I come from Melee and, ironically, Skullgirls was my first traditional fighting game that helped me really appreciate fighters so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart ❤️
Thats great! Never got into it cause of gatekeepers and dumb controversy but i always watched any extreme majors. I play many 2d fighters and i gotta say ive never seen one quite like Skullgirls
Skullgirls is one of, if not the most, underrated and underappreciated fighting game out there. Killer Instinct and Skullgirls deserve so much more love.
Deep respect for Skullgirls and it's community. Despite all of the bad times where the game would of just died off, and it manages to bounce back surprising everyone every time while bringing in something more.

Skullgirls Mobile is legit. If you're a fan of the aesthetic but terrified of getting hard bodied online or can't put in the input for touch of death combos, Mobile has your back with a simplified system and extra rpg-esque stats thrown in.

I played a few of them when I was younger, but skullgirls is the one that brought me back and helped me get to grips with all sorts of mechanics and character types. it was so cool getting to see Sharpie here as well as learning who Beowulf is (he's my one of my top picks). THANKS FOR THIS!!!!!!
Bruh this is still my baby. I wasn't the greatest by no means but I fell in luv and once DLC characters like Big Band cameout I was in. This game is what makes me want to either make or help make a fighting game. Excellent video, might watch it 10 more times and so my peeps this awesome video. Also Get Into Fighting Games clip getting in was perfect I member that fight, it ended on that beat.

I'm really curious how (if) Mike Z and Alex Ahad will be addressed in the doc. They basically founded Skullgirls, but they've now both been ousted (for good and valid reasons). Just from a documentary point of view, how do you address their part in the history? Personally, I don't think they can really be ignored, but they need to be caveated. It's a tricky topic.
Yea its a very awkward topic, they both contributed so much, esp in tournaments where Mike Z commentated the dev experience gave way to very analytic moments.
@@MicroBihon from what I understood, he was extremely hostile to his co-workers about design changes at whatnot. I somewhat understand that considering it's basically the property he invented, but I had heard that he was basically voted out of the company because he was so hostile.
I mean, you can just insert them at the "Humble Beginnings" part of the doc and, never, ever, mention them ever again. That might seem harsh, but the baggage they're gonna bring in in any otherpart of the doc might sour the rest of the video.
Im mainly interested because I heard the game is hard but the community seems dope, new to all these fighting games and to the FGC I guess, I'm interested in hard games because I like the challenge of getting better.
I came from smash ultimate, and I downloaded SGM because my brother was playing it. When I picked up Annie and got completely combo'd across the stage in a mirror match in SGM versus, I knew I'd be hooked. As soon as Annie released on 2nd Encore, I bought the game. I thought it would be just a bit of messing around; I never thought I'd be able to combo or even do motion inputs. Now I've played for like 50 hours and I enjoy it so much. Each time I get mixed or block a mix on reaction, I get such a rush. Platform fighters are cool and all, but these airdashers hit different
SG is such a sick game, i hope more people pick it up and give it a shot. i understand some people dont like the reset heavy gameplay but you can do so much cool stuff, its mad fun.
As a Skullgirls Mobile content creator, I didnt know how much impact the mobile version did for the success of Second Encore. That's actually very cool to know.

Good to see the hype train once again leave the skullgirls station because I can't get enough of the 2d artwork the sound design the wacky character animation the fast paced game play God I've skullgirls one of the best fighting games I've ever played
"Lets you play the game how you feel" Then does the game let you play defensive mid-to-close range ironwall, shutting down rushdown (even turtling at times) and rewarding winning interactions with good damage without needing to do long reset-filled combos? Because most modern FGs don't allow that and even punish it.
Very much so. Mike Z and Skullgirls are now completely departed from one another. I'm not sure what the DLC plan is but the main platforms (Playstation and PC) are definitely still alive.

SG is such a sick game, i hope more people pick it up and give it a shot. i understand some people dont like the reset heavy gameplay but you can do so much cool stuff, its mad fun.
