- The History taking, Mental Status Examination (MSE) and Cognitive function assessments are the most important diagnostic tools in Psychiatry or mental disorders. These tools are essential to make an accurate diagnosis because there are no laboratory investigations available for diagnosing mental illness or psychiatric disorders. The components of case/history taking are described in the following video. The material presented here is intended to enable students and mental health professionals to follow a uniform method of case taking in psychiatry.

Beautiful presentation Dear Dr Suresh Bada Math. Useful for everyone. Especially good for all our Indian students. It’s a great job keeping our traditional style of history and MSE intact otherwise I’m sure we would replace it with the western one soon. Thanks and Cheers ! Ohh god,,,now I got an idea about how to interview a psychiatry,,, I our professor was explained,,, still I didn't get anything,,,
Do you have any videos on how to write a proper DSM-5 diagnosis? I studied DSM-IV and am not up-to-date. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will make a video on DSM V diagnosis
Sir, for getting this much specific information we need to ask too many questions right, what should we do when the person asks 'why are you asking too many questions'?
Please respond to them by saying -“ I am trying to understand comprehensively about ur signs/symptoms from all corners such as family background, personal history and premorbid personality - so that we can help you comprehensively
Thank you for this video sir. If the patient is reluctant or deceiving during the interview , do you suggest psychometric tools such as dsm v to reach a diagnosis? Thank you in advance!
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) is an authoritative volume manual that defines and classifies mental disorders in order to improve diagnoses, treatment, and research. All diagnostic interviews choose either ICD 10 based or DSM 5 based diagnosis

Good evening sir, sir please can you tell me continues and progression comes under course
It can be considered as course (but usually it is articulated as chronic - continuous/progressive) and also outcome. However, during history taking one is interested to know is it chronic or episodic illness?
@@SureshBadaMath thank you sir
Very nice class sir..thank u..kindly teach how to establish alcohol drinking patterns in history of presenting illness in details..thank u sir
