listen TWICE . . . I misheard the first time. The "Public Safety Training Center" is under construction and will be ready by the end of the year, NOT the new MARTA Station at Murphy Crossing. (why even mention the training center in this clip? maybe so folks like me will think they were talking about the new Murphy Crossing Station? I think so, in my opinion). This clip is supposed to be about "4 new MARTA rail stations" and they inject that construction will be completed by the end of the year. take that portion out, it causes confusion. That state of Atlanta isn't as strong as I thought it was on first listen) edit- Okay, so it's been 7 months since this video posted. Any news on the Murphy Crossing Station construction yet ? ? ? (I think this may just be political vaporware to score political points, getting people ready to pat the mayor on the back for construction that has yet to start. When's the start date? )
I don't understand why MARTA doesn't want to expand to Cobb or Gwinnett? I seriously think it's a good idea for MARTA to build a rail station in Marietta and near Truist Park! We REALLY want MARTA to expand into neighboring counties instead of keeping them in Fulton and Dekalb counties all the time!
MARTA has been trying to come into Cobb forever. Blame the Cobb politicians playing race games and screwing over residents (who would love to take rail to work) in hopes of keeping the county RED. Frankly I could care less if its RED or BLUE but we need commuter rail out here.
I'm going to guess the other three infill stations. I would say a station in between King Memorial and Inman Park Reynoldstown. The next between Arts Center and Lindberg. Center. I believe a station between Brookhaven/ Oglethorpe and Chamblee maybe 🤔.or wildcard choice between Edgewood Candler Park and Eastlake at Pullman Yards.. what's your Guess??
Anything spent on transit is a big spend and thats true about private investors. But of all of MARTA's options to grow, infil stations are the most worthwhile.
@@WilliamAkins-rw2hv No infill stations would be cost efficient, as the stations are close together, and it would be a waste of taxpayers money, just like the asinine trolley is.
@stevenmcgillivray9283 I fully agree on the trolley; it would be a definite waste of money. What I meant is that infil stations are a better use of money Relative to other growth options for heavy rail because it makes increased use of an already-built line.
It would really make sense to have a new station north of Brookhaven/Oglethorpe and to name it just "Oglethorpe", shortening the current station's name just "Brookhaven". The Doraville station should get a pedestrian bridge over to the future development at the old GM tract. That should be a no-brainer.
The issues of the vote to join Marta and the 1% sale tax are the 2 matters that are keeping Marta from expanding into Cobb county and Gwinnett county 👍
Meanwhile we're getting worked over by so-called school taxes annually. 1% would save me a lot of gas and time from a long commute to work if we got some rail stations out here.
I give it another 5 years. The horse has left the barn and the old lies don't work anymore. Mass transit is now a federal initiative and rail/train manufacturing plants have been springing up around the country. Charlotte and a few other cities are about to show Atlanta what good mass transit system does for a metro. Its sad that we are known as a major transportation hub with our traffic nightmare and poor metro transit coverage.

More people mean more crime. Not better or worse crime, but more crime in numbers. That seems to be the result in every city US and outside the US. Public transit supports the population, and its economy. That also stands consistent in every city. Atlanta is long overdue in expanding and investing in its Public transit. Correlation is not causation. I understand I'm not changing anyone's mind here. But I would like others to consider what transit does for its communities and wide range of industry from E-commerce to Education. Consider this, your populations already here. We need to support it, public transit does that. If not the result is a poor, disconnected city.
thank God!
Sounds like a ploy to get out of belt line rail to Ponce City Market. One that still won’t be finished for probably 20 years or more

The biggest issue is the homeless in Marta station
It's not just the homeless it's the people who's not homeless too

Gwinnett county residents voted no to Marta that is why
Will the 4 new marta stations used for buses or trains.
They will be train stations; busses at some of them are a possibility.
How will this be paid for, and will it be cost efficient?

My guess it's all a waste of taxpayers money, no private investor would squander their money on them.

I wonder what the next 3 are
MARTA will not expand any further north! Guaranteed
Good! it goes far enough.
