  • India continues to suffer from heavy rains and floods in recent days! The resulting chaos in Maharashtra resulted in 84 deaths and 66 injuries. According to disaster management officials, 249 villages were severely affected by flooding in the Gadchirol region. 35 relief camps have been opened for people displaced by the situation. The state's dam reservoirs have been more than half full in recent rainy days.
Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknat Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the flood-affected areas and pledged to provide all possible assistance to the people. Meanwhile, Shinde also said that the government will soon allocate the Rs 50,000 benefit amount to farmers who regularly pay
    crop loan.
About 180 animals died. So far, the state government and the National Disaster Response Force have evacuated 5,968 people from various locations. The Indian Meteorological Department said that increased rainfall activity is likely to continue over the Konkan region (including Mumbai) and adjacent areas of the Madhya Ghat of Maharashtra.
The weather department also issued a current situation warning for the Pune, Satara, Solapur, Sangli and Kolhapur districts of Maharashtra, predicting moderate to heavy rain in isolated locations in the coming days.
Due to heavy rains, authorities have ordered all schools, colleges and private institutions/offices in the Gadchiroli area to remain closed until further notice.
According to the latest report, more than five people have died in rain-related incidents in recent days and 95 people have been evacuated due to heavy rain that hit the Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Nashik and Palgar districts of Maharashtra.
Most of the evacuations were carried out in the areas of Gadchiroli, Nashik, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri and Raigad.
The Mumbai police, on the other hand, have issued a plea to motorists to be careful, despite reports of waterlogging and traffic congestion in several areas of the city. “According to the forecast in some places in Mumbai, heavy and very heavy rains are likely in the near future. We ask Mumbaikar to be careful when traveling and follow the messages for further assistance or guidance,” the Mumbai Traffic Police wrote.
The authorities will take measures to develop bills that will take into account climate change in the construction and reconstruction of infrastructure and housing stock.
