Yes, I think so too - although I wonder if you've seen the Herod in the original, 1973 movie!? There's a lot more physicality and energy in this rendition, and that keeps it interesting!
@@nancyayers6355 wow I didn't know anyone had seen my comment lol, so sorry for an excessively late response! I have to confess, I am an obsessed fan of Superstar as well as Andrew Lloyd Weber, Tim Rice, and on and on and on!! I have converted more than one person to my side lol if you have the passion and love of music and art and emotion...............a lifetime supply!!!
This version is very well arranged and mixed, and a great performance all around. Great vocals, every instrument audible - I would love to have seen this one in person!
Wow, he's good. I admit, it's different from the other Herods I've seen, but it's still great! He has a strong voice and really gets into character. Bravo!
I have been watching videos all morning of jcs because my theater is putting it on and I came across this and loved it so much I died so thank you for making me laugh so hard!
I've never taken it as an insult. Besides, to paraphrase John Waters, it's nice that there is a role that is guaranteed to the fat girl or the drag queen.
get out of my chair! hahaha this actor took the funny side of herod and took it as a licence to kill :) he is overdramatic but it only adds to the song and makes it his own, two tumbs up!
Haha. Fred Johanson, who was Pilate in the version you're referring to, was in Les Miserables as well.... but I think they were in different productions.
I vacillated between like and dislike, and landed on the side of like. I really think this is a fun interpretation of what is arguably the best number in JCS. Though in my head, Herod is Elvis, not Richard Simmons (showing my age here).
Woooooooooow The guy is so amazing!! I was herod in the play of my high school and I was pretty proud of myself but after seeing this I feel so inferior xDDD But what I love about this heroid is that he has a lot of energy, grat singing skills and he exagerates perfectly If I could I would marry him!!!
AAAAAHHH thanks so much for putting this up, one of my favorites from this show. The Amstetten production looks awesome! Do you have "Simon Zealotes", too?
Furthermore, because Judas's role--like Herod's--is written for a high tenor, it is simple to cast with a woman actress. Finally, the crux of the show is the stark contrast between Judas and Jesus, and I think that contrast would be much more evident if they weren't both played by men.
Please, PLEASE upload Hosanna! Who else is with me that wants to see how awesome a scene and song this group did (I especially want to see Drew's participation in it XD)
@teasipping Hm... it depends I guess... I'm pretty sure I saw some versions of The Phantom of the Opera sung in German, but there are some that are played as the original. I'm not even sure if I saw just some demo songs of TPO or if it was the original thing (I know the movie was in German - Uwe Kröger sung it), but they ones I remember now are in English!
I've seen more Herod's than I can remember --- THIS IS THE BEST EVER. I wish I could see the whole show
Juliet Marotzke the whole show is on UA-cam. Search for jcs austria 2005

Simply the best "Herod's Song" I've ever seen staged. Perfect blend of whimsy and freak show. A Phillipino Herod!! TOO much!
**Filipino pride intensifies**
@@vicentehizon6202 his name? Tried research, Brother Vincente but no results, I'm also a Filipino too
A really different and interesting interpretation of the character, and superbly sung! Bravo!
This version is very well arranged and mixed, and a great performance all around. Great vocals, every instrument audible - I would love to have seen this one in person!
This is the best performance I have seen of this song
Pehton (d one who played Herod) is my neighbor and childhood friend in Manuela Las Pinas Philippines....sure proud to be Pinoy
Pehton? His full name pls?
This is by far the very best Herod's Song on You Tube.
such a good herod 5/5
What a superb performance, I get such joy seeing each artist perform their own unique takes on this masterful piece.
Damn I love this Herod
The most exotic Herod and best voice I've ever heard in this part. I stage the South African version of JCS back in 1984.
"I'm getting bored now!" Hahah!
He's like an Aztec Cheif Herod. I love it!
this is the best interpretation for me so far. it's so fun and insane, i love it.
Wow, he's good. I admit, it's different from the other Herods I've seen, but it's still great! He has a strong voice and really gets into character. Bravo!
Excellent interpretation.
he just having so much fun
What an extremely original interpretation of this song! Love it!
"Get out of my chair!!! Blood!! Blaghagha!!"
XD
I demmand a DVD of this production. It's the greatest one out there.
I can never help but laugh when Herod(especially this one) gets to the 'Aren't you scared of me' bit. It's like...no....no I'm not. ;)
The best of the best of the best part of King's Herod Song off all time! On the roof of the world.
a great rendition of the Herod's Song... I'm amazed how they make it turn into different music genres... I Love It!
his behaviour reminds me of Julian King from "The Madagascar" :p
golkiper1989 kinda Robin Williams inspired, too
Such a great Herod, very different from all the others I've seen and a wonderful voice! :)
Wow! Thanks for uploading this. Herod's song is my fav number from JCS.
I have been watching videos all morning of jcs because my theater is putting it on and I came across this and loved it so much I died so thank you for making me laugh so hard!
This is freaking brilliant.
Absolutely fantastic.
this herod is absoloutley awesome! he's almost as good as the staging we've got for our version of this song nxt year!!
Embellishing the character with that campy Pinoy flare. Filipinos will understand Lol
wow, i think I'm in love with this version :D
Fantastic!!!
OMFG I LOVED this, best one ive seen yet!
Dude, you so owned! This Herod is the most amazing thing I've seen in awhile! XD
Wow! Best performance of this song I've seen!
love this song, great guy singing it as well well done
I´d love to see that scene as well. THis production is great!
Il migliore Erode di tutti!!
There wasn't alot of interaction between Herod and Christ but it was still incredebly original and entertaining.
Pehton Quirante is incredible
Luv this guy's style!
When I costumed a 1984 high school production of Superstar - we dressed Herod as Boy George! Brought down the house every night!
best version of this song i've seen!
the best version i have ever seen ;)
This is awesome.
awesome! excellent! perfect!
Wow this is wonderful!!
10 out of 10 this is

I know very well this musical, and this is the best version of Herod's song that I had seen!!!!the protagonist is very very good!!!!!
he is great!!!! awesome!!!
I've never taken it as an insult. Besides, to paraphrase John Waters, it's nice that there is a role that is guaranteed to the fat girl or the drag queen.

he is really good.
Wonderful interpretation indeed! ilarious but this guy can really sing. Great!
This guy is the best Herod ever! A good singer and funny!
pehton quirante is the singer's name, he is from the philippines, but this production is at the summer musical festivals in amstetten (austria)
Congratulations pehton!!!!! galing!

i think i'm in love with him.
This is so fantastic! So funny!!
get out of my chair! hahaha
this actor took the funny side of herod and took it as a licence to kill :)
he is overdramatic but it only adds to the song and makes it his own, two tumbs up!
He Is So The Best Herod!
Brings Alot Of Humor To The Character, More Than The Past Actors Who've Played Him!
I like this!
OMG he is amazing
He was great.
Oh my god!!! The very best of all the Herodes performances! Just incredible!!! I would love to find out the singers name! I´m thrilled!!!
herod is so cute :D
After 45 years of doing this stuff, Alice is going to do it the way Alice wants to...
Cool, it's like an exotic Rocky Horror Picture Show version.
Are you sure that;s not Chris Tucker from The Fifth Element?
G R E E N
Haha. Fred Johanson, who was Pilate in the version you're referring to, was in Les Miserables as well.... but I think they were in different productions.
Own it all incredeble
amazing!!!!! repeatrepeatrepeat!

Haha! Amazing performance!
I agree with elsinora, if some of these parts were played by women, this movie would most probably be much, much, much better!
Rik Mayall. He did a good version. Jerome Pradon did a good Judas. He was also in Les Miz
