You are one of my absolutely one of my all time favorite channels. Thank you so much for making videos - I know its time consuming etc but I really appreciate your channel. Thank you!!!
The ducks are asking for a larger swimming pool. They said it’s a self-esteem thing, that builds community when they can all go to the pool together. 🏊♀️🦆🏊🏻♂️ 😎
You voiced my thoughts about putting the No-breed-Does with the wethers: the play and activity will be good for them! Running and jumping around with those boys will help develop muscles and growth! The wethers are also super friendly, so the does would remain tame and calm. Good use for that large pen.
Funny when you said and here comes Elsa. All the other goats ran off when she came up. Love watching your channel. All your animals are so well taken care of and loved. Such a happy family thanks for sharing
The bucks are fighting and starting to act ruttish already! Won't be long till October! That goat milk looks so good!!! Yay for the taters!!! Derek --- those beds look gorgeous!!! My 94 year old mom JUST suggested we use part of our unused garden for lettuce and radishes. The beds look so tidy. I'm jealous!! The kids might get a kick out of Glass Corn next year...it's pretty and super decorative for Thanksgiving. How soon until breeding those Kunekunes? Derek, when you let us know how you overcome the duck stink....I'm interested!
Absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED the opening of the video! Would love to see more videos start that way! The music was great! The little bits showing off all the animals was perfect!
Maybe the little ones can share a pen with retired grandma. Also, this is why dehorning can be a good idea. Imagine how much more damage the two does could have done to each other if they both had horns.
Love those mornings! Great video. I love goats crunching noises. Oh my goodness the way you picked up the wether by his back legs, i cracked up, that was funny.
After all that has been going on out there...I ordered Delaware Broilers..They are a Dual purpose Bird so your not stressed about having to process in 7 weeks...From what I read these use to be what was in the Grocery Stores? They lay Brown eggs and I ordered from 2 different hatcheries so not crossbred(not sure it matters\_(",)_/) when I continue to hatch out chicks...from what I read were used before Cornish Cross- 12 weeks to process /280 eggs a year...All we can do is Try❤
Derek I believe the speckled Sussex is the chicken you are wanting dual purpose breed, calm, broody, good size to eat and good egg layer - Bri from the Art and Bri channel just had some arrive on there channel today after she did her homework and spoke to Murray McMurray Hatchery for their advice as well - she got a batch of roosters to harvest in 12 weeks and some hens and will keep one rooster to breed replacements
Hi I’m a goat lover I don’t know about chickens but Justin Rhodes grows them all the time. I’m sure he’s the one to ask. Love your channel and I can’t wait for breeding season all over again. Bye for now
I CANNOT WAIT TO GET MY COFFEE CUP FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!! I love your channel a lot. It's really motivating to see how well your family works together as a team. I can't wait for breeding season and to see all new baby goats! They're all so beautiful! Thank you for having such amazing content!
You need to get a couple Game fowl. They are the best moms to what ever egg you put under them. They are very broody too and will set at least 2 times per year. Plus most game fowl breeders have too many hens
The opening vlog watching all the animals in the morning in the quiet was awesome and so peaceful. Your goats and all your animals are so well taken care of you can tell how much they are loved❤️ Do you leave them out all day to graze? Love you guys hope you have a wonderful week❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for such great informative videos. I love how all your family is involved in your farm. I have learned so much about goat births, & goat care from watching your videos. You can only learn so much from reading the goat books.
Red Sussex chickens! Eat and breeding. Broody hen on any eggs. Like raised boxes in the shade. We used pallet wood and screened in the front, top and sides, and split up the cage into four sections for laying and hinges in back boards to get eggs. We then built a ramp up to one of the sides where we cut the screen. Hung that piece of the screen over the hole with zip ties to swing it down at night. This was in the high dessert too. Nice update on everything Blue Cactus! Love the music. Blessings
general rule of thumb is to keep 1 drake per three hens. I got lucky with mine and have 4 each; so 4 breeding pairs, and when I incubated 16 eggs I had 14 hatch out. I credited the number of drakes I have with the high fertility rate in the eggs. Just my thoughts on how many ducks you have. My ducks also out-lay my chickens. In this heat I'm only getting 2 chicken eggs a day. I get 4 duck eggs every day, though.
Wow...Everest is getting huge! I love the silly boys and how they grunt at each other. Lucky is a special boy =) Lots of Lodi screen time for the fan club too! Lol! So, totally off topic, but were y'all there when the Phoenix Lights went over? I've been curious about that...

Look at Dorking Chickens. They lay more eggs in the winter then other hens and are 3rd best in broodiness. For whatever reason, the hens will become broody after laying approx 35-50 eggs. Also, good foragers and are a healthy meat chicken. Males 9lbs, Females 7lbs. They are classified as an ancient breed.
