Hey Will and Dawn! Unfortunately, Dean Walker wasn't the inspiration for Tow Mater! The real man who inspired the character was Douglas ”Mater” Keever, a construction worker from Sherrills Ford, N.C. He's a regular at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte. You can read all about him in a 2006 article at the Entertainment Weekly website. He and a friend of his also did the two voices of the motor homes near the beginning of the movie! Besides that guy pulling your leg, I loved the video! I'm really enjoying your trip!
So many hidden treasures...i adore small towns, they take me back to my childhood when thing's were just simple..thank you Will and Dawn for taking us along on another amazing adventure, can't wait till the next!!
I enjoyed this video..my uncle had a old gas station ⛽we went there when I was a little girl and I got a old coke in a bottle and a candy bar...Thank you for the route 66 video, Have a great day God bless y'all....🙏👍❤
This has been an awesome video full of interesting stops on Route 66! Mater was cool! We love the movie Cars! Crazy Legs was a great part of the video! He seemed full of information! The world needs more of these kind of engaging people! We are really enjoying your Route 66 videos! We don’t want them to end! 🙏🏻for safe travels
Loved this video. ❤ It was great to see the original tow mater truck and the real tow mater who was the inspiration for the character. Tow mater is my favorite character in the Cars movie. It was also really neat to see Mickey Mantle's home. Thanks for another great video. Can't wait to see whst adventures lie ahead. Stay safe. God bless.
What an amazing journey you two are on. Will, I’m sure your dad is looking down beaming with pleasure. Thank you so much for taking me along in your back seat. Love you guys back. Prayers for a safe journey ahead.
All the old buildings are so cool. They sure don't make them like they used too (with personality to them). The CARS were awsome too. Rest up, you still have a ways to go. Thanks for sharing!!
My neck of the woods. Too bad you couldn’t have come a week later. The Tulsa State Fair starts at the expo where the tall oilman is. Hope everyone was friendly to you in Tulsa. Been loving your videos. Thank you for sharing. 👍❤️
Oh wow what an awesome vid today!! Getting to see the inspiration for Towmater and the garage!! Then the other characters from Cars!!! This may be my favorite one. God bless and prayers for continued safe travels!!!!
Speaking of trailers, weren't ya'll looking at trailers at one time? Can you travel the 66 route with a trailer? If ya'll had a trailer your trippin would be unlimited!!! Great video!! Yes, loved seeing the "Tomater" guy!! Looks like he gave ya'll some good info!! Ya'll are doing a fantastic job on this trip!!!!! Lovin it!!!!!
Lots of interesting locations guys. We visited Joplin, just after an EF-5 tornado, back in 2011. I will always remember that trip, never saw that much destruction before in my life. We rode a little bit of 66 on that trip too😀. Good stuff👍
I noticed that the Ku Ku Cafe had “Calf Fries” on their sign. It would have been interesting to stop and sample those! Enjoying ever update. Stay safe out there!
Love ❤️ your route 66 trip back in the day when life was simpler . Love the older buildings and into the buildings to see the cool things. I won’t miss any of you videos on this trip. Love ❤️ ya both. Love ❤️ from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Great segment of the trip Will and Dawn. Thank you for taking me to my dad's and my baseball idol's home. New Yankees are our team. He would have loved seeing Mickey's home. Thank you.
I just love riding along with you! Mickey Mantles house shows you that you can come from humble beginnings to greatness with a devoted father helping you.
Loving your vlogs. The fixed up gas stations are great...Cars inspiration ! Hubby and me want to do this in the next couple years. Thank you Will and Dawn
Wow what a awesome journey. So I love this Route 66 trip. I would had never seen any of this if not for y’all sharing with us. Only Oklahoma . We lived in Oklahoma when Army stationed us there. Hottest state we’ve lived in.
Really enjoyed seeing all of the inspiration for the movie CARS. Our grandson was at the right age at the time to enjoy The CARS series. We enjoyed it right along with him. I am enjoying the direction you are taking from Chicago to The Santa Monica Pier. The only state I have not visited that is on Route 66 is New Mexico.
It's so cool to see the change of topography as you go to a different state! The hilly regions of Illinois are far behind you and the land has flattened out in Kansas! Look out for tornadoes and wicked witches!
Alright Will and Dawn...let's see where today's adventure takes us...i'm having a blast seeing all the places y'all are taking us to!!! ok, let's do this👍
🚗Down the road to another great stopping place 😃 Lots of iconic historical places.....At least you did not meet up with a 🌪 Cool what you are doing with the hat and pins...Your dad continues to watch you and follow along, as he would not have missed this trip for the world😇 Thanks for continuing to share in your adventures🐾🦊🐺
So much fun. We did stop at Delgadillo’s Snow Cap in Seligman that the Personality of Towmater told you about. Delgadillos is quirky and well worth the stop. Thanks for letting all the YITS family tag along your road trip.
The Bonnie and Clyde house is really interesting. From what I've watched and read, their "death" car is a short detour from CA route 66 in Primm NV. It seems to rotate between about 3 off, off, off strip casinos.
Looks like you guys have been go go go! Thanks for the videos. I oook forward to them all day long. It’s my treat when I sit down at the end of the day 😊
Around 1982 ish, My Mother got an autograph from Mickey Mantle in the Monroe regional airport. He was on his way to teach kids at a baseball camp when my Mother spotted him at the ticket counter. We were several feet behind him ,& My parents were so excited that they could not contain their selves . I yell ed out "Who is Micky Mantle?" Lol.. My parents were so embarrassed bc Mom & Dad really wanted an autograph. Needless to say, Mickey was very generous & chatted w Mom for awhile as well as sign a piece of paper for her.

Was that an Okie-style burger, with onion ribbons grilled into the bottom of the patty, or just a burger with onions on top? The Okie style takes some practice, but is probably really good eating
I got a feeling we aren't in Kansas anymore! 🥰....love the pins Your dad would be so happy and proud!
I wish those old gas stations were operational.. so people could experience the full service they got back in the day!
