Well said Terry he was superb mate years ahead of his time with his technique, accuracy, defence and the best jabber of all time imo, Usyk is the modern day equivalent. Respect to Mr Conteh.👍💪🥊
Watching this excellent video for the upteenth time i've noticed the marked difference between the way Conteh went through the gears in his peak years and his more methodical approach later in his career as his athletic skills went into decline.
A real shame, such natural wasted talent, could've achieved so much more. Seem to recall something about management fallout, picking wrong fights, brittle hands, nightlife etc. But he did reach the top, so full credit to one of our most gifted world champions. Good to see he's still fit and successful today too. John Conteh World Champ!
Lopez is Conteh around his peak though he had not fought for 14 months. He was past his best when he fought Saad, but came close in the 1st fight. He was a shell by the time of the return. He liked a good time outside the ring hence he retired at 29.
badass vid, i noticed there is no highlights for Lamon Brewster on the tube. This is shame because Brewster is one of the slickest most badass, Mcgirt style fighters out there.
A great boxer, fantastic jab which set up great, fast and accurate combinations, great footwork which put him in a good position to attack or used defensively to avoid punches, wonderul head movement to evade punches, top class. There was talk for a while John Conteh would move up to heavyweight to fight Muhammad Ali, Ali even considered the fight, never happened of course. John Conteh fighting at around 200 pounds with similar speed to what he had at light heavyweight could have caused Ali some trouble.
Great tribute to the skills of a sublime technician. I recently read Conteh's trainer George Francis's autobiography. It provides a fascinating insight into their relationship.
brilliant once again mate, perhaps the best british fighter since ww2 at his peak which was all to brief. as for great jabs check out ike quartey howard winstone or ken buchanan. got a few more suggestions for your fantasy fights mate tell me where to go if you like becoming obsessed here goes. paquiau v pryor , zarate v canizales or jofre , terry norris v emile griffiths, ggg v julian jackson ,jc chavez v carlos ortiz, A ward v conteh or charles, chitalada v r lopez, toney v hagler, k tzu v crawford, hamed v sadler, lomachenko v arguello, hoko v b chacon ,w gomez v rigondeaux , monzon v calzaghe and frazier v holyfield. sorry mate like i say could go on for days being a fantasy matchmaker.
Definitely some good suggestions in there. I'm currently working on a Chocolatito vs Arbachakov video so once that's done I'll take those ideas into consideration soon for sure. I've got videos of all the great jabbers you mentioned and I do agree, they were great.
Larry Holmes and Sonny Liston, it's too close to call for me but they had the best jabs I've ever seen. Foreman had a great one during his comeback also.
One of the best jabs of all time! I decided to make a new Conteh highlight as my other one was taken down due to copyright issues.
That double jab :D
haNZAgod who do u think has the best jab of all time?
There have been so many but the 2 I usually narrow it down to are Sonny Liston and Larry Holmes.
i have a question hanza whos your favourite currently active boxer
Gennady Golovkin. I've got a video of my top 15 mate: ua-cam.com/video/3qtCkTS8Vu0/v-deo.html
Absolute genius who doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

Great observation..
really well put..
I can't fault cinteh in his peak years.
how many with more ability ?
An excellent fighter was Conteh. Great vid. Gonna start working on my double jab now! Cheers Hanza

One of his opponents described his jab as like being poked in the face with a broom handle. OUCH.
Lol
@@joaoii1082 😂😂😂😂
Timing's incredible. Nice vid!
Thanks yet again for making me aware of a great fighter of whom I was unaware hitherto!
I know. I can't WAIT to watch this dude's fights with Saad Muhammad and Yaqui Lopez.
I didn't know people still used the word "hitherto". Only time I've seen that word was in Dracula, which was written about 200 years ago!

Cool video and great music, John was a master boxer and a incredible athlete 🥊
One of the best jabs and technique in the light heavyweight division. Looks like a big mantequilla Nápoles
YES, Conteh was a "masterful technician"..but he could GET DOWN and SLUG with the best of them!!
Thanks for posting this!
Wow! Double and Triple jabs. Not seen even among boxing's elite today.
That's so true, I wish we had guys like Conteh fighting today.
I was about to write the same thing. Even tripe jabs to the body. Amazing all accurate and effective.
badass vid, i noticed there is no highlights for Lamon Brewster on the tube. This is shame because Brewster is one of the slickest most badass, Mcgirt style fighters out there.
Hmm well I could make a Brewster highlight, I'll have to see if there's enough of his fights in good quality around.
Conteh was pure class he could box, and he could fight, and take you out with either hand, it was partying and drugs ruined him simple as.

brilliant
JOHN WAS JUST SO GOOD, IN HIS PRIME.
British Legend
This man has excellent footwork and accuracy.

I’m reading it now ! I mention of conteh’s alleged use of Columbia’s marching powder mind!
Fucking loving this🙌
John "The Real deal" Contehfield

John Conteh vs Harold Johnson would have been the most technical fight at 175. Who would have won that fight?
could you make a video on making a highlights video..
How long does it normally take you.
It depends on what the video is and which fighter, it's hard to give you a specific time because it's dependent on a few different things.
👍
My mum used to go out playing space invaders with him. My dad didn’t like it. Locked her up in the flat for two weeks. Haha
What's the song?
RJD2 - Clean Living
Great job haNZAgod! Song?
RJD2 - Clean Living
AggelosMusic clean living rjd2
Thanks!!
Somewhat obscure request. Could you do a Kirk Johnson vid???
great jab indeed. who s got the best you think ?
Larry Holmes and Sonny Liston, it's too close to call for me but they had the best jabs I've ever seen. Foreman had a great one during his comeback also.
haNZAgod Liston, huh?
Definitely had one of the best jabs in Heavyweight history bud, it's common knowledge at this point at least to most people from what I understand.
Antonin Deburge apparently Liston knocked dudes out with his jab! 👊
andijw79 gotta study this. thks
Conteh could still earn a,fortune with that sexy left .. £10 ph on Matthew St doors
I know John Conteh's brother Silly Conteh
