I have worked in tv here in the UK for many years and I can tell you that you are a natural on the camera which is much much harder than most people realise, your presentation style is better than most so called pros!! Well done for a million subs, you truly deserve it for all the hard work, let's just hope the world doesn't go completely down the toilet...but I'm not holding my breath. That psychological preparation is easier said than done, for me anyway. I once was silly enough to believe I could handle just about anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Then I almost rolled an ATV and didn't even realize I was in shock. But I was, ... Adrenalin too. I was "high" for hours. Shock, that's big one. Then there's denial, anger, blame, and a whole lot of crap I'm sure I'm not even aware of. Acceptance helps. If you can manage that one eh? Good luck.
Good point. Most, including myself think they'll be ok. In truth though. U won't know, till u know. Sometimes it's the will to push on that can make a difference. Practice helps, but u just don't know what's round the next bend. U have to, adapt & persevere, to overcome. 👍 Good luck.
Phycological prep is tough. Sometimes you think your ready for something, but you don't know until your there. I recently underwent a very minor surgery that led to a very minor infection, but kept me down and out, unable to do much for about 2 weeks. By day 3 I was already beyond bored and starting to get stir crazy. By the end of week 1, and the news that the infection would keep me down longer, I was truly depressed. Luckily a few days after that, despite the infection, I was able to start to get around in the garden, walking the neighborhood, etc. But mental preparedness is massive and underrated.

Hand cranked solar powered radio, saw, knife, matches lighter & Ferro Rod, life straw, first aid kit, medicine, rocket stove, stainless steel cups & plates & emergency fold away cutlery, Woolen blanket, emergency food, tent, underwear, identity papers, hat, bug spray, rain coat, rubbish bags, sewing kit. I'm towing a trolley with food, oil, salt, breadboard for preparing meals. ( All light weight ) And carrying my emergency hens in a wire cage! Yes I can carry it & I'm sure I'll discard some things along the way but I'll be damned if I'm going camping forever without all I need! 🐔🐔
I can't criticise him for trying. You can find quality pre-made emergency bags cheaper with more all around essential items that this bag is missing. (Probably just stay away from Amazon...) I still don't understand the fascination with toilet paper tablets. You can only compress paper so much and you're paying for a lot of air... Just use a normal toilet paper roll, 3 quarters the space and literally 1/40th of the cost. Toilet paper tablets are only for ultralight backpacking short trips.
No kitchen sink? How are you going to wash up after cooking? Just kidding. I live in Asia and I just realized, I don't need a bugout bag. I carry a sleeping pad and sleeping bag in my luggage. Large battery, flashlight, small knife, photocopies of ID, cash, knowing multiple languages, is all you need. And multiple visas, residences around the world. Even in the countryside here it's full of houses and restaurants, there is no wilderness like in Canada. You must be able to negotiate smoothly and get to safety, don't worry about food and water. There are lots of isolated pre-industrial societies, just get yourself to one of those, rice paddies, grow chickens, that's how you survive. The thing is you hop on a train, bus, airplane, everything gets taken away, you can't carry a battery, you can't carry a knife, or lighter, matches. I have a small box opener on my keychain, nobody notices that. And I carry a small crowbar in my backpack with a spare laptop battery, that gets past the Xray in the subway. If ever they lock us up, it can help get you out.

That's gotta be the best pre assembled kit I've seen on the market. You didn't cheap out on anything. The Nalgene is awesome 👌. It's probably an idea to have yourself a topographical map of your area in your kit, too, with a compass and spend time practicing using it. Binoculars are handy as are some flairs. But this kit is awesome. I have a lot of these tools in my own kit that's contained in my bugout roll.

Ja, something like that, u can use the plastic wrapper of a dressing package. The inside should be sterile. Just tape the sides or leave a side open to vent. Yesterday, a kid at the skate park broke his wrist. I had nothing of use in my bag, except a bandana. Then thinking, a rolled up magazine could be used as a split? Anyway, use what u have. Don't toss the crutches in the closet.😅😅😅😅

Good stuff! I have been doing major lifestyle changes for the last 50+ years and watch prepper videos for tips. Here are a couple of my own. Get used to eating a more varied diet which is lower on the food chain. Currently, I grow a lot of our own food and we are now retired in southern France. Sweet corn is a good food to grow and you can grind the dried kernels for cornmeal to make corn bread and polenta. Get off the obsession with wheat. I grow wheat, rye and bucwheat which I scythe and hand thresh, but I don't attempt to grow enough for all our needs. Once we can't get baguettes and croissants, we will default to a low wheat intake. Potatoes and dried beans are our staple crops, but I also grow sunchokes as a survival food. We are flexitarian so that we can eat meat when it is available. When I was a vegetarian, I got sick when I had a meat meal, so now we have a little bit of meat - mostly for flavoring - and are more flexible. Get your body toughened up, down to your core metabolic processes and be mentally tough too. I am universally excoriated as a doomer on social media but I don't care. I give away a lot of food every year and that shuts 'em up.

Great idea, some people don't want anything more than to feel safe. Providing a pre-made bug out bag will get more preps out there for those who know how to use it, lol. I think from a business standpoint, there are many out there that want the security of knowing they have some type of preparedness without diving into the intricacies of what they actually do. Some things, like a poncho and survival blanket, don't require a lot of knowledge to use, and that alone can save a life. Great video Nate, on a few levels.
My BoB has some legit gear and some improvised gear. Outta everything I've got in mine I must recommend you make 2 things, the first is an emergency candle. Yes they do sale emergency candles at certain stores but I would suggest making one, mine is made with a resealable monster energy can, candle wax and a twine wick. The second thing is something to use for storing kindling, I again make use of a resealable monster energy can, this one stuffed with wood shavings, dryer lent and a few sparklers for breaking off the magnesium to help ignite the fire. Again these are just improvised items that I've created and added to my bag. A small compact tackle box is also a great item to have, no need for a rod n reel just grab a sturdy stick or break a limb off a tree or if you can find a soda bottle you can tie a line with a hook and bait around the neck to let hang in the water and another longer piece of line running back to the shore so you can pull it in. No need to fight the fish because it'll tire itself out trying to pull the soda bottle float under instead. In a survival scenario the last thing you'll want to do is waste time and energy trying to set up camp or catch food. shelter is also a top priority so if you can't afford to buy a tent the go buy a tarp, I recommend an 8'x10' minimum
I didn't think I needed a big out bag until this weekend when I suddenly found myself living out of a tent. (Marital issues) I had prepped for bugging in, but never thought about bugging out. Needless to say I had to build a big out bag on the fly.

Good bag to get people started. LOVE that you are very clear how it isn’t the end all of what you should have. No premade kit is. I’m a rural living mama of 6, yes 6. No standard BOB or prep kit is going to work😂. I have to transport what I need, and possibly what’s needed for 2-3 littles, plus be able to tote one of those kids. 😳 needless to say, bugging out for any amount of time on foot is an absolute last resort. Then again, if folks in our area are having to leave, we are probably just screwed anyway.
remember bugging out doesn't always mean wilderness survival, preparing for that is worst case. but I've had to evacuate out of state due to disaster for a week, but we got out with 2 vehicles and went to family where everything was normal. But handling disaster is alot of mindset. I recently took a wilderness first aid class, which taught us how to handle emergencies when EMS isn't coming. I have a large EMS trauma first aid kit because I live in a rural area and have been first on scene at car accidents a few times. But after taking that class, I could replace half of that kit with 6 rolls of gauze and 6 triangle bandages, the big kit is still in my car but I now have the knowledge and confidence to be able to improvise more things with more basic tools. In an emergency if you can have more convience things, it makes it easier, but we can do more with less than we imagine.
I update/change around my B O B 5 or 6 times a year. Living in high desert we get cold, hot, in-between, dry, wet. Mostly dry so I pack as much water (and hydration multiplier) as I can carry. Plus a couple more gallons in my vehicle. Great video ya got here. Thanks.
one thing to include would be a few feet of flexible wire to use with the metal water bottle. if you wrap it around the top, it makes it so you can hang it over a fire and makes it also way easier (and safer) to move on and off a fire.
I have my own Bob and gear x3. 1 for work truck 1 for my daily driver. 1 that is my need to leave home fast bag. I actually have 2 of this one, warmer weather and the cold weather one. I think this bag your offering is a good idea. If your just trying to get home from work, say. Or from somewhere that overnight or 2 days travel. It's a very good start. Good job Nate. I would rather have someone like you putting together a foundation kit and getting good stuff than me trying to find all the stuff I need and having to settle for what I find which may be inferior. Sometimes I just do not know what to get. There is so much to choose from. Is this one better than that one and why? Always depends on the videos I watch. All that gear can be purchased by you at a much cheaper rate. I think that laziness is your issue. This is why Nate is so wealthy, He appeals to people like you.
@@lyellclare9365 laziness has nothing to do with it. It has everything to do with getting good equipment. Yes I’m sure I can find it cheaper but I would have to go here and there to get it. For me it is akin to driving from store to store to save a few bucks. I also have no problem paying a little extra because he put his time and experience in to creating a kit that can be reliable unlike something you would find at Walmart or Amazon.
Don't forget that you can use an HSA for otc meds and first aid supplies!! I have bought eight small zip bags for an on-the-go grab. They all have the same list of things that I bought in bulk and split up: bottle each peroxide and alcohol, several sizes bandages, wrap bandages, gauze, alcohol pads, antacid, emergency blanket, firestarter kit, a flashlight, lighter, gloves, hand/body warmer, ibuprofen, potassium iodide, trash bag, tylenol, wooden pop sticks (to set a finger ot toe), tegaderm, triple antibiotic. It's a lot but a small bag that can just be grabbed right as you walk out the door. I've gotten three backpack/dufflebags to pack with extra clothing, shoestring, dried foods, etc. I haven't made the list for the bigger bags yet, but most will come from this video, I'm sure. I have five more big bags to buy, but even this much makes me feel slightly more prepared ❤
Really good explanation on everything, I agree that people need to find what is going to work best for their personal needs- but you did really well with quality products 👍👍
One thing I never see anyone mention in their bugout bag is a drill. There is a device that the old guys might remember called a yankee drill. It’s basically a small hand held drill that you can use to drill into wood, plastic and very light metals like aluminum, copper, and tin. It would be useful in lots of situations and is only the size of a flashlight. Just my thoughts. I carry one in my bag for an emergency hand drill.
I got one from my grandfather when I was a kid growing up in the Southern tip of Illinois. I have mine tucked in my bug-out bag and attached to the handle of my foldable shovel tool. I can think of many ways they would be useful, and they are light and easily concealed. Excellent recommendation. You can't really lug a cordless drill with you (which everyone seems to swear by today). I won't say I don't have power tools but the operative word is power (or lack of it when you need it).
Really great information for us. I've been prepping for only 5 years. Have lived in rentals and had to keep moving which effected my " dig-in" part. But bugging out. Well, that's scary. But in my novice opinion I think you cover almost everything. Have just bought my own place. So will be prepping like crazy. And, I really enjoy it. It's a great " hobby" for me. But yes, dark times are coming. Wish all you guys the best.
This is an amazing kit! It took me ages to source and gather many of these items for my bag over the last several years. I would’ve loved to have this available back then!
As a UK resident there is little point in "bugging out", where to? This is a small island with very few "wild" type places and those we do have are several hundred miles away from where most of us live. If the worst happens we are all done for as the whole country will be a desert and probably glow in the dark! My bag is just to stop me dying if I get caught out in extreem weather situations while I'm on the road. A few years back we had awful snow and many motorists were caught out on the road with nothing. I drove a camper type vehicle for at least 40 years so I had all I needed within the van. Now I'm older and use a caravan for trips but an SUV to tow it, the car is pretty bare. Being retired and having family dotted all over the country I do a lot of driving in just the SUV. If I go on a trip, with or without the 'van I throw in my bag, it's not intended to last more than a day or so but contains pretty much all I need. A stove and pot, a brew kit, poncho, survival bag, assorted cordage and a "fire kit" in case I run out of stove fuel (I drive a diesel). There are a couple of "edged tools" (they get funny if you call them knives), a small hand axe is to hand but not permanant and a bunch of fruit and grain bars. I need to replace a couple of MREs. A wool blanket and a small folding saw never leave the car (I was once held up for several hours by a tree blown over the road in a gale) and I always fill my water bottles before I leave. There are a few items I plan on adding like a water filter and a hand operated chain saw to replace my wire saw, otherwise I can see a lot of sensible thought going into your bag.
Field inspection, I like it! I appreciate you, you give me the motivation to keep on prepping. I, too, prefer to collect the toughest gear I can get my hands on. My favorite pieces is my WW2 era gear. Even if I don't need it in my lifetime, the gear can be passed down the line.

My get home bag equipment is made to last 3 to 7 days. It's meant to get me home from 15 to 60 miles away. My BoB has better quality. I'm fine if I can bug in. But man..building up my Bug out skills
Would've gone with a Sawyer Mini, but either works. The main point is pre-filtering, and cleaning. The bags I started making, I always include the SAS survival manual. Tiny little book packed with information.
Pretty good bare bones bag bro. If I was just starting out I'd buy it. Of course like you I have around 4 to 5 grand into mine. But that took years and thousands trying out different stuff. Time isn't on our side anymore. So this is a great start up bag for sure

A lot of people are waking up now to the awful situation that we are all in. Some of us who have been awake for a number of years have already put together bags and packets and crates and trunks etc. full of supplies. Just in case. I actually have one that’s like a small suitcase and I Collett my “just in case case “:-). Glad that you made 1 million subscribers Nate. I saw you announce it the other day. It just goes to show you that not only is this channel and the videos informational But also practical and entertaining as well. :-) too bad normalisation Norman was eaten. I can tell all you guys that some of the things he has in this bag are actually good products that I have used. Some of them I ended up using in a real emergency situation and they held up pretty well. Interestingly, there are quite a few things out there sold as “survival quote items that are total crap and you really find out what they are made of. Especially when you’re in an emergency situation. I have my own personal kits meant for 24 hours, 48 to 72 hours, 72 to 96 hours, and one that is meant to keep me alive for two weeks or more of course I would have to supplement it And forage and hunt along the way. The bag is it going to save you. It’s just going to keep you alive long enough for you to get your shit together and save yourself. The number one tool that anyone needs for staying alive is situational awareness and skills. Basically your brain. if you’re a brainless idiot, just save yourself and everyone else to trouble. Sit on your balcony or your back porch and have a martini while the world goes up in flames and wait for the fireball blast wave. People don’t have a clue how hard it is to survive in a war time or post event scenario. Even my training in the service probably won’t be enough. You’re going to have to be serious and really really want to stay alive and to keep the people around you alive. It’s going to totally suck for the first few days. Most people have never been pushed this far. A lot of people will snap within the first 72 hours. After that, survivors will come out. Two weeks is the length of time people will have to keep themselves alive. If you make it past that you’re probably going to be OK. Get the kids, but most importantly start learning how to use it right now. If you can’t take a knife and make a skewer or a spear out of a stick or if you can’t make it yourself you need to buy it if you can.
Even though I've known this about him for quite a while I just appreciate the honesty there is never a moment where he is bsing us and people really need to appreciate that because hes doing it for all of us. I won't be buying a pre-done bugout bag (because I already have a lot of the emergency stuff I need & want) but it's really useful to see the products recommended for a bare-bones bugout kit, and it's given me some ideas about how the thinking of how to put one of these together.
That's a decent well thought out bag. The 2 items that are missing are a ensolite sleeping pad and a small tarp, at the price this kit is, including those 2 items in wouldn't raise the price to much.

I worked with a guy that was ex military SOPs trained, learned a lot from that guy, the #1 thing - 'the gear is only as good as the knowledge of the user' #2 ' the more you know the less you need to carry' #3 'either you know the local conditions, or you find someone who does if you want to make it'
Super cheap and multiuse items for a kit: OB brand tampons, vaseline and hand sanitizer. Combine them and you have a firestarter that will start a fire in the winter in the PNW. Each item is super handy on its own for many reasons.
@@47coffee they are also sterile so can be used in some first aid situations. They are pretty absorbent and paired with duct tape can be an important staple.
The biggest problem in my former Bug-Out area, was all those Bears, Cougars and depending on season, Tics. Other than those issues. The location was ideal. Easy to stay hidden. Water and small game was plentiful.
Not exactly how I would have built a base kit, but I do love that someone is finally providing a good foundation with quality gear for people to get started with. Awesome video man.
The bag looks well worth the price. It's just what I want my teenagers bags to look like. I didn't realize that there was a silky saw small enough to fit in a regular sized backpack. At Christmas I bought some things from you to improve my bag. getting this bag for family members isn't in my budget right now but I do appreciate seing what you put in it. I'm temporarily in a wheelchair for the next few months and checking what's in the emergency bags and first aid kits is something I can do. Right now, I'm watching fewer of your "doom and gloom" as you call them videos because it makes me anxious knowing that if SHTF right now instead of leading my family I'm burdening them. I don't know where you'd find it, but if I were you, I'd be prepared to avoid carbs and eat strictly meat, veggies, proteins, and nuts if there was a real emergency.
I'm a prepper and a diabetic. I also work in a pharmacy. There is no good option. Looting will be your only chance. Even if you get some. Insulin is only good for one month out the fridge. Make sure you have a good blood test kit. Batteries for it as well. Give yourself the best chance by knowing your body.

I have worked in tv here in the UK for many years and I can tell you that you are a natural on the camera which is much much harder than most people realise, your presentation style is better than most so called pros!! Well done for a million subs, you truly deserve it for all the hard work, let's just hope the world doesn't go completely down the toilet...but I'm not holding my breath. Psychological preparation is something not covered by many, it's crucial in a full shtf scenario , well worth covering

I once was silly enough to believe I could handle just about anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Then I almost rolled an ATV and didn't even realize I was in shock. But I was, ... Adrenalin too. I was "high" for hours.
Shock, that's big one. Then there's denial, anger, blame, and a whole lot of crap I'm sure I'm not even aware of.

Phycological prep is tough. Sometimes you think your ready for something, but you don't know until your there. I recently underwent a very minor surgery that led to a very minor infection, but kept me down and out, unable to do much for about 2 weeks. By day 3 I was already beyond bored and starting to get stir crazy. By the end of week 1, and the news that the infection would keep me down longer, I was truly depressed. Luckily a few days after that, despite the infection, I was able to start to get around in the garden, walking the neighborhood, etc. But mental preparedness is massive and underrated.

$629! 😮 Luckily I already have my own & it's filled with lots of good stuff. Pretty much what you filled it with. Hand cranked solar powered radio, saw, knife, matches lighter & Ferro Rod, life straw, first aid kit, medicine, rocket stove, stainless steel cups & plates & emergency fold away cutlery, Woolen blanket, emergency food, tent, underwear, identity papers, hat, bug spray, rain coat, rubbish bags, sewing kit. I'm towing a trolley with food, oil, salt, breadboard for preparing meals. ( All light weight ) And carrying my emergency hens in a wire cage! Yes I can carry it & I'm sure I'll discard some things along the way but I'll be damned if I'm going camping forever without all I need! 🐔🐔

I still don't understand the fascination with toilet paper tablets. You can only compress paper so much and you're paying for a lot of air... Just use a normal toilet paper roll, 3 quarters the space and literally 1/40th of the cost.
Toilet paper tablets are only for ultralight backpacking short trips.
No kitchen sink? How are you going to wash up after cooking? Just kidding. I live in Asia and I just realized, I don't need a bugout bag. I carry a sleeping pad and sleeping bag in my luggage. Large battery, flashlight, small knife, photocopies of ID, cash, knowing multiple languages, is all you need. And multiple visas, residences around the world. Even in the countryside here it's full of houses and restaurants, there is no wilderness like in Canada. You must be able to negotiate smoothly and get to safety, don't worry about food and water. There are lots of isolated pre-industrial societies, just get yourself to one of those, rice paddies, grow chickens, that's how you survive. The thing is you hop on a train, bus, airplane, everything gets taken away, you can't carry a battery, you can't carry a knife, or lighter, matches. I have a small box opener on my keychain, nobody notices that. And I carry a small crowbar in my backpack with a spare laptop battery, that gets past the Xray in the subway. If ever they lock us up, it can help get you out.

That's gotta be the best pre assembled kit I've seen on the market. You didn't cheap out on anything. The Nalgene is awesome 👌. It's probably an idea to have yourself a topographical map of your area in your kit, too, with a compass and spend time practicing using it. Binoculars are handy as are some flairs. But this kit is awesome. I have a lot of these tools in my own kit that's contained in my bugout roll.

Ja, something like that, u can use the plastic wrapper of a dressing package. The inside should be sterile. Just tape the sides or leave a side open to vent. Yesterday, a kid at the skate park broke his wrist. I had nothing of use in my bag, except a bandana. Then thinking, a rolled up magazine could be used as a split? Anyway, use what u have. Don't toss the crutches in the closet.😅😅😅😅

Good stuff! I have been doing major lifestyle changes for the last 50+ years and watch prepper videos for tips. Here are a couple of my own. Get used to eating a more varied diet which is lower on the food chain. Currently, I grow a lot of our own food and we are now retired in southern France. Sweet corn is a good food to grow and you can grind the dried kernels for cornmeal to make corn bread and polenta. Get off the obsession with wheat. I grow wheat, rye and bucwheat which I scythe and hand thresh, but I don't attempt to grow enough for all our needs. Once we can't get baguettes and croissants, we will default to a low wheat intake. Potatoes and dried beans are our staple crops, but I also grow sunchokes as a survival food. We are flexitarian so that we can eat meat when it is available. When I was a vegetarian, I got sick when I had a meat meal, so now we have a little bit of meat - mostly for flavoring - and are more flexible. Get your body toughened up, down to your core metabolic processes and be mentally tough too. I am universally excoriated as a doomer on social media but I don't care. I give away a lot of food every year and that shuts 'em up.

Great idea, some people don't want anything more than to feel safe. Providing a pre-made bug out bag will get more preps out there for those who know how to use it, lol. I think from a business standpoint, there are many out there that want the security of knowing they have some type of preparedness without diving into the intricacies of what they actually do. Some things, like a poncho and survival blanket, don't require a lot of knowledge to use, and that alone can save a life. Great video Nate, on a few levels.
My BoB has some legit gear and some improvised gear. Outta everything I've got in mine I must recommend you make 2 things, the first is an emergency candle. Yes they do sale emergency candles at certain stores but I would suggest making one, mine is made with a resealable monster energy can, candle wax and a twine wick. The second thing is something to use for storing kindling, I again make use of a resealable monster energy can, this one stuffed with wood shavings, dryer lent and a few sparklers for breaking off the magnesium to help ignite the fire. Again these are just improvised items that I've created and added to my bag. A small compact tackle box is also a great item to have, no need for a rod n reel just grab a sturdy stick or break a limb off a tree or if you can find a soda bottle you can tie a line with a hook and bait around the neck to let hang in the water and another longer piece of line running back to the shore so you can pull it in. No need to fight the fish because it'll tire itself out trying to pull the soda bottle float under instead. In a survival scenario the last thing you'll want to do is waste time and energy trying to set up camp or catch food. shelter is also a top priority so if you can't afford to buy a tent the go buy a tarp, I recommend an 8'x10' minimum
I didn't think I needed a big out bag until this weekend when I suddenly found myself living out of a tent. (Marital issues) I had prepped for bugging in, but never thought about bugging out. Needless to say I had to build a big out bag on the fly.

Good bag to get people started. LOVE that you are very clear how it isn’t the end all of what you should have. No premade kit is. I’m a rural living mama of 6, yes 6. No standard BOB or prep kit is going to work😂. I have to transport what I need, and possibly what’s needed for 2-3 littles, plus be able to tote one of those kids. 😳 needless to say, bugging out for any amount of time on foot is an absolute last resort. Then again, if folks in our area are having to leave, we are probably just screwed anyway.
remember bugging out doesn't always mean wilderness survival, preparing for that is worst case. but I've had to evacuate out of state due to disaster for a week, but we got out with 2 vehicles and went to family where everything was normal. But handling disaster is alot of mindset. I recently took a wilderness first aid class, which taught us how to handle emergencies when EMS isn't coming. I have a large EMS trauma first aid kit because I live in a rural area and have been first on scene at car accidents a few times. But after taking that class, I could replace half of that kit with 6 rolls of gauze and 6 triangle bandages, the big kit is still in my car but I now have the knowledge and confidence to be able to improvise more things with more basic tools. In an emergency if you can have more convience things, it makes it easier, but we can do more with less than we imagine.
I update/change around my B O B 5 or 6 times a year. Living in high desert we get cold, hot, in-between, dry, wet. Mostly dry so I pack as much water (and hydration multiplier) as I can carry. Plus a couple more gallons in my vehicle. Great video ya got here. Thanks.
one thing to include would be a few feet of flexible wire to use with the metal water bottle. if you wrap it around the top, it makes it so you can hang it over a fire and makes it also way easier (and safer) to move on and off a fire.
A fish mouth spreader works as well in that capacity.

I have my own Bob and gear x3. 1 for work truck 1 for my daily driver. 1 that is my need to leave home fast bag. I actually have 2 of this one, warmer weather and the cold weather one.

@@lyellclare9365 laziness has nothing to do with it. It has everything to do with getting good equipment. Yes I’m sure I can find it cheaper but I would have to go here and there to get it. For me it is akin to driving from store to store to save a few bucks.
I also have no problem paying a little extra because he put his time and experience in to creating a kit that can be reliable unlike something you would find at Walmart or Amazon.

I have bought eight small zip bags for an on-the-go grab. They all have the same list of things that I bought in bulk and split up: bottle each peroxide and alcohol, several sizes bandages, wrap bandages, gauze, alcohol pads, antacid, emergency blanket, firestarter kit, a flashlight, lighter, gloves, hand/body warmer, ibuprofen, potassium iodide, trash bag, tylenol, wooden pop sticks (to set a finger ot toe), tegaderm, triple antibiotic. It's a lot but a small bag that can just be grabbed right as you walk out the door.
I've gotten three backpack/dufflebags to pack with extra clothing, shoestring, dried foods, etc. I haven't made the list for the bigger bags yet, but most will come from this video, I'm sure. I have five more big bags to buy, but even this much makes me feel slightly more prepared ❤

I've got that same knife and it is very decent quality to price ratio, plus it floats. Stays sharp decently for stainless. Good choice!
One thing I never see anyone mention in their bugout bag is a drill. There is a device that the old guys might remember called a yankee drill. It’s basically a small hand held drill that you can use to drill into wood, plastic and very light metals like aluminum, copper, and tin. It would be useful in lots of situations and is only the size of a flashlight. Just my thoughts. I carry one in my bag for an emergency hand drill.
I got one from my grandfather when I was a kid growing up in the Southern tip of Illinois. I have mine tucked in my bug-out bag and attached to the handle of my foldable shovel tool. I can think of many ways they would be useful, and they are light and easily concealed. Excellent recommendation. You can't really lug a cordless drill with you (which everyone seems to swear by today). I won't say I don't have power tools but the operative word is power (or lack of it when you need it).

This is an amazing kit! It took me ages to source and gather many of these items for my bag over the last several years. I would’ve loved to have this available back then!
As a UK resident there is little point in "bugging out", where to? This is a small island with very few "wild" type places and those we do have are several hundred miles away from where most of us live. If the worst happens we are all done for as the whole country will be a desert and probably glow in the dark! My bag is just to stop me dying if I get caught out in extreem weather situations while I'm on the road. A few years back we had awful snow and many motorists were caught out on the road with nothing. I drove a camper type vehicle for at least 40 years so I had all I needed within the van. Now I'm older and use a caravan for trips but an SUV to tow it, the car is pretty bare. Being retired and having family dotted all over the country I do a lot of driving in just the SUV. If I go on a trip, with or without the 'van I throw in my bag, it's not intended to last more than a day or so but contains pretty much all I need. A stove and pot, a brew kit, poncho, survival bag, assorted cordage and a "fire kit" in case I run out of stove fuel (I drive a diesel). There are a couple of "edged tools" (they get funny if you call them knives), a small hand axe is to hand but not permanant and a bunch of fruit and grain bars. I need to replace a couple of MREs. A wool blanket and a small folding saw never leave the car (I was once held up for several hours by a tree blown over the road in a gale) and I always fill my water bottles before I leave. There are a few items I plan on adding like a water filter and a hand operated chain saw to replace my wire saw, otherwise I can see a lot of sensible thought going into your bag.

I appreciate you, you give me the motivation to keep on prepping. I, too, prefer to collect the toughest gear I can get my hands on. My favorite pieces is my WW2 era gear. Even if I don't need it in my lifetime, the gear can be passed down the line.

A lot of people are waking up now to the awful situation that we are all in. Some of us who have been awake for a number of years have already put together bags and packets and crates and trunks etc. full of supplies. Just in case. I actually have one that’s like a small suitcase and I Collett my “just in case case “:-). Glad that you made 1 million subscribers Nate. I saw you announce it the other day. It just goes to show you that not only is this channel and the videos informational But also practical and entertaining as well. :-) too bad normalisation Norman was eaten. I can tell all you guys that some of the things he has in this bag are actually good products that I have used. Some of them I ended up using in a real emergency situation and they held up pretty well. Interestingly, there are quite a few things out there sold as “survival quote items that are total crap and you really find out what they are made of. Especially when you’re in an emergency situation. I have my own personal kits meant for 24 hours, 48 to 72 hours, 72 to 96 hours, and one that is meant to keep me alive for two weeks or more of course I would have to supplement it And forage and hunt along the way. The bag is it going to save you. It’s just going to keep you alive long enough for you to get your shit together and save yourself. The number one tool that anyone needs for staying alive is situational awareness and skills. Basically your brain. if you’re a brainless idiot, just save yourself and everyone else to trouble. Sit on your balcony or your back porch and have a martini while the world goes up in flames and wait for the fireball blast wave. People don’t have a clue how hard it is to survive in a war time or post event scenario. Even my training in the service probably won’t be enough. You’re going to have to be serious and really really want to stay alive and to keep the people around you alive. It’s going to totally suck for the first few days. Most people have never been pushed this far. A lot of people will snap within the first 72 hours. After that, survivors will come out. Two weeks is the length of time people will have to keep themselves alive. If you make it past that you’re probably going to be OK. Get the kids, but most importantly start learning how to use it right now. If you can’t take a knife and make a skewer or a spear out of a stick or if you can’t make it yourself you need to buy it if you can.

This is a good video for the beginner prepper. A little late in the game but just in time for someone that can dump some cash in it quickly
Super cheap and multiuse items for a kit: OB brand tampons, vaseline and hand sanitizer. Combine them and you have a firestarter that will start a fire in the winter in the PNW. Each item is super handy on its own for many reasons.
Good idea with the tampons. Already compacted for travel and lasts longer when you pick each one apart into 3 or 4 cotton ball sized clumps.
@@47coffee they are also sterile so can be used in some first aid situations. They are pretty absorbent and paired with duct tape can be an important staple.

The biggest problem in my former Bug-Out area, was all those Bears, Cougars and depending on season, Tics. Other than those issues. The location was ideal. Easy to stay hidden.
Water and small game was plentiful.

The bag looks well worth the price. It's just what I want my teenagers bags to look like. I didn't realize that there was a silky saw small enough to fit in a regular sized backpack. At Christmas I bought some things from you to improve my bag. getting this bag for family members isn't in my budget right now but I do appreciate seing what you put in it. I'm temporarily in a wheelchair for the next few months and checking what's in the emergency bags and first aid kits is something I can do. Right now, I'm watching fewer of your "doom and gloom" as you call them videos because it makes me anxious knowing that if SHTF right now instead of leading my family I'm burdening them. But thank you for all your content.

I am a senior and have no destination for a safe bug out. So, if worse comes to worse, I'm still staying put. So, I'm hoping & praying it won't come to that. But always good info!
Hot damn, if I didn't already have most of these things, I would trust and buy this bag! Those cards are better than Texas holdem but you should pack those ones too.

Great bag you've put together, Nate. One important addition would be activated carbon/charcoal. SO IMPORTANT! This could save someone's life in the event of food poisoning or bad water.

My current set up is worth more than 5k easy so I’m glad I started a while back. I’m now working on a hummer and a trailer set up. I’m not sure if you have looked into something like this. It’s going to be my bug out mobile command centre. I got over two years food in it, a wood stove, bunk beds, solar and batteries.

I'm a arborist and I've had my silky for 5yrs I work everyday being I'm always cutting down trees and trimming. They are great saws
My main concern is how im going to get insulin when the shtf. Any ideas?
I don't know where you'd find it, but if I were you, I'd be prepared to avoid carbs and eat strictly meat, veggies, proteins, and nuts if there was a real emergency.
I'm a prepper and a diabetic. I also work in a pharmacy. There is no good option. Looting will be your only chance. Even if you get some. Insulin is only good for one month out the fridge. Make sure you have a good blood test kit. Batteries for it as well. Give yourself the best chance by knowing your body.
