    Yep. I would love to see another review of Sankey magic. I too am a fan of Jay's.

    Excellent and honest review. Thanks!
    Also, the tattoo effect is essentially “Third Choice” in Corinda’s 13 steps. That effect uses playing cards.

    On your performance of reconstruction you missed the lighter part wich I think is the best part of it because it leaves the shadow of the removed pip.

  • @kyleleon85
    @kyleleon85 2 роки тому +9

    Craig, using a lighter to "burn" or "melt" the pip off is WAYYYY better. The ghost image of the smoke and image of where the pip used to be is such a KILLER souvenir and memory of what happened. Consider it.

      I agree, that's the strongest finish I can imagine. That smoke outline of the pip is a brain fryer , and on their signed card to keep.....perfect souvenir

    (Final Cut) 'doesn't feel like a full product or trick in itself' - it was originally included as one of the routines on either 22 Blows to the Head or Hemispheres of the Mind, so it's definitely a recycled idea. That said, it's a classic. I saw it first in Kingfisher's Pocket Book of Magic by Peter Eldin, under the name 'Clippo'. I perform it using a DVD case with the sleeve removed, and with a list of movies. Might work well as part of a confabulation routine? When I open the DVD case up, I set the theme tune off, and reveal that the movie (Ghostbusters, in my case) matches. I too wrestled with Leaving Home for many months, and never got consistent to the strike/switch. I picked up Mark Leveridge's Ring & String DVD shortly afterwards, and have been performing the ring and string moves from that ever since. Keep up the great work Craig :)

    Good review special 👍. The thing about Jay Sankey is that he is very hit and miss

    • @bernmar
      @bernmar 2 роки тому +3

      What’s your point bro? All creators have hits and misses. Jay has had far more hits than misses over the decades. Just read his 3 volume Definitive Sankey trilogy and you’ll realize the debt magic owes this creator

    • @mr.harmon2745
      @mr.harmon2745 2 роки тому

      @@bernmar sorry but l disagree. Christ Congreave is a brilliant creator, can you name a bad trick of his. Whereas they are some dreadful creators who only release rubbish. And finally creators like Jay Sankey who are 50/50 Hits and Miss. Its only my opinion though

    • @michieltummers1303
      @michieltummers1303 2 роки тому +2

      @@bernmar exactly, just walk around with a thumb tip for fanmail, a paperclip with a deck of cards, some half dollars for slow motion coins across and you'll do miracles. Sankey is sooooo good and his three volumes are brilliant, I still flip through them😎

      @@michieltummers1303 yes I’ve been a Sankey fan for decades and he’s put out some amazing stuff. I regret selling my definitive Sankey set and trying to get one back but no luck 🤷🏽‍♂️

      have to agree, i love sankey but i can do like 20 of his tricks with the exact same method, like just a switch

  • @klisher
    @klisher 2 роки тому

    I find that with Jay Sankey, i like the invention and the routines but (and this is from watching his youtube too) The method seems too apparent. (writing this after the infinity war poster routine, but same goes for the key and the card pip trick too) and not entirely sure it would fool people. I do feel there's a little bit of ego at play to not think that people can see through those methods.

  • @iamSTYNG
    @iamSTYNG 2 роки тому

    I would say the movie poster thing should be a free UA-cam tutorial on Jays channel. I think it is a shame he is charging money 💰 for it.

  • @m1sterrattles764
    @m1sterrattles764 2 роки тому

    That movie poster trick is essentially a totally well known force that he’s used to predict a movie but it could be anything.
    That’s not a trick he should be selling.
    The tattoo trick worries me with its practicality. We know these are d….. s…. Force cards and you are reliant on the spec not to mess up that shuffle and pick a card and put it in the envelope.
    Coin case trick is decent although I’m not sure the first glimpse of the coin case in the wallet is convincing.

  • @kyleleon85

    I am glad Jay's tutorials are no frills. Fuck frills. Before video, you would read the methods and explanations for tricks in a book - literally as dry as it gets. Why is it necessary to make trailers and tutorials look like Hollywood movie productions? Everyone raves about fancy packaging and foil stamped boxes shit comes in. Who gives a fuck. The value is in the teaching, not the $5,000 DSLR camera and studio umbrella set-ups.

    Sorry but I never buy any Jay Sankey product ever again. I bought something as a beginner some years ago and I received a rubberband with a popsicle stick and a safety pin in a plastic bag with a stcker on it with a link to a video from Jay sitting on a couch and a perfekt view between his legs. I was extremly disappointed ☹️

  • @dvandenhove
    @dvandenhove 2 роки тому

    So Jay is still releasing stuff that's mostly solid, sometimes underwhelming and rarely anything new in plot or method.
    Has he stopped drinking in public yet? Because last time I saw him live in Blackpool, he walked onto the stage while chugging a beer. Not played for laughs or anything, but just because he could.
