  • A friend of mine asked, "Would love a video of you showing all your current certifications and which ones you think are the most useful in the job market." So, I answer his question and talk about whether getting certified is worth it or not.

Everyone's background is different, take a look at the job descriptions and make the call if a certificate is right for you.

I'm interested in getting this certification as well. I saw that the exam is open book. Could you share what you prepared in advance for the exam?

@@kumarteja5564 I have not heard of the specific "SRE Foundation" certification, but I did take a brief look on their site just now. Ultimately, do what you think is best for yourself. I am finishing the "Developing a Google SRE Culture" on Coursera, and I believe that I got more information from that versus the curriculum shared for the "SRE Foundation" certification.
Getting certified in "DevOps" or "SRE" is sometimes questionable because these are larger roles and processes that encompass a variety of skills. If you use AWS or Google Cloud, I would suggest looking into the "AWS SysOps" and Google's "Cloud DevOps Engineer" as I believe these will provide a more marketable certification.
At some point, I may do a deeper dive into this certificate and do a video on it for everyone.

@@randomthoughtstech thanks a lot for your advice man! Will definitely look into the Coursera certification next. I'm doing the IT automation with Python certificate right now and loving it so far.

Yup I agree with @random thoughts tech, the reason behind the SRE Foundation Cert. was to understand the mindset of SRE and the various parameters or approach to follow as an SRE and trust me its huge, also you get to learn lots of technical jargons in SRE world. And yup btw am too into Coursera’s automation with python🙂

I would get certs just to force myself to study new topics, and it looks nice on resume/LinkedIn. So win/win.
