Fun fact: It's more durable than a Sig due to being all steel construction. Also makes it a boat anchor. I have one in 40S&W, and I love it! Mine was $271 after tax. I probably could have haggled for a lower price, but the dealer also threw in a 50 round box of 180 grain Winchester FMJ ammo for no extra charge. Also found a site that sells factory original mags for it for $30 each instead of the cringe-inducing $70-$90 price you'll see on Gunbroker or other sites.
I have an Astra A-75 chambered in 45acp. The gun is very similar to the Sig. P229 40 S&W I carried at the PD. The gun is of good quality, well built and all steel. The mags are all metal with a sturdy metal follower. I've found the gun to be extremely reliable, very accurate, and easy to conceal/carry. Can't beat it for $300.
Solid steel weapon, well made, great hide away or car gun. Spanish company is long gone, parts are to find, do not use +P or P++ or hollow points ammo. Great 9mm basic target gun. Do not dry fire, use snap-caps to test fire. Parts are pricey & may be hard to get. For that price, excellent value.
Why not hollow points? I have this gun as a home defense gun in my wood cabin. So it is only suited for fmj ammo? I don't get it, i'd expect it'd be safe to shoot hp and even +p out of all steel gun that weights 2.5 lbs.
What's the difference between A-90 and A-100? Thanks. Great vid. Local pawnshop had a 17 round Astra A-90 , 9 mil. mag. in a pan for years. There must have been 30 different mags. in pan. I knew the mag was for an Astra A-90 .I offered $5 for it and and got it $5 out the door.
Just asking if you knew or could make a video how to reinstall the ejector on the a100 would really appreciate the help and the information appreciate your knowledge and help thank you in advance have a wonderful day keep up the Great videos
Looks like a Beretta or Taurus PT92 style mag, probably be able to mod them to work. I modified some surplus Beretta mags to work in another "Sig clone", the Zastava CZ999, I just had to make a new mag latch hole in them.
Here we are in 2023. No more $200 Astra prices. Looks exactly like a sig p220. Mags still hard to find. Got mine just yesterday in a on line auction. I was very surprised when I got the gun. In the original box the gun looks unfired made over 30 years ago and was probably sitting in some ones safe for decades. Can’t wait to shoot it. Side note. 2023 is not friendly to you tubers. Chanels getting their gun videos de monetized and or shut down. Can’t even show a mag being inserted into a gun. That’s deemed inappropriate. What crazy times
Do you think it is safe to shoot jhp and +p ammo out of astra a80, a90 and a100? I read somewhere it is not, but i wonder why not since the gun is all steel and heavy as a sin?
I think people say that because as technology improves, including in bullets and powders, people push the the boundaries of performance out of their cartridges. Being that those were not commonplace on the market at some point, people can assume older guns weren't built with the expectation to tolerate rounds at those higher pressures. It may handle them just fine, but I don't have an intimate knowledge of each part and where there might be weaknesses. Regardless, more pressure equals more wear and tear than standard pressure rounds regardless if a gun is capable of handling them or not. Being this gun has been discontinued, parts are difficult to come by and some times cost prohibitive, so shortening or ending the life span of a part may end the life of the gun if you can't replace it.
Jeff Zachritz Wrong. Look at the front of the slide where the guide rod runs. It is much longer than a P229 like a P226. The front of the slide looks nothing like a P229. I don't even think there was a Sig P229 when the A-100 first hit the market back in the late 80s or early 90s. But there was a Sig P226. I also know back then the 226 was a double stack while the 229 when it first came out was a single stack. Capacity has all changed since back then with Sig. The A-100 is a double stack. My original mag is a 17 shot mag. I also have a Clinton era capacity ban mag that is only a 10 shot. storage04.dropshots.com/photos6000/photos/949785/20170110/b_174607.jpg
what about it is obvious that it is not up to sig quality? are you randomly spuing your bias or have you seen or know something about it that makes it inferior?
Hey I'm in your area if you ever consider selling any guns let me know completely legally of course through a FFL love what you're doing I do the same thing haha cheap guns all the way
I'm outta Kansas now, between school, Covid, and moving it's really put a damper on uploads. I'll get back to it sometime! A lot of good places to find cheap guns out here 😉

@@couchninjawarriors6072 thanks for your reply.
I've got an Astra A-100. From experience, most JHP feeds fine, The Astra manual makes clear that it is not engineered for +P ammunition.
It looks and is configured like a P229, rather than a P226.

This are great guns this factory used to make pistols for Hitler., German military.,all steel no plastic !!!
Not a sig clone ..check the top of the hammer dragging on the slide.. and the extractor full of dirt ..

It's heavier, the finish isn't as good, when you disassemble it you can see the finish work isn't as finished.
