  • Here`s a little something I knocked up using one of my own songs called SQUELCH as a backing track, just to show my appreciation to the best band in the world, MADNESS. Thanks to my good mate Pauly T for his encouragement to put this song up.
Drums, bass, guitar, sax & squelches all played on my Yamaha PSR 3000 keyboard.
Organ played on my Hammond XK3c.
(Hammond XK3c Leslie simulator used on this recording).

Amazing. Now that sounds exactly like an early kind of Madness song to me, the keyboards, sax, bass and drums all have that early reggae Madness-ska feel to it. You're like a one-man Madness band. Incredible.

Hi Glenn, fantastic to hear from you mate.
I was thrilled to bits to see you liked this little tune of mine, it really made my night :o)
I feel now (or I hope) that by getting your words of approval means that I have achieved my goal of creating something with a truly authentic & old school sound. You are the real deal & I have a hell of a lot of respect for you mate, so your words are the ultimate compliment.
(I`m also pleased I made this video my featured video again on my channel, otherwise it can be easily missed. This must have helped you to see it).
Anyway Si rang me last night & told me that you`d like to put it on vinyl, & I was extremely honoured & excited to hear it.
Please go ahead, but do you need a copy on CD first?, & do you think the mix is ok?.
I did this nearly 10 years ago & I i`m not sure now if my mixing skills back then were good enough to be played to an audience via loud speaker?. (I reallly only made it for myself & didn`t expect it to be so popular).
It would be great if you think it all sounds good enough as it is, as it would save me a lot of work, as i`m never satisfied with what I do!.
      Cheers mate.

Hello Lee, this is certainly authentic and a good dose of the Madness/2-Tone sound,
      it`s absolutely fantastic.
The video did go some way towards finding it, but seriously, how did i miss this in the first place!
you have reached your goal with this one mate without a doubt, this is fresh and old school all wrapped up into a bundle of joy.
i will pull a file of it from here and get it cut to vinyl within the next two weeks, if it doesn`t work out this way then i will contact you for a copy on cd. Hopefully it should be ready for the 24th August as I am dj`ing the Royal Albert that night and want to spin it there.
Once it is cut i will let Si know how it comes out, and if you want a vinyl copy I will get it cut for you.
      take it easy my friend.

Hi Glenn, firstly I wanted to congratulate you on doing the dj`ing & I hope you are enjoying it. I think it`s great.
It has always been a huge but seemingly impossible dream of mine to have one of my songs on vinyl, and I never thought it would happen, but now thanks to you....:o) ....so yeah, thank you, I would love a vinyl copy please mate if possible.
The reason I asked if you wanted a master copy on CD was that compared to the original file, youtube videos lose a bit of quality in sound & picture once they are uploaded, plus I feel maybe I could remix it so the drums & bass could be a bit louder.
But i`m incredibly fussy & i`m never happy with what I do, & I could go on remixing it like this forever, driving myself fucking crazier trying to get it so I think it sounds alright. So I guess it would do me a big favour if you are happy with the mix on here.
But if you are not then I will happily do whatever is necessary for you.
I loved the way you described this song as having a good dose of the Madness/2-Tone sound and being fresh and old school, all wrapped up into a bundle of joy. Fucking brilliant mate. I never would have had the confidence to play it to a room of people, & I never thought of it as having a fresh feeling to it as well. So thank you so much mate as you`ve made this sad old fucker feel very happy & it`s motivated me to try to do some more original work.
There is lots of stuff on my channel, & that can make stuff be easily missed, so unfortunately it`s just a case of having to search through it all.
I try to organise my channel so it is easy for people to look through, but I do it all on a desktop computer with a big screen.
I assume most people access youtube on their phones, but what with me having a wind up black & white phone I don`t know how my channel looks on a modern phone!!. ...probably different than on my computer?
Anyway, sorry to ramble on mate, regards to yourselves & gang down there, & I hope everyone is well.
      Take care.

Hi Monty, yes I have met Luke & Loz a few times.
They are really nice young people. It was always a real pleasure chatting with them & they are both brilliant performers too.
On one occasion they both came to The Dublin Castle to support us & you can see them both dancing in the "Swan Lake" video i`ve got on here.

This a a great song and well produced please could I ask for this on a CD? Love how you have managed to blend in all the different instruments sax You would even go down great as a Pre-Madness warm up act its great music for a great band..but I would love a copy on CD as this tune stays in the mind.

This is just grand, you’ve really captured the early 80s Madness ska feeling. Let me know if you make an album mate, I’d be surprised if Suggs himself wouldn’t cameo on it
