- Опубліковано 12 лип 2022
- This is the Hraunfossar waterfall but the water found it's way under a huge lava field where this formation came into being. It's situated in Borgarfjörður west Iceland, around 90 min. drive from Reykjavik.

Thanks a lot and yes I just love this place, so strange and unusual formation :) and welcome
I agree.
Greetings from another land of lava, southern Idaho, USA. Similar situation here, the Lost River disappears under lava and re-emerges at Thousand Springs, many miles away.
Thank you for your videos, from a lava fan.
Thanks for sharing..lava...fantastic photo subject from so many angles and ages
If I had never found your channel, I never would have known that such a cool waterfall exists. Of course there must be rivers under lava fields; one just never thinks of them. :)
Beautiful music, lovely place to film. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and always welcome :)
OUTSTANDING ! ! !
Please show more of this river and waterfall system.
This video will be saved and put on repeat with shots used as a screensaver.

Oh my. Breathtaking.
Gylfi, be on guard -- your hobby now places you as one of the top-quality cinematic videographers. If that concerns you, take the quality down a few notches; down to the "damn good" level.
Inspiring as always :) I got some really good shots today, on my way to Reykjavík to pick up a new editing computer, I'm just starting and always welcome :)

A Thousand Thanks for sharing this gem of Iceland❣️😍 I love to tour your beautiful country with you 🤗😁❣️
Thank you too❣️😍
Just stumbled upon your channel and this has to be the most beautiful of the countless beautiful settings I've seen. I went to Iceland in September 2002, for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday and what a wonderful experience it was. Your country is not what I expected to be honest. First of all, I got off the plane at Reykjavik wearing a huge bubble jacket expecting it to be freezing. It was actually 3°C warmer than London! In the car from the airport to our hotel, I stared out of the window confused at the "moonscape" countryside, lava fields that looked green and and absolutely nothing else, no trees, nothing... simply barren. I was almost sure that we'd got on the wrong flight and ended up in Greenland?! Apparently, they (whoever 'they' are) got Iceland and Greenland's names mixed up because Iceland is green and Greenland is ice?! 🤔
Anyway, back to my point. We did a few sightseeing tours and got to see some amazing places like the geysers, Kerid crater the breathtaking Gulfoss waterfall. I remember the smell of rotten eggs when travelling from one place to another, which on occasion became eyewatering! A visit to the Blue Lagoon is something that everyone should experience in their lifetime, that was absolutely wonderful. I recall us walking off 1 continental plate on to another which was cool! I sadly missed this gem that you have kindly filmed and uploaded for our viewing pleasure. I hope one day to visit your country again. I'd love to see a volcano erupting and also experience the tremors created as a result of it.
So thank you for the footage, liked and subscribed. I look forward to seeing your uploads 😁👍
Thank you very much for sharing this and lets hope you can visit us again, and greetings from Iceland :)
Currently on holiday from the UK in your amazing country, Gylfi. We're doing the glacier cave tour tomorrow at Langjokull and now I'm thinking that we need to see this very strange waterfall. Thanks for all your excellent videos - they really do educate and entertain! 😊
Wow, just breathtaking beautiful! I miss Iceland! I would love to visit again someday!
You should😁 welcome to Iceland
Spectacular! Nice video
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks like the streams of fire coming out of the volcano crater walls last year, just not as hot as them
Yes it's still hot there, might just as well start again
Beautiful 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Lava waterfalls, now my number one Wonder of the World, totally stunning.
Video quality Wow ….. feel like I was flying & seeing with my own eyes, experience of a lifetime.
Thank you
Many thanks!
Beautiful video and music!!! Thank you for sharing your amazing land with us. Be safe.
Thank you! You too!
Beautiful, beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
In the United States of America, on the border between Washington State and Oregon State is the river gorge of the Columbia River. Rainwater falls on top of the flood basalt, seeps into the cracks, and when it meets the gorge, shoots out with force…incredible to see.
Thanks Gylfi, for sharing your amazing country with us. Incredible drone footage. I am in love with this country of yours, it continues to surprise me. ❤❤❤
My pleasure :) I'm just starting :) and very welcome, as always :)
Amazzzzzing!
Welcome
Coming to Iceland (again) in 5 weeks 🥰
Welcome to Iceland :)
I visited Hraunfossar last September - very impressive watching all these little waterfalls emerging from underneath the lava surface and into the river. Some spectacular rapids, too - I wonder if anyone's tried shooting the rapids here?
I’ve been there. Wonderfull…
Thanks for visiting :)
@@JustIcelandic I will come back on day... including the west fjords.. good memories 👌🏻
Beautiful footage! We were there in June 2021 and were amazed. Difficult to photograph, even with a DSLR, but my husband did his best ;-) We loved the overview drone views!
Yes a drone is the only way to capture this, and thanks for visiting :)
Breathtaking!
Thanks 😊
Another gorgeous video. You have convince me to get a drone.
Go for it!
The waterfall looks amazing but equally amazing his how much greenery there is, im used to the alien world landscape scenes lol...
Great shots. We’re going to Iceland in 5 days. Research says ice land is 95% drone approved.
Bringing it to see what we can’t see 🤷♂️
Thanks for sharing, good work 👍

Beautiful
Thank you

Thank you! 😊
🙂 Nothing to say.
It speaks for itself.

Great shots of the river but totally lacking information about the lava field. When was it created etc.?
It's here :) ua-cam.com/video/vrfpdzVTW3c/v-deo.html

Hej Gylfi. how can I get in contact with you? I want to ask you about a guided tour in Iceland, if you are available. I'm a photographer and plan to do a tour to Iceland. If you see this please respond. Appreciated!

What kind of fish are in that beautiful river
Salmon and trout :) veidiheimar.is/en/veidisvaedi/hvita-brennan/
Beautiful footage, however, I have a love/hate relationship with drones! No question one can get stunning shots! Unfortunately, some shots come at the expense of ruining a hikers day by being buzzed by a drone! In the U.S. drones are banned in all National Parks and many state parks as well. As a result, I sold my drone...damn! I simply got to the point that I didn't want ruin someone's outdoor experience.
I understand, the thing is that Icelanders buy plenty of drones, but don't use them that much for real photography, it's more like a play thing, but many tourist bring them with them and that's when we they can interrupt others, unfortunately. I might have stepped on the line a few times, but I'm good at finding time to shot without tourists as well, and that is what I prefer so it's a bit tricky to bypass potential problems, but manageable :)
Does the water flow through old lava tubes...?
I don't think so, it found a way under the lava field
What's weird?
