Different season this year for me. Still a lot of 10,11, and 12lb fish but it was tough to get the higher teen fish. That being said... it was still a GOOD season!
Thanks Chris! You know me, a gluten for punishment. I actually like it when the conditions are tough. Seems like the fish like it better too. Will have to do some Euro nymphing this summer if the streams ever get to a manageable level.
Lol.. not even close. My Buddy Jeff catches more big fish than anybody out there and a lot of guys get them. Most of the guys I know personally so I know what they catch.
Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to get back out there to fish with you again. Pete you are the man at Pyramid and the most fun to watch cast bombs out there in any kind of weather. Well done and see you on the river soon.
Thanks Scott! Once again you come up and fish with me for a couple days a gets some good ones! Seems you always make the "highlight reel!". Looking forward to fishing with you this summer. Sounds as if your feeling better after the surgery and ready to go. I'm definitely jonesing to get out on a river!
@@pythomp8390 Can’t wait to go fishing with you soon. It will be fun to fish some new water and then come back and make the highlight video next season 😉
The population of fish is definitely down. The last 4 yr boom was from the plants from 2013 to 2016 when they planted 1.5 million fish. Since then they haven't been planting near as many fish. They're concerned they might overpopulate the lake which would severely impact the chub population. The number of fish caught this season, not just big fish but fish in general was way down for me and most of the guys I fish with. On the plus side, less fish equals bigger fish.
I fish everywhere, I've fly fished out there for 37 yrs and have a pretty good network of guys I know. We keep each other informed on where the bite seems to be happening.
I use a medium fast 8wt rod. It has a softer tip which I feel is way better for fighting the big fish. I wouldn't use anything lighter than an 8wt. If your line is in the water you have a chance of hooking a giant. You want to give yourself the best chance of landing that fish. There's a reason the big one always gets away and that's cause your not usually prepared to catch them.
@@pythomp8390 I was gonna guess 8 weight, I'm gonna have to "gun up" a bit... Those fish are bigger than the B run Steelhead I used to catch on the Clearwater....Thanx alot for the reply, hopefully see ya on the water some day-
@@roblacitinola866 I dont know about that I have caught 48 inch Steelehead on The South Fork of Clearwater just below Grangeville Those Cuts are def Large but so our those B Runs on the Clearwater
Most incredible video I've ever watched from Pyramid Lake
Thanks! Much appreciated!

What a great video Pete. It’s amazing the dedication you have no matter what the weather might bring you

Another awesome season man, great catches!
Thanks! Definitely a grinder of a season. I put in a lot of days but it paid off with some big ones!
Ya the low water changed some things I’ve noticed. This years should change it back.

What are you using for a bait
You do Good Job
Thankyou! I appreciate the view!
Is this the one in california
No, 30 miles outside Reno, Nevada
There are no Stripers in Pyramid lake Nevada.
Why dont you ever see people using boats or pontoons here?
People do but the water can get rough so you need a bigger boat to handle it
Got it! Thanks.@@landonbender7014
No water bbys
Fabulous as always.... What weight Fly rod do you recommend out there? I'm guessing stout....
