my friends dad bought me an orange dsi for christmas 2010 and its probably the greatest gift someone has ever given me. nowadays the camera and microphone apps arent really worth using but they let me document a section of my childhood without me even realising it at the time

I don’t think the DSi isn’t worth buying anymore with DSiWare being shut down.
It is worth it. Pokémon was one of those games I couldn't stop playing. If you're someone who is working several hours and don't have the money or time for the new consoles, it's worth it.
I still own a red dsi, tbf it still works very well considering how old the console is. I loved the camera because at the time I only had a Nokia brick and the camera was rubbish. I’m more glad I went for the dsi so I can look back at the memories that I created. I never went online or used it to its full potential though.

Bro when I found my old picture collection on my dsi I straight up teleported back to my childhood for a good three hours. Hundreds of photos with old classmates and various cars driving past, old pets. Let’s just say this system means a lot❤️
I bought a dsi and a couple of games at a thrift store for five dollars. I played around with it and put it away and forgot about it. I picked it up again recently and the battery was still charged. Five years later! They don't make stuff like this anymore.

i loved plaing the professor layton series, honestly i could not stop playing it and wrecking my head to solve the puzzles. I have a blue version and still works.
This is not a review of the DSi in 2023, this is nostalgic reminiscing about the DSi's launch. Utter waste of time if you want to know about the current state of DSi support/software and how it compares to other options.
Just bought one after finding a local deal on one in great shape for $40. Looking forward to using it!

I still got my small light blue DSi and I've been ordering some games to play on it, and I actually found my sisters old DS Phat in her closet in a carrying case recently along with some games that were in the zipper compartment of the case that interested me 😊
I have the exact same dsi and I am thinking of selling it in the year we are in now. How much would it be worth today? There are a few dents in my dsi and the volume buttons don't work but the games and the dsi itself still work just fine.
Its still solid. You can listen to music, take photos, play great games, and NOSTALGIA. Yes i was born after the 3ds. Yes i love the dsi.
the most annoying thing about stuff that's thought of as retro is when i get into them as a complete newcomer, whenever anyone talks about them one third of the video is going on and on about how retro and nostalgic a given thing is without actually talking about what the thing is. i mean at least you have the other two thirds of the video and it can be a lot worse but yeah this is a thing i repeatedly run into in this fiekd
This is the one to buy in 2023, cheaper than a ds lite, no flashcart required. Can play gba games well with homebrew. Yet people still buy the ds lite over it.
I had 4 different DS Lites and LOVED them in my childhood… until my sister got a DSi and I was JEALOUS. Really wanna pick one up on eBay and relive my childhood! I miss 4th and 5th gen Pokemon games lol
I still own my black DSI and ususally just play mario on it every once and a while, good as a "Yeah i own that" thing but not really worth it compared to the 3DS or 2DS
Despite it obviously being inferior to the newest games we have currently available in 2023, I still wish to buy this.

I don't think it will stop working. I have a knockoff r4 card with an sdhc card in it, and I'm connected to the Internet, and it works completely fine
@@dinsokwokk4032 ohhh, i asked this coz the last time I'd updated my dsi was in 2015 ig(old r4 stopped working) and after that never connected to the internet since I bought the new r4 sdhc that time. But i remember that my old r4 worked on the dsi until I updated the consoles version

It's only worth buying if you have nostalgia for it or if you want an old fashioned camera.
if anyone does plan to mod their dsi, make sure that you know what you are doing and don't use videos on youtube because installing unlaunch can corrupt your ram data that could make your console completely unusable which can be fixed but can take a while to

Getting a dsi is a waste of money. You can just get the ds lite that plays both gameboy advance and ds games. Dsi is only worth getting for collection purposes or if you have nostalgia for the console and can’t go without it
But DSi has much better buttons, better hinge design (don't break so easily) and it can be hacked without R4 card
Dsi is cheaper then a dsi lmao. And you can mod it.
dsi is still THE way to play ds games. the 3ds display makes ds games look super washed out even with the trick that downscales to the original resolution. secondhand dsis are dirt cheap and a breeze to homebrew, if you want to play ds games and want them to look as good as possible, this is the way to play them.

This certainly ain't worth it in 2023 for entertainment as there are so many other options now since those have been discontinued that it doesn't really make logical sense anymore unless you are a collector. May as well get Steamdeck, switch and other Steamdeck like devices that came out recently

Honestly I think it depends on the person, chances are a lot of people will agree with you while a lot won’t. I think some people like me just really enjoy the nostalgic and simple entertainment it can bring to the table. Steamdeck and Switch are both really cool, but I guess for me they just don’t feel as “authentic” I guess?
