    Viola voice makes everything sound like poetry. I love how deep she speaks. I would love to hear more of her wisdom. she should have an app of daily wisdom. She's like a mother or a Auntie you always wanted.

    They missed that other tweet that read "Viola has never been discriminated against." That one got my blood boiling! I hate it when people who haven't experienced a struggle decide to comment on it like they know better than those who have. Please have a seat!

    • @MsBrooklyn11232
      @MsBrooklyn11232 8 років тому +44

      Wow I didn't see that tweet at all! Now that you said this, I am disgusted by that statement! A lot of white people think that black people and minorities are treated equally and that is not true at all. Most white people didn't experience racism/discrimination so it is hard for them to understand the black experience in America.

    • @Rebeleflor
      @Rebeleflor 8 років тому +16

      +MsBrooklyn11232 Agree. But the truth is "ethnics" are becoming the majority and I think that scares some white people. Combined, POC(Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, and biracials ect.) out number whites, and for that reason they forget many years of being the oppressor because they are now out numbered. I'm happy for Viola and it's true that she is a black actress that won an Emmy but she is also an ACTRESS that beat out her peers (white and black)

  • @2KAYE9UNRULEY
    @2KAYE9UNRULEY 8 років тому +419

    Viola is the first, THE FIRST, Black Woman to win an award of that category. OF COURSE RACE IS GONNA BE MENTIONED! What is wrong with some of these white people in hollywood? They've never been discriminated against because of their skin color, some of them were already set for life due to their parents opportunities, and regardless of that they don't even have to work as hard. So when a woman like Viola overcomes the pivotal obstacles of the industry while being double minority, she should just disregard who she is, where she's come from, and what this moment means for women of color? GTFOH!

      @MochaRose990 8 років тому +26

      potato_master ಠ_ಠ yes exactly! so many get the impression that BLM is implying that all lives don't matter which is not the case. Based upon police brutality and racism, it is evident black people aren't viewed as humans or their lives aren't as valuable as a white person. The campaign "Save the Polar Bears" is not saying that any other animal does not matter.
      Rather, it is focusing on the animal that is on the verge of extinction. #blacklivesmatter isn't stirring up any racial tensions, it's confronting the racism that already exist. I could go on a rant about the controversy but we're on the same page so I'll leave it as is.

    • @nessa7094
      @nessa7094 8 років тому +3

      Monique 😊 yes...and racism has become more of a subconscious thing bringing people to receive subtle prejudices and others without understanding because they feel racism only comes in a certain package!

    • @MochaRose990
      @MochaRose990 8 років тому +9

      Nessa I can see that and then some white people justify their racism by saying "I'm not racist, I have a friend who's black". But I think it's always been subconscious to certain extent. A racist or prejudice parent's ways will rub off on their children and they will have pre-instilled perceptions of other races, even without having met one person of that race. The media can also be blamed for that too with the way they portray other races or cover certain issues pertaining to other races.For instance, an Arab or Muslim kills someone, they're a terrorist. A white guy does a mass shooting and the media says something along the lines of "mentally ill man..." even the guy who killed CHILDREN (the Sandy hook incident) was defended. A black guy kills someone, he's a thug. They'll even state the race of other races, but never whites. When a white person does something cruel, it is an individual thing, the whole race isn't to blame for it. But a black, mexican, or arab does
      something, the entire race is to be blamed.

    I love the comment that Adrienne made about cancer and black lives matter. We all know all lives matter, but because what black people went through and is still going through why there is such a statement. Love the way she compared both with when she said its like someone showing up at a cancer event screaming out other diseases. We know other diseases are out there, but cancer is being taken lightly when its one of the most deadliest silent killers out there, hence the reason why we have "cancer awareness month/day"

    What pisses me off is that she mentioned the Emmys is not 'venue' for women of color. Um excuse me, The Emmys is basically made to award those who have excellence in the television industry, it's not made to award skin colors. You're a white actress and you starred in a small film? You win! You're black or asian and you starred in huge multi million dollar films? You don't deserve it because "your skin is different". I'm saddened by the fact that Nancy looked past the true meaning of the Emmys, and I agree with Tamera; you don't know the suffering Viola probably had to endure just to come that far.

    How can she even dare to tell Viola what her acceptance speech should entail? She's never even had to shop in the same store where Viola gets here shoes from, let alone walk in them. She needs to sincerely check her privilege at the door.

    Nancy Lee go have several seat, and think before saying rubbish. That being said, personally I believe is time for black people to start owning our own film studios, start writing our own scripts and giving each other roles that is Oscar worthy, and before all the trolls start bashing me for my comments, am not preaching that well should separate ourselves from everyone else, but after the Oscar's fiasco, can u really blame us. I’m glad they talked about this. They should talk more about these types of issues every now and then. Because it’s real life for some of us. They are also women of color, and should share some of their experiences. I think viewers would appreciate it.

    let's not fail to mention that when there are roles available they cast other races. i love Zoe Saldana but there aren't any black women who can portray that part? or how about Exodus or noah where they are casting white men where history shows you the area's were populated by colored people

      +Mya Louis 1. I already knew somebody was going to reply that she's black Dominican. I well versed on ethnicities so that was not my point. 2. I honestly do not care I pointed out a fact that most people know and will say. Now AfricanAmerican and black Dominican has two different stories don't they? We all the same to me but not everyone and that's really all I saying.

    I love Tamera and she seems like a great person. I also love that she openly loves and accepts her Black heritage. I feel sometimes though that she does not openly support her Caucasian heritage. When they speak about race she never talks about her Caucasian side. Just like every race Caucasians have good and bad traits. The real can speak well about Blacks, Asians, and Latina's because they have someone to represent them. I wish Tamera would speak about Caucasians, since she is half, to let people know that we are not all the same. Many of us agree to equality of all races.

    • @horii1996
      @horii1996 7 років тому +7

      Son bee I understand that she is of color also. But, she is also Caucasian. I wish she would relate to both. She is a perfect candidate to understand that not all white are the same and not all blacks are the same. Because she is the child of both a white and black person.

    • @horii1996
      @horii1996 7 років тому +3

      That is sad. I think everyone should be proud of their race no matter what it is. I would never judge someone for being mixed. If anything, I can be a little jealous because they get to experience two cultures.

    • @annahill4552
      @annahill4552 7 років тому

      Well she doesn't identify as white so I doubt she would speak on it. And she's seen as a black woman and treated as such and claims to be so I'm not really sure why she speak on Caucasians. Having Tamera speak on it would be a force.

    • @horii1996
      @horii1996 7 років тому +1

      I was just stating that I think she should be proud of both races. She is both, there is nothing wrong with representing both. It seems she is still open to her caucasian side, she is close with her dad and she married a caucasian and now her kids are 3/4 white. But whatever she wants to do is fine, I am still a fan.

    • @horii1996

  • @ahub87
    @ahub87 8 років тому +1

    I don't even see the need for her shade...Nancy has a successful career in daytime television. She has her Emmy and several nominations. She's had a steady paycheck for years, so why is she so bent out of shape. Where is the class these days? The difference with people these days is Nancy had the nerve to be upset over an award she wasn't even in the running for but her counterpart Susan Lucci was passed over for awards for years (to the point where it became a joke) and not once did Ms. Lucci complain or throw shade about it. Those tweets were tacky.
