I remember that barn you worked out of, and I'll never forget the first time you came over to my house to adjust the valves of my 220D. That was a long time ago. I love these videos keep them coming

Crazy stuff! BTW, the first car I bought was a 73 220D back in 1997 from a sketchy used car lot in Boston. The car was ratty and well used but not very rusty. I discovered that it was originally a California car and managed to contact the original owner whose number I found on some service receipts. He told me that it had over 700,000 miles on it! I drove it on and off for 7 years and even cross country! I still have it but it’s in pieces now. I’m hoping to get it back together some time soon as I really miss driving it.

It’s hard getting started in life. It’s part luck, part who you know and part what you add to it like learning a skill. My eldest son who’s 28 just got a ‘real job’ after six years working pushing carts at Walmart. He says it very hard to find decent work.
29 years ago my husband’s aunt got him a job working for Pizza Hut in the now closed corporate office in MD. He just got terminated in October. 200 + applications later he has a very good job at Ecolab doing extermination with help from someone he knew. Now he’s the Terminator- Blue collar- so he works less and makes about the same money. Haha go figure.

Good Morning Pierre, back on the saddle after my short sojourn in Florida. It has been a pleasure to meet you, and have the opportunity to converse with you at your shop. I appreciate your time, which is certainly very valuable. I have become a Patron of your Channel, and I am glad I will be able to contribute in a small fashion to the production of these great videos.
Not only I have the '85 500 SEL coming to you in the next couple of weeks, but I also bought another headache, a '85 500 SEC, which has been abandoned for a long time. I do not have any idea what I am going to find when I get it, but, this is my style. As my Wife would put it, I am a sucker for punishment, and I take challenges, that take me beyond my abilities, but, after all of these years living like this, why change now?
I am dedicating a lot of time to watch your videos and learning everything I can about MB's and the maintenance of them. As I mentioned in our meeting, I enjoy driving machines, which function as it was intended. I do not want "rocket ships", or to brake the Land Speed Record, that is not my style, I enjoy driving, pure and simple, whether is a sailboat, a car, or a plane, I enjoy when all components perform as expected, and if they don't, I enjoy the challenge to make them so. Nothing clears the mind, like a good road-trip, in an excellent automobile!
Thank you again for your time, hopefully will see you in the next few weeks, after the delivery of "Old Blue"...(all of my cars have some sort of pseudonym, I got the "Green Hornet", '75 Imperial, "Silver Bullet", '76 Chrysler Cordoba, "Red Baron", '77 Chrysler Cordoba, and finally "Franz", '79 Volkswagen Cabriolet). I think, I'm opening an exciting chapter in my life, rescuing these old, forgotten machines, and as I learn more about them, I'm starting to realize, that I have made the correct decision, venturing into the Mercedes-Benz world. Thank you for sharing your talent, knowledge and experience with the rest of us.

Pierre, I too have always kind of faked it till I made it so to speak I'm starting to really like Mercedes I had w126 sedan the thing was an excellent condition and I traded it for a trashed out 944 don't ask me why the Mercedes was flawless I was an idiot I had a chance to buy another one recently, so I the one i own now now this one has very little rust on the front fenders but less miles then the original one i had, to had anyway my question to you is I have a chance to possibly get a 1973 450SL with a rebuilt motor from my understanding the motor was rebuilt by a guy who really knew what he was doing is this a smart move I'm considering trading my Boxster S for it my boxter S is a 2002 90,000 miles Florida car. am I making a smart move ,please tell me and if you could if you could tell me your opinion of what you think that car is worth it has a brand new rebuilt motor thanks i engoy your video ☺
Great story...you can tell that he is and was on a pathway of success. 2008 was a hard time financially for America "the crash of 08" but he pulled through it and even began to accelerate. That took a lots of pluck and sheer effort. When someone sleeps in their car, and can work all night, that man is a MAN. Hats off to Mr. Hedary.

Again great story, I'm looking foward to part 3 and 4. Being a college graduate myself (BS in information systems security) I still work as a tow truck driver. I feel I'm too old now ( And not as smart as these new kids graduating. Lol) to get into the IT field. I am very happy doing what I do for living. Do what you love and are passionate about and never work a day in your life. Is a great quote that I'll never forget. Also life long learning is never ending it doesnt hurt to learn something new each day. Even I have to look up info on a particular vehicles im towing so I dont cause any unnecessary damages. The connection between a psychology background and things mechanical is not unprecedented. As evidence I would submit: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig, and Shop Class as Soulcraft by Matthew Crawford. Both excellent reads, and an interesting connection between the mechanical and contemplative aspects of vehicle service.
So by straddling both worlds, I think you are on the right track.

My mechanic of 30 years has a masters degree in psyche but could never give up his passion for classic cars, hence, his shop - Urban Classics - in Brooklyn - a full service shop for all cars. In his early days he serviced my W116 when I could not.
Pierre, per chance did you read Persig's - Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? Tedious at times but interesting.
I did Gary, it is tedious but a great book...i read it in high school.
