Great informative video. Water has gotten inside the light fixture for me which probably means I will need to change the gasket. Hopefully not a full replacement part.
Thanks for the comment! I replaced the gasket on mine and had good results from it for a few years before I traded the truck towards a different one. Even if the gasket doesn't hold up for an extended period, it's inexpensive compared to the entire light housing and could be replaced a few times if need be to keep the water out. I originally did this repair because I was seeing water making its way into the cab (staining on the headliner), but quickly learned that it was also allowing water into the brake light assembly as well and THAT was messing with the trailer brake sensors in the truck (I was getting an alert in the dash very frequently) and this was never mentioned anywhere that I had seen as a way to address that specific error.
Thanks for the comment! Generally, the gasket seemed to have held up well. I didn't notice any additional staining in the cab of the truck over the ~three years after the replacement. I've traded the truck off at this point, so I won't be able to tell exactly how long it lasted! Don't forget to subscribe!
Thanks for the comment! And, good tip. Personally, I would have preferred for it go back -in- more easily than anything else. :) Don't forget to like and subscrbe!
Hi sir there 2 sizes of same company kits can you please confirm which one you use, one is 0.2 inch thicker and one is 0.17 inches i have 2016 chevy silverado
Thanks for the reply here and the question - sorry for the delay! The kit I bought has a .2 inch gasket, so it would be the slightly thicker one. Don't forget to Like and Subscribe!
i replaced the whole assembly due to cracked lens cover, and have same issue with those metal clips not snapping into place. did you get go back and try to get them to pop into place?
i double checked the clips, and it looks like they did get locked in, it is just the new gasket is really spongy and the assembly is not as snug as the original.
Thanks for the comments... Mine never looked like they fully seated, but it hasn't leaked. So, I suspect the same as you - the gasket is thicker and less compressible.
Hi there, and thanks for the question! I updated the description above with some more details about it. I used a gasket from a seller/company called MOFORKIT and bought it off of Amazon. Current price is under $15. Hope that helps... Don't forget to like the video and subscribe!
Thanks for the question! So far, so good! We have had some -serious- patches of rain over the course of the summer, and zero issues with any water getting into the cab or staining the headliner. The only thing that I haven't looked at specifically is whether or not any water has gotten inside of the lamp assembly again.

Informative video! Any updates on the gasket? Any leaks?

If you start at the bottom of the lens and lift upward, it comes off without much resistance.
