The scene that really moved me was when Korey found out his sister, Marci, passed and he was going off about how no gave a f*ck about him. Then the officer, Robert, hugged him.
I definitely shed a thug tear when he was on the bench talking about “I can’t read very well... what does this have to do with my case” amazing acting 🗣🗣🗣
M. Davis young salad that’s not possible in the comments but he was in the video plus if you watch the actual mini series on Netflix’s you’ll know what I’m talking about
And he yelled at the prosecutor YOU SAID I WOULD GO HOME! YOU SAID I WOULD GO HOME! AND ran towards her. Did anyone catch that..... Literally he went to the station to support his friend and didnt come home for YEARS!
That’s why he had his own episode. I was wondering the first 3 episodes why he wasn’t in them. They kept mentioning (imagine what korey is going through) and I’m like okay show it?? Then the 4th episode came and I understood. Insane episode.
Nah episode 4 had me bawling had to pause like 3 times. I ABSOLUTELY loved the fact that Jarrell Jerome played the young and older version of Korey. It felt like they did it to show the youth that Korey still had all those years because he never got to experience that transition to adulthood.
I agree 8million each is peanuts esp. after you deduct taxes and lawyers' fees. But truth be told no amount of money will EVER repay what those boys lost in the years they were in prison. Korey esp. as he was repeatedly beaten, stabbed and sexually abused for 14 years! The best thing would be for everyone that played a role in this gross injustice should face lengthy jail sentences with no parole and lose everything they have.
When kory said he not going to his parole hearing he maxing out if they can’t listen to his truth that was so powerful I feel like at that moment he showed his strength the most you have to be a strong person to do that
the scene when antron said to korey, you wouldve never been in this position, had you went home and not went to the station with yusef, that spoke volumes to me because korey thought of loyalty first,i wish yall would've spoke on that scene to,this review was everything
But if Korey was not arrested, the four others will still be marked as rapist. He did nothing but he was the one who set them free. God has ways to do things that we cannot understand.
Angele AKOTEGNON That’s So True,They All Had It The Worst Being Behind Bars But Something About Korey Just Breaks My Heart,His Episode Had Me On The Verge Of Tears,He Was Genuinely A Boy Who Was Loyal To His Friend & I Have The Upmost Respect For Him & The Rest Of The Men Who Suffered This💯💯
@jill scottman it happened in episode 2... before Korey went to pretrial and he saw the other boys for the first time. They were explaining to him what pretrial was and Antron or Kevin said it....
Sorry Monique.. Boycott over Netflix gets my respect for allowing such a worthy story to be told the correct way .. Awesome job. Emmy for guy that played kory wise.
An amazing docuseries, that deserves so many awards!! Jherrel Jerome deserve every award there is, he so talented ! My heart broke for those men. Perfect Review , whole9✨🔥
The part that hurt is definitely when Corey Wise asked for a kiss from the girl and knowing he never had any sexual experience but he’s now a grown man in prison and only thinking about possibly his first kiss
They didn’t need a 5th...They used him because they knew that he was 16...His mother wasn’t around so they could interrogate him without a parent. That’s why they beat him as soon as they got him into the room....Korey Wise has the spirit and courage of a warrior.
Part 4 made me cry....that part made me feel what the actor (Korey Wise) was feeling. The flashbacks and the "second chance" type of day dreaming that Korey was giving the scene was phenomenal! Give that young man and award NOW 👏🏽 EVERYONE should watch this at least once. Great job to the whole project and Netflix for putting this on their platform too. #Avaduvernayisthegoatoffilm
There's a part of me that wants to rewatch it, just because the actors did a great job but then I remember that this is a true story and it makes me sad again :(
ialready seen it but my auntye wanted me to watch it with her so we just started and i was trying so hard not to move or nothing-it's just as rough the second time
Part 3&4 just really made me cry my heart. Ava really did an amazing job with portraying this story and deserves all her accolades for this film series
I don’t intend on watching it. I know I won’t be able to handle it. And i know it will fuck with my head for weeks if I do. Just the trailer made me angry and emotional asf!
Maybe watch a couple interviews with the real men to see that they’re all carrying on with life as best they can, then go back in to the series. It’s 💯 worth it to make it to the end.
It blew my mind how many people I know knew nothing about this story until this series started on Netflix. I have followed this story for years and am so happy to see the attention it’s finally getting. Imagine how many others there are just like these men, but their stories are never told.
When he was crying for his mom to come see him more in the visiting room my stomach started turning. Because I legit seen my self and any other black man in a predicament like that reaching that point. They literally kept moving him further from his mom only to be abused more... God bless him.
The part that moved me is when Antron was in jail and he was talking to his mom about how he can’t sleep because he hears footsteps. And his mom says she’s the footsteps waiting for him to come home like I broke down after That and Raymond’s grandma had me crying everyone she spoke
I defiantly was on the edge of my seat for the entire series. But what got me all teary eye was when Korey was in the HOLE and reminiscing parts of his life. I literally felt the Loneliness and abandonment he may have felt in that small moment
This was very deep, emotional & it shows what our ppl go through in this injustice system. Special shout out to the men this happen to my hearts go out to you for what you had to endure. I'm glad y'all are got exonerated on a crime y'all didn't commit.
This was so hard to watch, even harder to realize this happened and it’s a true story of 5 young boys this was horrific but happens a lot something needs to change, Everyone needs to see this it’s a big eye opener
The saddest part for me is when the guard didn't help Korey when he was holding onto the bars, asking for help instead of helping him, he made that tragedy worse
That show is AMAZING. It made me angry and made cry the whole time I was watching it. Its so sad that those kids in that time went through all of that just cause of the color of their skin 😢😢😢😢😢 I LOVED every minute of it. Jharrel Jerome had the best performance for me 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 A Dominican from the Bronx making us proud 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
I have never heard about this series, but since you both reviewed it I had to check it out. Just finished episode 1 and I am just boo-whooin in my bed. The storyline is so sad because interrogations like this do happen. I truly dont understand why certain people think they are better or can treat another group of people any kind of way based on them being a different skin tone! It really blows me! Like you dont even know them!
I fell in love with ava when i saw queen sugar. The young man that played korey is a POWERFUL actor. The next denzel fr! He took me into the mind and feelings of korey. He deserves EVERY AWARD possible!
you guys are adorable and I love your energy. I watched this series in one shot and it hasn't left my thoughts. It's haunting. The acting is on another level as is the direction. So impressed with all the performances. I hope everyone takes the time to watch this series to educate themselves and others, increase awareness and gain perspective. It's heart wrenching but a must see.
When Kory started to ask his mom what can I do for you when he was in jail because he knew his mom was struggling I started bawling like I had a whole ugly cry session
Beautiful it was. She should know it took a strong woman to instill that in a kid who had so many odds against him before he went jail. Bravo, yusef mom really kind of ticked me off
I cried on every episode, Even when the Hispanic guy was getting rice and his stepmom and her mother scold him over it!! He had come from prison where he was told what and when to eat, sleep, etc. And now he's home and have to ask or wait to eat. Pissed me off if I could have went through the TV, I would have laid them hands on them for him😡😭. This was a great movie it made me mad, sad, and greatful❣️❣️
love that u guys r talking about films now! hopefully one day i can make one good enough for your opinions. the guy that played Korey Wise, who was also in one of my favorite movies, Moonlight, gave a truly heartbreaking performance and definitely deserves an academy award.
Korey talks about that fight as his destiny, he calls the dude destiny because it was. That is absolutely mind blowing...that this chance encounter and years later this dude who is a psychopath is like, "wait a minute...its wrong to make some do the time for a crime they ain't commit" and then go turn himself in... When They See Us was so powerful and not the only story....but to humanize these media stories and figure out how we can get lost into a narrative that is bias when we supposed to trust our news stories. There are more stories of injustices everywhere we turn....my question now is, who are we and what do we do now that we see us?
Theirs so much sadness and light in Korey’s eyes.. and how can the white lady write a book on something she doesn’t even remember.. something doesn’t add up and in her book she referred to the guys as “thugs” and in an interview she said she believes there is medical evidence to back up that she had been attacked by more than one person.Korey wasn’t even on the list man smh he was just being a good friend. The part that got to me the most is when Korey said “I’m not going to answer anymore questions because that’s what got me here in the first place.
I’ve been trying to get through this since it dropped. I can’t get through episode 1 I’m really energy sensitive & empathetic. I’m glad y’all did this review it may make watching it easier
Real talk, I wasn't ready to watch this series yet. I ran across your video and now I can't wait to watch it. Will start tonight!! Great commentary and insight!!
Yeah if you pay attention to the times they mention shit like "bro, that album was like 9th grade for us" then the math adds up. I figured for a while now that they were mid 20s
Yesss! That pt. 4 got me. I feel so sad for Korey.. he was only there for his friend.. if you go watch real videos of him, he still looks traumatized. It’s so sad
The part that had me the most was all those times Korey had all those parole hearings. When seated in front of the parole board and asked if he was prepared to admit to the crimes that he was being found guilty of. Had me in shock to see how he never let up and just kept his chin up high because he would’ve rather stayed in prison then to admit to something he never did. CRAZY
Even when the real rapist stepped forward and they were exonerated. I didn’t feel happy or relieved, I was still mad. I was even angrier than the start because this shit shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Those boys had their lives taken from them smh
smh i love this kind of video i can see y'all film school knowledge coming through you seem very knowledgable on the visuals in addition to your opinion of the serious. great work
The scene that really moved me was when Korey found out his sister, Marci, passed and he was going off about how no gave a f*ck about him. Then the officer, Robert, hugged him.
And then he saw her while the cop held him ughhhhhhh. I was extra sad
I cried like a bitch for like 5 minutes😭
It's his brother
SAAAAAMEEEE THAT SCENE GOT ME HAARRD AF !!!!!!!!
YES!!! That broke me. I had to pause it because I was crying so hard I couldn't see the TV. 😭
I definitely shed a thug tear when he was on the bench talking about “I can’t read very well... what does this have to do with my case” amazing acting 🗣🗣🗣
Young men. Not everyone know all the actors by their real names. So, you guys should've shown pics of every1 you mentioned.
M. Davis young salad that’s not possible in the comments but he was in the video plus if you watch the actual mini series on Netflix’s you’ll know what I’m talking about
I cried on that part
And he yelled at the prosecutor YOU SAID I WOULD GO HOME! YOU SAID I WOULD GO HOME! AND ran towards her. Did anyone catch that.....
Literally he went to the station to support his friend and didnt come home for YEARS!
Beauty For Ashes TV he was yelling YOU LIED ON ME but i agree that was definitely tough to watch 😢
When They See Us, left me in an emotional wreck!! shouts out to Ava and all the actors who were able to tell this story...
tore me up...
Me too!!!😩
Korey Wise’s story hit me the most , he always stuck by his truth and only God knows how he survived all the things he went through in prison :(
That’s why he had his own episode.
Yes watched and it really moved me. I am pregnant so I couldn't get too emotional.
That’s such an interesting take on it! I can see that for sure! Ahhh man I’m crying again...
When he got to the prison with the black CO, that had me soooo messed up.
8 MILLION! Are you mad! They deserved a MINIMUM of 41 Million EACH!
True. Because you can’t pay me 1 million to spend a year in jail. It ain’t worth no money to go through what those young men went through.
Korey got 12.2 from that 41. They each got about 1 million for every year they served.
And the proceeds from the production, their pain, their gain.
Kore got 13.5 million
When Corey got the chia pet and was so happy and those scenes I was crying odeeee
When kory said he not going to his parole hearing he maxing out if they can’t listen to his truth that was so powerful I feel like at that moment he showed his strength the most you have to be a strong person to do that
Korey Wise killed it. His performance hit me in the face
Yes he was on point!!
Jherrel Jerome is the actor's name.
@@filmadcamp1512 *Jharrel
Jharrel Jerome should win ALL the awards. Ava did THIS. My heart broke when Korey gave out “candy” to symbolize sex
Wait that went over my head explain please?
Was that in a book or another documentary that said that?
Adanma Onyedike Barton wait what???? Is that what they said it symbolized??
It’s simply in the tone of the officer who asked. “Let ME know if there’s something YOU can do for ME?” That just screams sexual intention.
Ava replied to a tweet about it
Yoooo I almost cried when they brought Korey to the stand and he was trying to explain that he was coerced
Man I cried for you!
When he started screaming "why you lie on me!?" My heart sank........smh

@jill scottman it happened in episode 2... before Korey went to pretrial and he saw the other boys for the first time. They were explaining to him what pretrial was and Antron or Kevin said it....
The last phone call with Koreys mom put me in tears bro.. I was balling
When he was begging his mom to come see him more made me cry frfr I was really hurt
⛈ for me it was when he was asking money and his mom goes like “ I ain’t no money for you boy” 😭😭😭 he had to do sexual favors
Jharrel Jerome deserves an award for his performance
never cried so much in my life during part 4
Boul Shyte same.
Yes the cinematography was beautiful. One of my favorite shots was after the verdict, Kevin's character was sitting in the street with his trumpet.
Yes. Very powerful scene
That was one of my favorites too and it was sad because it showed what could have been definitely a shot that stood out
Yes, that shot was one of my favorite and I kept thinking about it
That scene broke me. It really just showed how these innocent kids' lives were just taken from them.
koreys part definitely made me cry and then when frank oceans moon river played at the end, that took me out. 😭
I was straight sobbing by then 😭
Yeah.........like the ending left you in pieces. That song is hard to get through by itself.
Jaelin Dejon exactly! Like the song is already tough by itself.
The part at the end when the guys grab each other's hand and lifted their hands together I lost it 😢😭😭😭😭😭
One of the most POWERFUL shows I've watched in years!

I have such a profound respect for Niecy. She will probably get her first Emmy nod next year.
Fred Morris she has been nominated for and won Emmys already🤨🤨🤨
@@MsChari40 I didn't know that. Sweet.

Had me in shock to see how he never let up and just kept his chin up high because he would’ve rather stayed in prison then to admit to something he never did. CRAZY
Not gone lie, this series made me mad AF!!! 😤
6LACK LORD Facts bruhhhh
6LACK LORD TELL ME ABOUT I WAS SO DAMN MAD!!!!!!!
Even when the real rapist stepped forward and they were exonerated. I didn’t feel happy or relieved, I was still mad. I was even angrier than the start because this shit shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Those boys had their lives taken from them smh
