I love underdogs. Which is why I’ve had a soft spot for Yamaha guitars since I was a kid staring up at my Dad pouring his heart out over top of an old Red Label FG. Yamaha fan for life ❤
I hope you’ll do a side to side with the FS9 models and Yairis OMs. Not about choosing which is “better” because they are all great, just to hear their individual sonic qualities.
Being the proud owner of 4 dreadnoughts I am interested in the Yamaha S sized guitars. The LS16 I played was very loud but I am not such a huge fan of Engelmann. These adi tops sound powerful and crisp!
I love Yamaha guitars and have the FG9M and a hand built LL36. I assumed one of these would be an automatic purchase, but so far the demos are not sounding very good. While I wanted a mahogany OM, the LS36 or 56 (rosewood) just blows these out of the water to my ears.
Imagine a challenging day on the job. Grab some dinner and sit down afterward to strum one of these beauts to wash the days worries away. Your focus on presentation is paying dividends gentlemen.
Super sweet OM! I’m actually relatively tall, around 6 ft 1 inch but my 64 year old shoulders can’t tolerate Dreads. So I have 3 Grand Auditoriums and an OM. Dreads do have a great sound but not worth the shoulder strain when so many great GAs and OMs are out there. These FS9s are really special (and so are the Yairi FYM66 HD). Both killer OMs!!
I had to return my FG9 rosewood not because of the sound ( the sound was epic)omg but the fretwork issue so nasty I meant sharpy a random wood vibration on G string ( a wood like vibe buzz)…the QC probably was not a Japanese ( maybe outsourced in China or Indonesia 😢)
Bit tired of the "underrated Yamaha" thing. Who cares with brand snobs. The company has more money than all the US guitar companies combined. They make entry level and they make high end. They know guitars as well as anyone along with a whole lot of other instruments.
I’ve tried them all. I’ve owned high priced Martin’s and Taylor’s and tried almost everything in between over the last 40 years and I ultimately went back to buying strictly Yamaha! Not just because of the quality of their builds but their quality control is unmatched in the industry and I’ll fight anyone who claims anything different! I purchased my FG5 sight unseen just because I trust their quality control officers THAT much and I was NOT disappointed. I wouldn’t do that with ANY other builder in the industry. The guitar I received was absolutely blemish free and as straight as you could possibly expect it to be for an acoustic instrument. Not a thing out of place and no surprise disappointments! I’m in the process of hunting down a Rosewood FG 9 in my Province after having just purchased my FG5X less than 6 months ago. A guitar I’ve completely fallen in love with. There are evenings I literally have to force myself to go to bed to be up at 4am just because I’ve been enjoying getting my self reacquainted with Yamaha Guitars and my new FG5! Lol! Yamaha continues to surprise me ❤ #YamahaForLife
@@DionSt.Michael, I agree. Bought my FGX5 4 years ago based solely on reviews because I couldn't find any in my area, (Portland, Or), to try. I was not disappointed and it's sound just gets better with time. I like the D'Addario XS strings in 11 or 12's on it best, so far.
@@douglaswesson2458 Just getting to know mine as we speak but the more often I pick it up and play it the more I want too and for longer periods every time I play. And it hasn’t even been properly set up or plecked yet! I’m really curious to find out/hear if and/or how much it will open up over time with age especially in terms of their already seasoned tops. This will be my first personal experience with solid Mahogony. I’ve only ever owned/played rosewood spruce-topped instruments although my Dad gigged/partied on a 70’s era, solid Mahogany, red labeled FG he bought himself a little over 40 years before he had to retire the guitar for good. As cliche as it sounds, ‘if only that guitar could talk.’ Entertained thousands of folks for thousands of hours that’s for sure!
I bought a FG-9R which IS an amazing, mesmerising sounding guitar. I wonder why Yamaha didn't put the beautifull rope stripe on the back instead of the poor looking Maple stripe. Imho IT IS a design mistake. The rope could have been a unique corporate design element for the 9 series ...Maybe they change it some day? What do you think?
Why do I always buy Martin, maybe it is the funny shaped Yamaha pick guard, the plastic truss rod entrance on the headstock or that strangely shaped saddle? I feel spoiled with a D18 and a reimagined HD28. Perhaps the FG9 sounds “better” or maybe it is cheaper; something about that name on the headstock when you reach the 4000+ regions. I just love Martin and I love your channel!!

The Hamamatsu luthiers must have their pick of some really, really nice wood sets. Every one of these "9's" has amazing tone woods.

Oh, no, they are perfect. I don't know what to do with all my guitars, but I love those FS9s, they sound amazing!

Yamaha makes great guitars!!
Another one for the dream list.
So good!
Yamaha quality and workmanship and price on a "boutique guitar" !!!!!!
Wow, they sound amazing.
Agreed!
They should for that price.🙂
Yamaha is perennially underrated by most people.

Sounds great
Yamaha is killing it
Absolutely a great guitar, I would be honored thow own such a great instrument

Good day ☀️. Tricia S David from Trinidad West Indies...
You both are like a married couple because you're interrupting each other all the time. 😂
It's a brother thing 😅

Beautiful instruments. Do they make a parlor as well?
Yes and no, Yamaha does make a parlor size called the CSF, but they have not done that shape in this series.

What do you think?
Alas, another amazing guitar that is unaffordable
Yes, kind of pricey.🙂
Still have a pair of kidney left

Hiya!~ thank you,interesting -peace out. The. 👌
Too many people are sleeping on Yamaha guitars. They shouldn't.
Bit too angular for my comfort at about 3am. ;)
Is the neck glued on or is it like the Taylor?
They are a bolt-on neck, so similar to Taylor.
These are beautiful. Is there a parlor too?
i need it but my wallet says I dont
Amen!
Super nice but for that money some incredible used guitars can be had.
@@stuco yeah id still want a j40
Stop Interrupting each other! Your endless banter is annoying to the point that I almost forget what you’re trying to highlight, THE GUITAR!
Nitrocellulose
Too expensive compared to all their already existing good guitars
For that kind of money they could at least put a nice looking pickguard on the guitar or leave it off completely.
