We lived in Romeoville back in the early 1970's. I remember going to the Rialto Theater to see "The Godfather" back in 1971 or 1972. We lived kind of close to the Joliet Prison back then off of Route 53 and Route 66. We went to Del Rhea's Chicken in Countryside often and also White Fence Farm. We lived very close to that restaurant.
Will I choked up when you did. Your dad is right there with you and Dawn. Wearing his hat and just thinking about him puts him there with y’all. I’m enjoying all the stops along the way. I see now why you plan on a month. God bless you both and keep you safe on this endeavor!! Love to you both

Two comments, first of all I am sad about the signs coming down, all this history needs to be preserved ! Second....I have always heard of Route 66, but never gave it much thought, but, Omgosh, I am going to read up on it and study the route and find photos !!!!! Loving this road trip,Guys! Will,you are getting to do something not many can. You are taking the iconic trip your Dad always wanted to do,in his memory and document it all for the world to see. It will always be on the net. I've learned a lot this past year. Just like your dad,We all put things off until someday when things are better. Well,some times that day never comes and we look back and wish we'd done something back when things were better. I am so happy for y'all for doing this trip now while you can still enjoy it. God Bless and safe travels. So far,you've stayed in a couple of sketchy motels that would have made me nervous. My door would for sure be booby trapped before I went to sleep.

My aunt and uncle drove to California in 1956, so I am assuming Route 66 was the way! I still have slides of their trip so I will have to look at those! They traveled quite a bit in their day! Now, watching you, I want to! This trip will teach many of us about your journey!
