players
It looks like my arse after I've had space curry, poor little Sidewinder can't even contain the smell.
So I was reading when the game was first released there was tearing and other issues like frame rate problems. I was interested in getting the PS4 Elite Dangerous: Commander Deluxe Edition. Does anyone know if these corrections were made?
you should try exploration with an anaconda with a fighter bay,
zipping around a planet's surface in a gu97 beats the HELL out of the srv
TK421, why are you not at your post? ... Ah we have a faulty transmitter. ;)
So IDK if its just me, but I went to the coordinates of the base and nothing is there... I don't know if it got removed after the beyond update, or is now floating in space somewhere.
"They kept on missing with the unknown probe..." most suggestive (wink, wink) thing I've heard all day.
I had landed on this place once, sadly can't get inside the cave to have a look.....
