- Tornado! is the 1996 TV full movie released on May 7, 1996 before the film movie Twister May 10, 1996. I upload this because this is old TV Movie in the 90's and I hope you all watch it before.

At the one hour and six minute mark that was actually my barber shop. I lost it a couple years ago due to Covid. But now my daughter has taken over the space and made it her own barber shop. And she is doing great! So proud of her.
I will never forget the day they came out to film. I was paid $ 500.00 for the use of my shop for the morning. They had a food truck for all the people connected with the movie. My seven up clock had to be taken down because it advertised a certain brand. Bottles had to be turned around so they wouldn't be advertising anything. Lol. They used an actor to play the barber, but he used my chair. They had to take my name off my mirror behind my barber chair because they called the "barber" George. And my name is not George. They almost didn't catch it. There was talk about me and one of my barbers being "extras" but I guess they changed their minds. Interestingly, they said they picked my shop over a couple others in town because they liked the large bull horns I had hanging on the wall. Funny thing is they didn't even come out in the scene! It is also unbelievable to me that their was so much involved for a scene that only lasted about one minute! Lol.
My only regret is I didn't get to meet L.Q. Jones. He wasn't there to shoot this scene. It would have been a real kick to meet him. But the whole experience was a fun memory. And gave us something to talk about for awhile.

I've been looking for this movie! I remember watching it on TV with my step dad in 1996 not long after we saw Twister in the theater, which had started my huge fascination with tornadoes. Same with the other TV movie from the same year, Night Of The Twisters. I personally love all three movies for different reasons. Twister is a very fun thrilling ride, but I also love the extra focus on the characters and heartwarming moments in the two made for TV movies.
I haven't seen this movie in 2 decades, I taped it on a VHS tape which is long gone. Twister, Night of the twisters and this movie has always been top 3 favorite movies about tornadoes. Grandpa was a legend. Great movie 👍👍

This brings back so many memories, like it was yesterday. I'm from Iowa and survived the 2008 EF5 in Parkersburg. I can still feel the ear popping pressure change when it hit. The devastation "looked like a warzone".

I was in the 05/2003 Franklin, KS EF-4 tornado. We lived east of Franklin so it weakened a lot. It probably wasn't on the ground through us. It flipped mobile homes, toppled trees, and took off chiminies. I did get to see a small tornado on the ground. It disappeared behind fog. I believe it was the main tornado. We were on the northern side of the tornado. It was 5/8ths of a mile wide with 3 small tornadoes. They had merged together before hitting Franklin.

Just curious. What did it sound like? I always hear they sound like a freight train. To me, it sounded nothing like a train. It sounded like a 747 taking off. It was a loud roar. I guess it depends on how close you are to the jet and the train.
To me, a train sounds more mechanical. Yeah, you get a whoosh of the turbo, but you can still hear that diesel sound. A jet engine just has a more whoosh sound. Smoother roar. Not mechanical.
My ears popped when the wind changed direction. The winds came from the northeast and then the southeast when it passed. This means anticyclonic. I don't remember if that tornado was anticyclonic and we could have been hit by the small tornado I saw. I believed that was the actual tornado. I felt so calm. I think if I ever realized just how big it was, I would have been more scared.
I wonder if the low air pressure in a tornado isn't just the vacuum of the tornado itself. Air is being pulled up quicker than it can be replaced. It wasn't scary at all. We heard glass breaking twice upstairs. It didn't shatter. Just broke from being hit. Same window twice. I never saw any debris other than grass clippings against the basement window.
I still wouldn't want to go through it again because I know it could have been worse.
The old dude, it’s so right. It gets to the point that, if you pay attention to animals, nature, smells, noises,you are better than the Doppler which can follow a tornados’ path but, not predict it.

Animals and birds are very perceptive when it comes to change in the atmosphere. It's like when cows lie down in a field it's because they sense increasing air moisture, and you can expect rain.
I saw this movie years ago and it is one of the best. And no commercials! Good movie and being free, outstanding
I survived an F4 tornado in 1974 in Omaha, Nebraska. I still remember every detail of that day. Quite an experience. The pictures prove I'm lucky to be here. Omaha was never the same. I remember all the buildings and neighborhoods no longer there. Unfortunately, there was one death may she rest in peace. I lived in Omaha from 1972 until 2014.

I used to hang out with a storm chasing team for 6 months as when I was pmc and it was crazy shit to see and yet beautiful at sometime....glad you are okay and RIP to all lost
I was born in 1963 and grew up in a little area in Virginia that was destroyed by a twister in 1929. We are kind of 'history buffs' in my area; and when overhear new people ask about 'Weaversville, VA' and I am able to say...'I grew up there'.

I just moved here in Indiana from California two years ago & last Monday (8/29) was a serious storm & it was the first time I ever heard a tornado siren going. It gave me chills just to hear it. Wow!
Charlene, you should have been here (Bryant Arkansas) it was a tornado siren festival. They lit them up at least four or five times. There is a siren across the street and it had me take Tylenol and Advil. Stay safe.
And, just because you left California doesn't mean you have left earthquakes behind. There's a nasty fault line that hasn't really let off any energy for a while. The New Madrid Fault. There have been three noticeable shakes here in central Indiana in the past four decades. It's not the same as living on top of the San Andreas which I did for fourteen years.

In 1965, BEFORE any government announcements came out about 'climate change' or 'global warming', I could see for myself that the Winters were more severe, the Summers more brutally hot, tornadoes were increasing, hurricanes increased and reached further inland, volcanoes and earthquakes were more frequent, flooding increased, and weather patterns were perturbed. Movies like this take their material from past years, and aren't making this up. **Be prepared for things like this, because it will get a lot worse before it even begins to get any better.
But they also stated we were at the tipping point for an ice age.

I had a tornado jump over my house it came off the road through the woods you can see the path . This is a good movie.

I love this movie. Bruce Campbell is awesome in this film. Still nothing can beat Twister that stars the late Bill Paxton.

I've just finished watching Atomic Twister for the umpteenth time. It's a brilliant film during which I commented that I don't live in a country that has tornadoes but, a couple of weeks later, a small tornado hit a few miles from where I live leaving some damage. I heard it pass over my house and it was the eeriest sound I've ever heard and didn't know what the heck it was until I heard the news on my car radio. I'm in England and, to my knowledge, we've only had three incidents of tornadoes, but nothing like the magnitude shown in Atomic Twister. Just thought I'd say that before watching this film, and after reading the comments. Stay safe everyone. :)

@@TheRivrPrncess Terrific film. Are you in America? I only ask because perhaps you could answer me a serious question, which isn't meant to offend. Why would people choose to live in a known tornado area, in very flimsy wooden homes? I've never seen a wooden house here in the UK, apart from holiday homes which we call static caravans, as our homes are bricks and mortar but, when I visited friends in Missouri a few years ago, I was surprised to see all the (?) weatherboard homes, and theirs was one of them. Surely they're aware that such structures couldn't withstand a tornado hit? Obviously, I don't know the laws about domestic architecture over there, so I'm genuinely interested. I do know that these properties are extremely cheap to buy, or rent compared to those in the UK, so maybe they take that chance. Hope you don't mind my question. :)

Actually, a monolithic dome home has withstood hurricanes and tornados plus earthquakes and floods, so that is the reason I want one. There is a family in Florida who owns one, and when their neighbors all around them lost their homes to hurricanes, that family even got the people to come inside their home and be safe. There is a family in California who has a monolithic dome home, and it withstood a wildfire, and in fact, they even took in the firefighters who would been caught in that fire, and the only thing that happened to their home was the soot which had to be washed off, so yes, I do believe that monolithic dome homes can withstand anything.

I'm from East Texas. I have seen many tornados that bounced around us. Known several people who lost homes to it. They dont always sound like a train coming. The one my family was in was horrendous but we survived. Luckily we had little damage but several neighbors including my FIL's were damaged or lost. It's a nightmare I dont wish on anyone.
Well if you go to the Texas Drivers Licenses site, you can get your weather modification license. Kind of strange that I've been there and seen it and yet they still claim that chemtrails/weather modification/throwing chemicals in the air doesn't exist. Sure did help old Joe push his windmill china supplied farm out in port Aransas when he told tx they couldn't go over a certain electricity green usage right before the scifi snow dump on TX and then wrongfully blame ercot.

I agree with you because the tornado I was in on March 3rd of 2020 in Nashville Tennessee did not sound like a freight train to me at all... It sounded more like the engine of a 747 airplane. And the sound of the tornado itself was so loud that it almost drowned out the tornado warning sirens that were blaring. And also amazes me how much destruction can happen in 30 to 40 seconds worth of time!!
@@hollyh314 we lived in Florida and the first Hurricane we went through had tornadoes in it. While we were taking cover I asked my husband why was the planes from the Air Force Base leaving. But that was not the Air Force Base it was the tornadoes that was coming through with the hurricane. Sometimes these people that says it sounds like a freight train kind of gets underneath my skin. LOL
@@geniagrow2662 yes, Hurricanes can spawn tornadoes when they made landfall such as Ivan (2004) for example. He spawned about more than 100 tornadoes which puts Beulah (1967) on the second position of hurricane with most tornadoes that was spawned

@jim brewer That is true in a lot of places. But it is not as bad in my corner of the world. When you live in an insignificant poe-dunk town like mine, no one pays attention to you, so it's almost like living under the radar. Kids in my neighborhood play outside; ride bikes, play basket ball on the driveway, little girls drawing on the driveway with chalk. Even teenagers here walk, ride bikes or drive around on golf carts blaring music. They play outside until the heat of summer kicks in -- that usually being about June. You see we live in the swamp - wetlands is the official name; but it is the swamp, along the Gulf Coast of Texas. Everyone pretty much watches for strangers. If we don't recognize you, you will probably find yourself stopped by the local police. Quick story: We had a kerosene shop heater we no longer wanted so we put it to the side of the road; figuring someone would stop and take it. We did not think to put a sign on it though. Next day, I am upstairs sewing and looking out the window I see a truck stop and a young man get out. I smile -- good. But he just had it loaded when the police pulled up. I shouted to the husband; "Quick, get out there! The police think the heater is being stolen!" The husband assured the cop it was O.k. for the young man to take it, everyone got a laugh out of it. Turns out a neighbor saw the man and called the police. And, yes we had a unit patrolling (the Chief lives in our residential area so, patrol pass through often) and they got there that fast. So, yes it is bad in a lot of places but a lot of times it depends on where you live and what kind of people live there. For us, we are some of those 'evil' Christian types(being sarcastic) with a church on every corner. I will take Christian neighbors to 'woke' leftist neighbors any day. A main key factor is to stay clear of the big cities. Closest big city to us would be Houston which is more than two hours drive -- on a good day. You just got to find you a little pocket and hope it stays nice until you die. Good Luck.
@jim brewer No, it is not perfect here -- perfection does not exists any where. And yes there is Texas hospitality but it is being watered down. You see, you have to be born and raised here to be a Texan. Moving here to live does not make you a Texan. Too many are moving here and they do not have Texas hospitality. They are destroying the reputation of Texas because they are bringing their rude personality with them and other people are thinking that they are Texans -- but they are not. My neighborhood is not perfect -- far from it -- because transplants are moving in and they are not practicing Texas hospitality. But the rate of infiltration is slow -- so far. Some adapt and realize you get more flies with honey than vinegar; but many don't get it. They come here only for work, as their own state killed their job field. They come with an attitude, because they always looked down on Texans and made fun of us. They are here because they have to be here. Some leave as soon as they can, and we say don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you. As far as the police go, well everyone in my neighbor hood are working class -- mostly blue collar (construction). We work for what we have -- no one gives us anything; and so we will be damned that someone will come in and take it from us. So, we keep our police busy. The benefit of a small community is -- you don't keep the people happy, you don't keep your job. Police chief, fire chief, Sherriff -- you are looking at the 'good ole boy' system there. But, that being said, an area like ours solely depends on taxes. Piss off the tax base and the money moves away. We know this, so we use this. You have to make a community into what you want, and it takes everyone wanting it. So, we are not rich but we are not poor either. We work. And we fight to keep what is ours. Good luck to you, I do not know how old you are; but perhaps you are young enough that you will find an opportunity to improve your situation. Good luck to you and yours.

You dont see kids at all outside playing taking advantage of a beautiful day. Is the world that's going on now that makes them like that. These children in this generation gap is growing up with violence everywhere you turn.It isnt fair they do not get see what it is to grow up a normal world like generations before them. It breaks my heart seeing what these kids deal with from a day to day basis. They all have had their childhood wrongly robbed. It's sad to say.
The blonde woman from Washington...if you’re going in a rural place during tornado seasons wearing pants/jeans and comfortable shoes/boots it’s lifesaving same goes for the shirt be sure to have something with lots of pockets and that it’s very resistant and practical. Plus instead of a small bag use a backpack so it’s possible to put inside also First Aid basic tools a compass and possibly a radio talkie talkie to communicate with others people.

Edit I agree with you, and she went around all the time like she knows everything. For every situations and environments there’s a different way to dress and to behave, hiking, rucking, city sightseeing, fishing, climbing, going to a work meeting in office, swimming in plain water or heavy water, all of those activities are different from each others and requires different knowledge, different abilities, and most important different gears and different robe to wear. So irritating...

@@EM.1 Ah, well, welcome to Texas! I do not know how long you have been here, but I hope you have acclimatized to the weather. I also hope you have had the opportunity to explore the Hill Country. Lot's of Texas history there. Burnet County has the Long Horn Caverns -- you should try going there. A lot of history in those caverns. Including boot leg hideout during prohibition era; as well as it was used as an underground dance hall. And of course San Antonia is nothing but history. Bandera country is a popular dear hunting area. Fredericksburg was a city built by German Immigrants and has a beautiful down town -- a lot of German food and beer. Of course, I have no idea how well anything held up during Covid. It would be ashamed if we've lost it all. Any ways -- yes I am proud of my Texas -- can you tell? I hope your life is good and that your family are well.

From Oklahoma too. Came pretty close when the one went thru OKC/Moore in 1999. I was living in Norman at the time. Did have to drive thru the mess everyday going to work though. Some folks I knew lost everything and some a near miss. They are scary. I haven't actually seen one either, just the mess they leave behind.

I experienced my very first tornado ever on March 3rd of 2020 in Nashville Tennessee and let me tell you it was truly scary but amazing at the same time!! And it's something that I will never forget.

In 1996 I took my Mum on holiday to a holiday camp in Bognor Regis where they a 2 screen cinema, 1 film was Independence Day the other Night of the Twisters, Mum couldn't decide which film to see so we saw both, it was her first holiday since 1973 and these were the last films and holiday she enjoyed as she died the following year. So when watch films aliens and tornadoes I remember our last holiday together. RIP MUM ❤❤
In 1974 in Xenia, Ohio the morning of April 4, I was leaving to head back home in Wyoming. I didn’t even think of all the storms and rain hit that monster F-5. It wasn’t till I stop for the night I heard what happen behind me.
I remember that day as well.
I remember that I grew up in Southern Ohio that's when the big toronado outbreak came around.

I rememeber a twister (1973) that touched down nearby. I was awakened by the others quickly and rushed to the basement. It was over in a little while. The house was badly damaged. we survived the hit.
We went to the Led Zeppelin concert after .
I went through 2 tornadoes as a kid in Michigan. One in 1967, the other in 1969. Ran for the basement both times with friends (we were playing outside--summer vacation). Both parents at work. Took the roof off the house both times. When the Fujita scale was adopted in 1971, these tornadoes were classed as F2s. Lots of houses in our neighborhood lost roofs, windows, and trees and small outbuildings were destroyed. I live in northern AZ now. (Jan Griffiths).

@@someaveragemaxrubyfan8716 I was less than a year old then, but I remember my mom telling me about it when I was older. She said the storm was terrible, and couldn't go to work during it. Same with my dad. They both stayed home with me. (Jan Griffiths).
@@douglasgriffiths3534 i remember that the Detroit tornado of November 1957 was being called as windstorm due to no evidence of funnel forming and they (some of Weather Bureau meteorologist) said that it wasn't a tornado that hit Detroit

I enjoyed this movie. Seeing how they worked together trying to save people lives and Grandpa fighting the storm
In 1989 my 3 and 6-year-old daughters got to watch our home being trashed by the Loma Prieta earthquake in California from under the kitchen table with their mother.
For quite some time, even a large truck driving by scared the hell out of them. I feel I need to make a point, but there is no point to make...Shit happens.

@@dpflack1744 ......Oregon only gets about three tornados a year and they have wind speeds too low to do much more than break off tree branches and smash them into various things like houses.
I live in central Oregon and these wimpy tornados usually happen in Northern Oregon.
Oddly enough, active volcanos -- And tsunamis along the coast are a bigger threat. Mt. Hood is considered a major threat.
By far the biggest threat is the Cascadia fault that runs from Northern California up into Vancouver Canada.
The Japanese have records of a Tsunami crossing the Pacific Ocean and hitting Japan the last time it ruptured. FEMA warns that everything west of Interstate 5 is going to get trashed if it cuts loose all at once.
Then there's the Yellowstone Super Volcano, if that blows, all of North America including Canada (and to some degree the entire world) is going to be affected.
There's no such thing as a safe place. But our lives are so short compared to geological time the odds are in our favor.
I also was in that quake. I was in the area for a horse show which was to be that weekend. I had just unloaded my horse into his paddock when the quake hit. I had been in smaller quakes before, but my 16 year old horse had not. We lived in AZ. He was scared to death. I held onto the paddock fence till the quake ended. The show was cancelled, of course, and everyone got their entry fees back. I loaded up, and it took 2 days to get back to AZ. Aftershocks all the way, pretty much. I saw the damage that occurred on the news and in the paper when I got back home. It was horrible, especially the freeway that collapsed on top of the other one. And all the damage in the Marina district, and the bridge. I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. (Jan Griffiths).
Google put this movie on my plate for a second time (different uploader), with less than 2 months in between. Realized after a few minutes that I've seen it already. But couldn't bring myself to search for another movie and kept watching instead. Really like this one. Thanks for uploading.

While I was staying at a ranch outside of Odessa there were tornados, and some of them just dropped right out of a clear, blue, sunny sky. You don't always have to have storms for tornados to happen, so the so-called experts are definitely wrong. Animals know when bad weather is coming, so pay attention to them because they could just end up saving your life. There are people who listen to what their senses are telling them, and their senses can be a life saver also, I know this, because there are members of my family and I am one of them who listen to their feelings and my intuition which as not been wrong, and that has helped to protect us.
If they came out of clear blue sky with no clouds , Then most likely they were Dust Devils, We got them in Nebraska as well.

@@latinalover2715 The poster might have been talking about tornadoes that come out of the back end of a storm. Some survivors speak of how the sky looked as if the storm was almost over and then the tornado formed out of the remains of the storm. Some storm chasers and meteorologist even warn people about the back end of storms saying they might contain a tornado so the people need to remain cautious.
Never experienced a tornado like these. Once, a small one went across our back forty. It never touched ground but was strong enough to tear a branch off a pine tree. Which went through the back door window and landed in the kitchen sink about two feet from mom who was washing dishes.
The only thing I didn't like was that they need to get the sounds of Tornado down. Because let me tell you...those bastards sound like a fleet of locomotives...and the scariest feeling is hearing that sound at night with no lights.
The tornado that I was in on March 3rd of 2020 in Nashville Tennessee came at 12:42 a.m. and I agree with you the sound of them is something that cannot be duplicated. Everyone says it sounds like a freight train but to me it sounded like a 747 airplane jet engine and it was so loud that it drowned out the tornado warning sirens to where you could barely hear them. And it was over so quickly in less than 40 seconds. And when we finally emerged from our home after it was all over it was so eerie and nothing looked the same destruction every which way you looked and of course it being at night made it even more spooky!

If I were that mother, the second that tornado warning came over the radio me and the kids would have been in the basement.
One of the things I hate about these knock off tornado movies is how they all paint the storm prediction center as being incompetent. Some of the best forecasters and researchers work for them, and there is absolutely no way you will have a scenario where major tornadoes outbreaks are occurring and the storm prediction center doesn’t have risk categories put up, mesoscale discussions, and watches.

The siren that goes off, the train sound in the sky, if you think you're experienced with tornados, each time that happens, it's a new experience of fear. I have lived through them. Now I live with really stupid people in an Ohio city, and when the siren goes off, everyone goes outside to watch. I guess, it's pointless to hide.
The fact that the couple should've taken the wind seriously the first time. They chose to ignore it until it really started blowing. I really felt bad for the guy because his wife was blown away

i remember watching this as a kid on Fox i loved it at the time everyone was doing tornado movies after twister
Never experienced a tornado (thank you God), but a former boss had and years later, he said, his son still panics when the skies turn dark during storms. I wish this movie would have focused more on the 'people' aspect of those affected by such devastation of family, friends and property. Tornados come and go, but the after effects can last a lifetime for many. Less than 1/4 of the movie presented tornado effects and not much on the chasing... To those who have been through it -- sending prayers for your continued healing.
I pray you never experience one. I was an over the road truck driver and believe me it can move an 80,000lb vehicle. I've been out of trucking 22 years and to this day when the weather becomes severe, I start to have panic attacks. Stay safe where ever you live.
I think it focused good enough on those affected by tornadoes. I felt sad for them and cried as Ephraim was talking about his tornado experience and the man who was looking for his wife.

EF-0... very weak... but can still cause damage... and cause traumatic injury... trust me! I stood in middle of one... watched power line shred like spaghetti! 🥺😩

Yep and I saw those big steel towers snapped like a twig... Cell phone towers that look like pretzels... I ended up with a trampoline that I do not know where it came from wrapped around my tree!! And pieces of wood impaled into the side of cars!! That is something you will never forget!

we get them here in minnesota too. I have been activated by the governor for tornados in western Mn. Incredible power. we saw 60 + train cars full of coal flipped upside down and the coal stayed in the cars. a large cottonwood tree sent through the second story of an big house. another school exploded.. that one cut a path a mile wide from Fargo ND to Shevlin MN. 1976 if i remember right

Im surprised that the house in the 1st scene has a cellar, most were built on a slab, which is why a "storm cellar" was out back. I grew up in se Oklahoma and we didn't have a cellar like that
Having a basement or cellar has a lot to do with ground soil and how much rock and depth of water table. Either one will remove any possibility of building underground.
Also in the old days cellar was build as long as 2 years after the house was built. (Homesteading laws require different things and they only had 5 years to complete or loose the farm.)
Having been born in and also asked to travel often thru Tornado country I have been in many storms, but the one causing the most severe damage when I was young was an EF2 that tore thru Tinley Park, IL in the mid 60's, just before we moved to California. I remembered being in our basement listening to the insane sounds the wind and hail were making, and seeing non-stop lightning.
Our small vineyard, where we made grape jelly for our local stores in Tinley Park, was destroyed--but we were moving anyway. The home was a Cape Cod style home, as were all the homes in the town, and did well, but my brother's grammar school was destroyed when its roof was lifted by the storm, no one hurt, since the storm was at night.
So seeing this movie reminds me of those times, and even though I have been in worse natural disasters, including the '89 earthquake in Northern California and the '96 Mesocyclone complex that caused a large amount of damage in the western part of the Phoenix metro area, with 90 mph sustained winds that gusted over 100 mph, battering us for 45 minutes, I have not been in a Tornado like that in this movie, or the big ones that have hit Tornado Alley.
I only remember most, what happened to Homestead Florida in '92, as the largest known wind calamity I have ever known about in my lifetime, as well as the Oklahoma EF5 Tornadoes that ripped thru the state only months after I finished a systems contract near Oklahoma City.
You might be in a tornado if you see a clothes-washer fly across the highway. You might be in a tornado if you get passed by an ice chest at 75 mph.... I’m just warning ya.

I just stumbled on this movie. Never seen it or heard about it. It's a good movie 🎬 🎞. So far 2023 is really starting out with tornado outbreak in the winter. Unbelievable.
If I lived anywhere near a tornado area my house would be underground or inside a hill like a mound house. Actually scratch that, just would live somewhere else!

Lots of parallels in this movie to "Twister". A blonde leading actress, a storm chaser with instincts, an older lady with a dog, a device to put in the path of a tornado, and a competitor for the blonde's charms. This movie was every bit as good as "Twister". There was another tornado movie released also in 1996---"Night of the Twisters", and that was good too. I liked all 3 movies very much. (Jan Griffiths).

Nearly 30 years later. Everything this movie warned about is happening. Bigger hurricanes, longer droughts deadly tornados. Stronger thunder storms. But people failed to do anything about it.
Weather pattern change. We can't do anything about it. Better warning systems, better prediction technology, but nothing else.

It's a joke to believe that humans can control nature. I don't deny climate change, but it's pure folly to think anything we can do can make a difference. Over the course of history, man has adapted to change in climate not the other way around.
I know it's an old movie, but attention Hollywood film people... You can't assign an F-scale rating until after the storm has passed through. Even then, it will likely fluctuate along a tornado's path. Any characters with a meteorology degree would know this. 🙄
That's true---the tornado's strength is measured after the fact. An EF0 tornado can be a mile wide---an EF5 can be 100 yards wide. All depends on where the thing hits, and what it hits. Size really dosen't matter. (Jan Griffiths).
There was no assigning of an F-scale in this movie. They only guessed. But even people with a meteorology degree that knows what chasers look for concerning damage can still guess at what F(now EF-scale) damage a tornado might do.

I'm a new subscriber... I love any and all old made for TV movies from the '80s or '90s!! And I like the subject matter as well because on March 3rd 2020 I was in an F3 or F4(there's some debate on which one it is) tornado in Nashville Tennessee. And it doesn't always sound like a freight train because what I heard sounded like a 747 airplane jet engine. I could barely hear the tornado warning sirens because of the sound of the tornado itself. My ears were popping in my living room like I was sitting in an airplane. It was incredibly quick and lasted all of maybe 35 to 40 seconds but in that 40 seconds there was absolute destruction. When I finally emerged from my home I could not believe my eyes because every way I looked nothing looked the same! It amazes me how an entire house can be trashed completely but yet a porcelain teacup can still be sitting on the table without any damage whatsoever?!
1:20 the tornado at the beginning just came out of nowhere. The mother never saw it coming.

Quakes are a geological event, not a weather event. Still scary though, and deadly. I went through the Loma Prieta quake in 1989. (Jan Griffiths).

I remember when a tornado ripped through the town of Greensburg Kansas, and it completely wiped the town off the map. Tornadoes are not to be messed with. I lived through a tornado in May of 1999, luckily it didn't hit our house but it was two blocks away from us. All we received was blowing debris. God was watching over us that night.
I started watching this just to kill some time and darn if I didn't get sucked in (no pun intended). Turned out to be a pretty good movie. And no commercials!

Bittersweet movie...we still don't have a system that warns early enough. Never seen a real tornado but have felt the rath, of one.
Jumped in a swampy drainage ditch outside of Indy years ago. Odd smell & color just before twister touched down & spun construction materials all over. Siren went off down the road in Pendleton. Like a living thing that twister ascended into the clouds. That was it for that day.
It must be a traumatic experience to survive or confront a tornado. This film provides such situation with love, marriage, family ties and interesting filmmaking, an enjoyable movie.
It really is I was in tornado when I was around 10 and I can say it was the scariest experience I have ever been through in my life. 47 years later im still scared of bad storms.
A lot of people experience PTSD after surviving a tornado or any other natural disaster. I went through 2 tornadoes as a kid, and was home alone when they hit. Both parents at work, and summer vacation both times. I didn't panic, and ran for the basement in plenty of time. The tornadoes took the roof both times. The storms were 2 years apart. I suffered no lasting effects. (Jan Griffiths).

I have lived in Texas all my life and the Texas Panhandle for over 45 years. I’ve seen tornadoes, chased them and at one time I was afraid of them. The destruction has been mild to horrible, but at the end of the day staying calm and making smart decisions help save lives.
This isn’t “Twister,” but it’s still a great flick after all these years.
Side note: Amarillo looks nothing like that, it’s pronounced Dal-hart not Dahl-hart. And the geography is kind of skewed.
Releasing three days before Twister was a mistake. I didn't even know this movie existed.

Yes this story line is very close to the twister movie, wonder who had insight and ran with it. Twister came out a few months after this movie. Both movies have thier own charm. This one was focused more on the tornadoes & and trying to help offer more notice to save lives. Twister was much more action packed...
This movie came out the same month Twister did. Most of the plot of Twister was well known before it even was in theaters due to spoiler news articles. It is likely the makers of this film knew some things Twister would be about. One thing this movie did was show how little tornadoes are seen by storm chasers. Twister made it look like storm chasers see a lot of tornadoes on most chase trips. This movie was more accurate about that.
I watched Twister 13 times just in movie theaters alone, two times during first week
