Yeah, I love it out there. I like being up above the water, esp. when the water is clear, so that I can see better what is underneath the water.

Great video as usual PF, and thanks for the shout out! I went fishing that same day and caught over 30 jacksmelt off the beach, not a single bite from anything else. Interesting how even hundreds of miles away people are catching (or not catching) the same fish on the same day. Nature is weird.

Cool. That is awesome. Yeah, some things that in happen in Nature have no explanation.

Ahoy there Pacifica fisherman. It's been a while. First let me begin by saying how elegant you look. This is the first time I have seen the fashion forward side of you as opposed to the utilitarian side. As usual you pick the best spots with respect to beauty and location, and thus far you have always indicated where you were. But perhaps you will let us know in Part II. It's very interesting that you have a friend (a very good one) whose name you do not know. I have had one or two in my time, and I didn't know their names either. I suppose that part of the fun was that I didn't know their name but I knew who they were... very good people. As always I hope things are no worse than ever at the triple nickle.

GWC (Grey Whale Cove) - one of my favorite beaches that is very close to where I live. As for the fashion, I just needed a shirt with a collar to help block that summer sun. I looked in my closet, and that shirt I have had for a few years, but have probably only worn one or twice. It has a nice collar on it. I used to have a "Sundays Afternoon" hat which would keep my neck out of the sun, but they sold their business out to someone else and I heard the new owners don't make the same quality product as before. This new hat I am wearing is made out of paper, and I bought it at the Sporting Goods store. It is very comfortable and doesn't blow off my head even though it doesn't have a chin-string. Fits snug without discomfort. I like it a lot and it has been holding up well this entire season. lol with the Triple-Nickel - same as always! Good to hear from you as always.

I was there the same day around midday and caught a big jack smelt, probably around 15-18”. That was all I got all day

Yeah, that's really good sized. When they get 18 inches and over, even the Pelicans stop their descent to the water and pull back. I hit a school once when they were 18 inches and over, and it was very interesting and even funny to see the Pelicans flinch and pull back a few feet away from the water, as they decided to go find another school or go dive-fishing somewhere else. lol. I'll try to find a photo of the smelt I took home that day. This was before my You Tube days

Just saw it. Your a lucky dude living by the coast. Just listening to the sounds of waves is great . But the sea smell & tight lines...there's nothing like it. I'm sure the fish was excellent.

I ended up giving the whole lot away to an old friend, and it really made his day. I saw that I was going to get busy with some things this week, so after cleaning them up that night at Pillar Point Harbor cleaning table, I put them in the freezer and then gave them to my buddy a few days later. But there will be more Jack Smelt for sure. I think the next batch I will cook up some beer battered smelt fillets. Anyway, I touched back base with my buddy this afternoon and he said his girl deep fried them up and they were good!

Great vid PF, you ever catch good sized rockfish from that spot? I always only catch small perch and jacks from GWC, then again, I never fish from the rocks like you lol

A few years back, I remember one Saturday when I caught 2 Cabezon from the sand/surf there on sand crabs. Yeah, that doesn't happen that often. If you get closer to the rocks on either side (north or south), I have also caught Lingcod, both types of Greenlings and Cabezon. More often than not, though, it is a Perch beach with the occasional Striper. There is also a set of rocks that are mostly hidden under the water there, about 2/3 the way to the north side, and those rocks go out about 30 or 40 yards. You might find Rock Fish in there once in awhile.
