      The more you beat on them, the better they run...and so simple to work on.

      This specific bike may be the best one ever made. For it to run and rides as it does after the years of neglect is astounding.

    I owned a 1984 GPz550
    / AKA zx550A1. It had same frame-mounted half-fairing as your 1100. My 550 was the LAST year they ever made GPz550. The next year, they came out with GPz600 Ninja (with the 16" front wheel).

      This bike had small wheels in it when I got it and it looked weird.

    Finding the original owner's manual like that is such a great thing! A great project, thanks for sharing.

      I was so happy when I found it. Owners manual and tool kits are the best. This bike has both!!! Thanks for watching!

    Very nice to add a bike to the stable at a great price.

      Trying to take it one system at a time. Next step brakes, while I continue the search for correct forks and rear swing arm.

      @Motorcycle Rewind does the gearbox shift thro the gears, there must have been a huge problem for the bike to have been abandoned.

    It’s amazing that thing doesn’t smoke! And how much better is it starting to look with a little cleaning? Top work Eric 🙂

    Looking good. Can't wait to see you ride that thing. Just needs a chain now, right? Can you shim that throttle housing so it fits on the bars? I'd use some cloth electrical tape around the handlebars, then tighten the housing down on it. Easier than swapping out the handlebars.

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  Рік тому

      I want to ride it also. Next step is sorting out the brakes. The STOP is way more important than the GO! The front one drags a bit so pushing it around is a workout!
      Needs front sprocket(it's MIA) and a chain, which is in the parts bin that came with it.
      The handlebars are tapered, that's why they won't tighten up. Good thing is there is a brand set in the parts bin.

      This one is not for sale. I just picked up a 1984 GPZ1100 that will be for sale when I finish it. That video just went up a few days ago
