I have severe food allergies and am now on keto, so Moderno is probably my best bet. I also like that I won't have to guess at what I can and can't have for the 'free at sea' specialty meal 1/1/1/1 thing. Thanks for the informative video.
@@ByteSizeCruises I'm in a Studio cabin, so I only get to choose 1 specialty restaurant. The cruise is very port heavy, so if I want to pay extra for a meal, I'll eat at the ports.
Thanks for this! I just booked a last minute transatlantic for this April, very helpful. 😊 O'Sheehans carrot cake rocked my world on the NCL Gem on my first cruise in December last. I loved Cagney's, Le Bistro and the Brazilian meat place on my transatlantic last December (first cruise ever, solo, transatlantic) on the NCL GEM loved it, loved it. So, I'm looking forward to the larger opportunities. I really loved the size of the GEM though. 😊 - random went late, solo, port day, in jeans and a nice top. Was fine. PS- the duck was lovely 😊❤😊
When it comes to American Diner (which I haven't tried yet, but we're boarding the Escape on March 4), would you agree with those who say "you can get the same food at O'Sheehans or the Cafe, so why pay for it?" Your video is the first one I've seen that actually praised it. What's the value worth paying for in your minds?
Le Bistro absolutely great! Was not impressed with Cagneys. Had all the ingredients to be a great meal but my petit filet was actually tough. Never have I ever. I also noticed on the menu the steak grade was ‘excellent’ or something that is not a USDA beef grade.
Was on the Escape last week. We were in the Haven, but had our grown kids with us who were not. We had two dinners in the Haven , but ate at 5 specialty dining options. I agree with you guys for the most part, but we think La Cucina should be a little higher, and our experience at Le Bistro was less than stellar. The Le Bistro on the Jewel class ships was much better, in our opinion. Cagney's is always good, but they have cut back on portion sizes, especially on the side dishes. The salad bar in Moderno was, and is, amazing. The Haven restaurant is in a league of it"s own. Enjoyed the video.
Hi! I will be cruising on the Escape this year, so your video is of interest. However, I have an issue I hope you can address. It seems Meg does a lot of talking looking towards you, and/or with a softer voice. It would be greatly appreciated if the mic could be either lowered, and/or placed a bit closer to her. Seems its only the "important to me" things she is saying that I don't get to hear from her. Otherwise, when she is facing the mic, and for that matter both of you, love this video/topic! Thanks!
I never understood why someone would "pay" at American Diner, when you can pretty much get the same kind of food for free at the Bar Restaurant (forgot the name).
O'Sheehan's is the bar you are referring to. Paying for food at what is now the American Diner made sense when it was Margaritaville, as at that time it was about the experience as well. But now it's pointless. And from what I understand, sits empty most of the time.
Thanks for this. We just booked our first NCL cruise and it’s a Mediterranean cruise on the Escape next September. Looking forward to it.
That is awesome. We are going back on in a few weeks so we will update it all for you

Moderno and cagneys will both be great for you!!

You are going to love it. Let me know how it goes?

Agreed totally. It’s good if you have the dining package and it’s free but there is no need to pay for it

That is def weird

Great feedback and thx very much.
QUESTION: How do you get an outside table vs. an inside table?
If you were to dine alone, would it be better to go for a lunch at these places?
You can just ask when you make a reservation or when you show up. I dine alone all the time and do dinner. As long as you are comfortable with it.
What was the seafood dish with cream sauce?
I believe it was scallops app

Thx. Yes indeed. We will try and get that fixed

Pretty much agreed. We have the dining package so we just take advantage of all the options
