Damn this movie is still one of my favorites. The cinematography, the music, the cast, Any true romantic needs to watch this. I always thought this should have been better received, I watched it just the other day & it holds up so well!
Totally agree with your comments. This movie the story line appeals to so many of us fighting an invisible enemy when the measuring stick is us as individuals.
Listen to this song. It was made by someone using pieces of another person's song and using this movie as it's music. So brilliant ua-cam.com/video/aJ31MViGqBY/v-deo.html
Draco Padilla you never know, she will see the error in her ways......will you forgive her like Fin did or make her feel bad by the way she treated you?
Masterpiece. Years ago I saw this movie and read the book in my English classes. Then I understood the pain of not feeling enough, but being actually enough. Love is blind, but it can help you grow. Only a strong mind can accept another strong mind
A broken heart a couple of times. And crazy but this part of the movie have pushed me to grow and not leave my seelff to stay behind in order to one day be enough and reach a higher position
People may think this is a story. But it is almost scary when we realize these things have occurred and will continue to happen. Because he wasn't just successful and rich his fortune was the "true love" he still hold for her. It send shivers down my back...
I love this movie and Ethan and Gwyneth. I used to watch it when I was a boy. I loved him in Gattaca as well. I loved Ethan and Gwyneth and Uma after those movies.
Unfortinately, I can't watching this movie anymore. To many pain Is hiding in every sentences, in every sound. But, it Is the most beautiful movie that I ever watched in my life.
Ethan Hawke is a Scorpio and it is well known that scorpio-born people are passionate and can get veeery emotional... No one could play that scene better. He is a great actor and i strongly believe that he deserved an oscar for his performance in this movie p.s. We look forward to see you again in Greece!
I remember watching this like 15 years ago when I was so young and I still think this is one of my favorite scenes and one of my favorite movies of all time
When a person who is struggling with they're faith and experiences that undescribable feeling when watching a scene like this... know that it is your soul speaking to your human mind. It is indeed GOD.
0:51 to the end, is the best part of any movie that has been, or ever will be made. It has such an impact on me. It is literally my life. I did everything for my ex fiancée but I was never enough for her. I lost her... I will never get her back...
i've never cried this much watching a movie and the best was to cry in the arms of my boyfriend and we ended crying together .. need to rewatch this gorgeous movie soon
Im an artist myself, and there are two girls I fell in love with, and I always wanted to do this, ring the door bell and just scream and shout these words the best scene in the movie. I just love it!
Eramos tan niños cuando la vimos, jamás imaginamos que sería la vida quien nos rompería el corazón. Tu segunda mejor película y mi favorita. No la he vuelto a ver desde entonces. Tal vez pronto.
I love this scene, it really reminds me of who I was in my 20's. The only part that was true for me though was when he said, everything I do, I do it for you... I wasn't that happy, nor was I a wild success... But I'll always remember that excitement of being in love.
Me too bro. Although I had a bit of a delayed fuse and had this outburst with my HS/early college GF from Harvard after I landed a prestigious job after graduation. But like the movie, it didn’t work, so after fully self-destructing I picked up the pieces of myself and grew up. I met a girl shortly after who was 10x the woman my ex was (also 10x as cray) so I lucked out....relatively speaking. Lol.
The things we do for love. We became protective and defensive for them. When it's new we notice the little things they do. What they like what they don't like. You show them more of your true self and them to you. Almost pathetic sometimes the things you do it's like a drug. Ain't love grand.
Ethan Hawke is very good and so many movies. And this is one like as the movie "The woman in the fifth" and (Alive) and (Snow fallen on cedars), (Gattaca) , (Before Sunrise) (Before sunset) (Before midnight - 2013). I loved. Thanks for these his movies.
It's funny how he's in this and he's in Gattaca, and my favorite line in Gattaca, is when him and his brother are swimming and he tells his brother, do you know how I beat you, I didn't save anything for the swim back
This scene reminded me when my first girlfriend dumped me because, according to her, "I was going to be only a regular teacher". At the end, I proved to myself I have no limits at all...
Yes, Calf de Winter and I'm from 100's ad and I don't think everyone showers and or yes I think they clean the table? Lastly, I can think of so many soaps we had back then, but I just don't mean the 30's and Dolores del rio are you there!
The night all of my dreams came true, and like all happy endings,It was a tragedy, Of my device, for I succeeded. I had cut myself loose from Joe, from the past, from the gulf, from poverty I had invented myself. I'd done it cruelly, but I had done it. I was free!
Glad your in agreement : ), This movie & "A Good Year" with Russel Crowe are 2 of my favorites. 2 very different movies, but they really take you away.
I did it! I did it! I am a wild success! I sold 'em all, all my paintings. You don't have to be embarrassed by me anymore. I'm rich! Isn't that what you wanted? Aren't we happy now? Don't you understand that everything I do, I do it for you? Anything that might be special in me, is you.
I saw this movie when it came out 25 years and 60 pounds ago ( I was in college in that neighborhood of manhattan and had the same exact jacket 800 dollar jacket lol). It brings back beautiful memories of being young and attractive but being rejected by love. This movie was good but not excellent since Ethan Hawke was way above Gwenyth Paltrow in the looks department so it wasn’t altogether believable that he would lust after her. He wanted the actor to be Latino or black so it would make sense contemporarily. Still a beautiful movie and deniro was fantastic.
totally amazing ...great colors, cool story, big actors and good music. Excellent adaptation of the novel... by the way, i wanna see the one with gillian anderson as miss havisham ;)
...for I'd succeeded, I had cut myself loose. From Joe, from the past, from war, I had re-invented myself. I had done it cruelly, but I'd done it. I was free!!!!! I DID IT, I DID IT!!!!! I AM A WILD SUCCESS!
One of my favorites films from the great cuaron also his take on a classic highly underrated it make me feel related to Finn i did everything but yes i have succeeded i done it cruelly i pushed her away and now im too late shes about to get marry and everything she wanted was to be part of it so everything i did everything that was special on me was her but now shes gone i created my own tragedy this scene hits hard
It is a tragedy narrative because it's *now* in this scene that he confesses his love for her.and it's too late. If he had done it sooner he might not have been in this situation.
Actually he did relay his feeling to her early on - several times -, but she was raised by her grandma into believing that men are to be used and taking advantage of (as revenge because her grandma was stood up at the altar..). Estelle understood his feelings and deep inside she loved him, reason why she tried to actually protect him from being used for his feelings towards her. Right after this scene here - when he goes up the stairs to her grandma -, he learns all this and his heart is broken to pieces, hence grandma realizes what she had done to both of them.
@@Morcap he never outright said it. That was the disconnect. Once he found out Estella was engaged and Walter warned him she was going to hurt him again (that’s why he turned a blind eye/tolerance to her sleeping with Finn), but Finn was blinded by his passion for her. Once Finn realized the only true chance (not promise) of Estella leaving Walter for him-she was out of reach. That’s why is really hurt when Ms. Dimsmore confessed she was behind it all.
This film really captures what it feels like to not feel like you're enough for someone.
My ex ...did it all but one little thing was all it took
And the book. And u nailed it. I still at my age try for “her”
My god, and my darling how you are in the bedroom!
Damn this movie is still one of my favorites. The cinematography, the music, the cast, Any true romantic needs to watch this. I always thought this should have been better received, I watched it just the other day & it holds up so well!

I love all the GREEN!
This scene is passion itself. I cry every time I watch it
Fabiola Sammartino 0:51 to the end gets me everytime. Reminds me of my ex fiancée and I. No matter what I did, I was never enough for her.
Oh my, that is fascinating...thanks for sharing!
Fabiola Sammartino I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not lol. But I'm gonna assume that you're being genuine so thank you :)
not at all, i am truly grateful. that is why I posted the video in the first place!
Draco Padilla you never know, she will see the error in her ways......will you forgive her like Fin did or make her feel bad by the way she treated you?
One of my favorites scenes ever. The words, the music, the feelings, Ethan Hawke made a GREAT JOB. Everyone in the film did it.
This movie is so underrated. It's so beautiful. Especially this scene, as well as the kiss in the rain scene. Ethan Hawke is amazing.
I back to say that this movie is really a treasure... huge fan since the beginning ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Every time I achieve a goal, I always play this scene
me too, the story of my life
Masterpiece. Years ago I saw this movie and read the book in my English classes. Then I understood the pain of not feeling enough, but being actually enough. Love is blind, but it can help you grow. Only a strong mind can accept another strong mind

@@Spike_travels Yeah, I did almost the same...after some losses
Best soundtrack ever!!
Johanna Garcia what iis it name?
Both the soundtrack and the score are f*cking awesome IMO
People may think this is a story. But it is almost scary when we realize these things have occurred and will continue to happen. Because he wasn't just successful and rich his fortune was the "true love" he still hold for her. It send shivers down my back...
amen

I watched this movie for the first time 10 years ago... it still makes me cry. Sad but beautiful
I have the same feeling, but I can't find the full move :(
I love this movie and Ethan and Gwyneth. I used to watch it when I was a boy. I loved him in Gattaca as well. I loved Ethan and Gwyneth and Uma after those movies.
me too. Even because of Uma Thurman I decided to watch Les Misérables and from that moment on I also love Liam Neeson

Hm.... It's sad to feel struggled as a human being like this...
2023 anyone? Still one of my faves scenes ever! ❤
'You don't have to be embarrassed by me anymore! I'm rich! Isn't that what you wanted? Are we happy now?' Just epic!!
IKR 😢 intense.... it seems like he's mad, but at the same time had hopes
The movie title is just so perfect "Great Expectations"
Is based on the Charles dickens novel great expectations
A modern version of a literature classic retale by the great Alfonso Cuaron wonder why he won 2 oscars
0:51 to the end, is the best part of any movie that has been, or ever will be made. It has such an impact on me. It is literally my life. I did everything for my ex fiancée but I was never enough for her.

This is my favorite movie , I adore it...so heartbreaking, every time I see it I can't help but Cry, and this scene kills me every time!
Una de las mejores escenas de la vida.
there was someone once, who was worthy of how I felt when I watched this.
Music, Actors, Conversations, it's a success movie
After may years still watch it over and over and over again
Every few years this scene pops into head and I rush to UA-cam just watch it again and again.
Seriously! I cant get enough of this scene
