found this because i’m in the process of adjusting a pant pattern to make them wider/cropped and this was such a pleasant watch!! i’ve been putting my own project off for a week but this may just give me the motivation i need haha
That stinks about the waistband! Sewing it upside down would remove the seam allowance on the larger curve that would make the waistband longer at the seamline where it attached to the pants, and cutting it on a different grainline could affect how much it could stretch to fit the pants, but I don't know if thats enough to short you a few inches. So frustrating, but I'm so happy you could pivot and make it work! If you really want to try to sus out the issue so you could use the waistband in the future, it may be worth measuring the pants at the waist seamline, minus the darts and pants seam allowances, and then measure the lower seamline of the waistband minus allowances to see if the actual pattern matches up. That would clear up if it was a cutting/sewing error vs. a pattern error. But this video convinced me to go download this pattern, so thank you!
Well done Katie!! I'm absolutely going to make myself a pair, thanks for the inspiration;) I can't believe that pattern is basically free. I think Peppermint Magazine has a bunch of great patterns.
The pants look so great! I'm so glad to see you making them because I wanted to make them for quite some time now. I've cut the fabric already but didn't get around to sewing them 😅 I have a tip for you which might be helpful when using PDF Patterns. On most of them, the sizes are saved in layers and you can turn off the ones you don't need. All Peppermint patterns I've used have this option. Hope this helps on your future projects!
morning, That was a fantastic pattern find, the fit is amazing. And your finishing skills are getting better by the week 😉. Sometime easy to skip over doing the bias as just want to get finished. But it makes a difference ❤😊
The pants are great! Like you, I would like them better long. I don’t care for cropped pants on anyone, but that’s just my preference. ❤️🤗🐝 also… they would look great with your new blue coat!🤗
I would say the most difficult part for me (other than the waistband not working) was figuring out the fly. Fortunately, it's a small area that I could easily pick out and redo in a short amount of time. Go for it and good luck!!
I made them (shorts, actually), and I absolutely loved them. The sizing is perfect. Maybe I would make the pockets a bit smaller next time, but they're great.
I thought the same thing about the pockets!! They're just a bit too big, probably because they go so far center. Maybe if they extended down the leg more they would be better. Glad I'm not the only one.
This is one of my favorite pant patterns. Completely confused as to what happened with the waistband since I use this curved waistband for my other pant patterns. Whichever way, nice job! They look absolutely fabulous on you.
I'm positive that the waistband is my fault. I probably missed an instruction or cut the wrong size or sewed the wrong allowance. But straight waistbands work fine for me so I'm happy going with that. Glad to hear it's a favorite; I can totally see why!
Omg I need pants that fit that are not elastic lol. I Love yours!!’ . I just can’t wrap my head around fly zippers they never come out. Do you think you could not do fly and put zipper in the side or back seam.
I love your pants except I’m not liking the button fly. They look awesome on you! You’re right, the back pockets are a good idea! I have this pattern but haven’t tried it yet. Now I’m thinking maybe I should!
I like the length but it kinda defeats the purpose of the fleece lining. Especially with the open legs. I know it's kinda a wearable mockup. I bought fleece capris once and I always had to wear them with leggings. They were to hot for warm weather.
So I tested them outside in chilly weather for about an hour and they were surprisingly warm. Maybe if it was windier they wouldn't have worked, but I was really happy that I didn't freeze from the knees down. And that's with wearing flats and no socks. Two thumbs up for me!
What an accomplishment! How absolutely satisfying is this - to make perfectly fitting pants?!
They look fabulous and so chic. 👌💕
Katie, they look phenomenal! I love them with the boots. ❤
ME TOO!! I couldn't believe how much I liked the whole outfit.
The perfect pants for you! 🙌 Woo hoo! The fit is amazing, and who wouldn’t want fleece lined? 😘
It was probably my best decision, except I can't wear them in the summer. Guess I'll just have to make more!!
@@KatieMakesStuff 🙌 More is good! Spring is on its way. 🌸
Those are so bloody cool, in every single way!
I love them so much!!
Love the quilted jacket. The pants came out great! I have the pattern, but I will make the capris regular length pants.
Me too! It's my favorite so far!
Winner 🎉🎉 , and I love the length so cute with boots 😊
I can't wait to wear them with flats to see what I like more 🤗
The pants looks great on you!

The final outfit is great! I think the pants would work better as full length for winter, but these are SO cute!
Agreed, definitely had chilly ankles. But I'll certainly make another, full length pair soon
Then you know what needs to come: Cord version!!
I've not seen you on my feed for so long! A new video, how exciting!!
Yeah, editing took way longer than I expected. Hoping to get back in the swing this week!
These are my favorite parents and everyone always makes them cropped. Can’t wait to make these
I've made a few pairs that are full length and they are just as great! Definitely a staple pattern now.
The pocket detail❤❤❤
It's my favorite part!!

Loved this I’m half way through my pair
Those turned out so cute. Very flattering on you ☺️
I love them SO much!!
Obsessed by that coat!!
Me too!!! I'm going to make another one very soon
Nice work, they look great!!
They are fabulous pants! I love the modifications you made and the crop with the boots is really cool xx
It's the closest I think I'll get to actually being cool! 😎😎
Wow! They look great!
Well done Katie!! I'm absolutely going to make myself a pair, thanks for the inspiration;) I can't believe that pattern is basically free. I think Peppermint Magazine has a bunch of great patterns.
I'm going to have to try so many more patterns from them! I couldn't believe how well these pants fit. Best of luck to you as you try them!

Ooooh, I'll have to look at that. I bet I totally missed the feature! Thank you!

I'm trying SO HARD to get better at the little details! I really want my clothes to look better than store bought. But it's a sloooooooooooow journey
great job!!! look really good
Fantastic!

I generally don't like cropped pants either, and these won't be an every day pant, but the pattern is so good that I have to make a longer pair!
@@KatieMakesStuff Right! Make several in different fabrics. They look like “go to” pants to me. They fit you well.❤️🤗🐝
These pants look amazing! I have yet to try sewing pants but these really make me want to give it a try...

@@KatieMakesStuff redoing seams is the worst! If it's just a little area, I can probably handle that. 😅
These look amaaaaaazing!! And I am really considering trying them. Good pants are an impossible find 🥺
DO IT!! These were so good, and now that I've made them once, the next time won't be nearly as difficult

J Stern Designs has a lot of information on fitting patterns.

Absolutely do it!! It's such a great pattern!
Very nice
Thank you!!
Would you mind sharing your regular size or measurements? Im attempting to do these pants this week and not sure about sizing!
I'm right around a size 10 or 34, 5'8" with a 31" inseam. I hope that helps!
Did I miss the projector and card stock demo?
Measure out the distance between how long you want them and how short they are. And extend them by that much And make them longer.
Done and done! I made a lighter pair that I posted about and am in love!!

@@KatieMakesStuff That's good. My feet and calves get cold easily. Most people have more tolerance to the cold though.
Dude...What's up with that ummm...erm. hat??? The coat issssssss FABULOUS!!!! not the 2 together!!! 🙈
Definitely not my most stylish moment, but if I swoosh the coat around enough it may distract folks from the hat
